Just because most people have collectively chosen to ignore the inherent dangers of microwave radiation doesn't make those dangers go away.
Deepening the ability to not think about disturbing trends and to accept irrational behavior is largely the point of fuzzing people's minds with electronic goo. It works and it's real and everybody, particularly in this forum, ought to know better by now, and yet. ..
The funny thing about direct changes made to the brain are that they are very hard to notice exactly because the organ you use to notice things is that which is being affected. --Gary Busey, who suffered minor brain damage as a result of a motorcycle crash, (without a helmet), explained that he didn't grasp how hurt he was until he realized that he couldn't figure out whether to put his shoes or socks on first, and simply couldn't cognize his way out of the puzzle. Up until then, he just thought he had regular wounds. The world, besides the physical pain, seemed normal.
The effects of EM radiation within the spectrum and power levels used by Cell and wireless technology has been demonstrated to impede brain function, to make subjects more docile and confused.
But the spread of this technology is rampant. --The region I live in has cut a deal with the Telcos to install a lot of Cell towers. The tactics used to lock this deal were corrupt; the representative from the Telco was the daughter of a sitting house member, copies of a significant petition were intercepted and prevented from entering the debate on less than legal grounds, and in general, the politicians were arrogant gits with Cell phones. I was there in local parliament to see it all go down.
Very simply, with the amount of crap Bush and the Military Industrial Complex is pulling today, it is important that the population be as stupid and placid as possible. How much television do you watch per day? Have you gotten your mercury-containing flu shot yet?
I do notice, however, that the reality of this world is slowly beginning to sink in. The deflating economy, the stupidity of the war, (which some of us knew in advance was going to be another Vietnam), the accelerating melt-down of the bio-sphere, the increasing fascism in the U.S. . . It's all growing more obvious, more impossible to ignore. People are far more often growing thoughtful rather than laughing tin-foil hat jokes.
the wiki and brit openings for orthodox are identical and perfectly correct and concise.
Identical? No they really aren't:
Wiki: "The word orthodoxy, from the Greek ortho ('right', 'correct') and dox ('thought', 'teaching'), is typically used to refer to the correct observance of religion, as determined by some overseeing body."
Brit: "(from Greek orthodoxos, "of the right opinion"), true doctrine and its adherents as opposed to heterodox or heretical doctrines and their adherents."
To boil down the two sentences to their essence, Wiki tells us that Orthodoxy, "is typically used to refer to the correct observance of religion," and then qualifies even that statement by saying, "as determined by some overseeing body."
Brit, however, says simply that Orthodox means, "true doctrine". There is no further qualification, only that those opposed to this, so-called, 'truth,' are heretics.
Wiki implies through their definition that something Orthodox is 'True' only in the opinion of "some overseeing body". Brit's definition does not allow that there are any alternative perspectives, only 'Truth', and that Orthodox is It. If you can't see the difference in these two approaches, it may be because you are deliberately not wanting to see. Only fools and frightened people do this, exactly because they can't deal with the idea of unaccounted for realities out there in the big bad world. And just in case you don't understand what that means, I will tell you. ..
It means you are very likely a coward who would rather close off possibilities and pretend that some things are simply not there rather than seek to live and interact in the real world and thereby learn how to deal with those things which some people are scared of. The key word here is, "Coward".
As far as privacy, honestly, I don't get what the big deal is. Actually now that I think about it, I don't get what the big deal about any of the privacy is really. I understand search/seizure and such fun things, but I don't really understand supermarket check out privacy? Don't use the card. Don't use a credit card. Don't go to the store.

Once we have been put in boxes, how do they know we will stay there? What if we wake up one day and decide that we don't like our boxes? This is a fearful thought, which makes the controllers want to apply even more control. The target and memories of what was once normal are always in motion.
The more a person uses a certain set of thoughts and behavior templates, the more 'burned in' the synaptic pathways become. This is how the brain works, and this is how habits are formed. Fear is habitual, and thus cannot ever be satisfied; when one is pre-disposed to fearing being on the 'wrong' side of the line, then it does not matter how far the line is moved, the line itself remains and there is always a 'wrong' side. This drives the desire for ever increasing amounts of control.

For control measures and artificial stimuli to be administered, the system also requires numerous methods of monitoring and gathering information during and after the fact. Information cards which people willingly carry around are just one small, small facet of the whole system. --And I suspect that on the most important levels, these particular facets are more about molding perceptions and training certain thought patterns than they are about actually watching people. About making people think, "What's the big deal about privacy anyway?"
Write something beneficial to humanity, make it available at a reasonable price, (or for free), and the Universe will help you out. You don't need to worry so much about IP laws and copyright. Just get the job done, and if somebody else uses your idea, or if you use somebody else's, then that's fine; it means a beneficial system is propagating. If you don't get in the way of energy propagation, if you are both selfless and savvy, you'll be amply rewarded in unexpected ways. There are always enough customers for a good idea.
The more you give, the larger a conduit you become, and the more you are able to transit through yourself in the future. It really works and it's not magic.
Example. ..
Two creators are sitting on great ideas. Creator A doesn't want to start development until a third party offers pre-payment and guarantees of recognition and general safety. Creator B understands that giving is power and so jumps right in, develops and distributes the idea, making sure in advance only that the system being created is logical and viable enough to pay for itself. The end result, you've all seen. Creator A goes nowhere and does nothing, while Creator B, if the idea is of true benefit and interest to humanity and the execution was not driven by wishful thinking and the wasteful expenditure of energy through poor planning, will be seen and respected and the money will start to flow. --The more integrity, work and faith Creator B puts into the system, the wider the conduit grows.
The "Homestar Runner" guys are worthy examples. --They put up their work with no promises offered to them, and these days they make a living selling thousands of T-Shirts, coffee mugs, CD and DVD collections. They turned down a TV development offer, which could have vaulted them into an even higher power bracket, but they were comfortable and best suited for their conduit width as it stood. But if they continue to give in earnest and if their work continues to be valued, they will have more offers in the future when perhaps they are feeling ready to grow.
I've met a bunch of guys who have perfectly viable ideas, but who won't start development because nobody is offering to pay them for their time and effort up front. They will not go anywhere.
Finally. . , very few people need to get rich. Being super-wealthy naturally attracts IP lawsuits, etc., and that's where the problems start. Being wealthy is a huge responsibility, because it means maintaining and working with a very wide energy conduit which, while it can do a great deal of good, can also be very demanding. Evil empires are easy to spot, because they are naturally attracted to needless collections of enormous and unwisely used power. It's entirely possible to be quick-moving and healthy on a lower level and not have to worry too much about the behemoth control freaks. --And when people do have to worry, (there is the eternal war on between Good and Evil, after all), then the support network is a powerful device which can protect the really pure gems of its own system. The SCO affair is an example of how evil can be very effectively shut down with minimal effort. Like swatting a bug. Without the current network of giving individuals is in place, SCO could actually have become a real problem. As it was they were swatted down like a bug. Evil is inefficient and stupid because they employ wishful thinking; they don't plan realistically. If they did, they would see that selfishness is ultimately self-defeating and they would choose not to be evil.
So long as you remain part of the 'energy' distribution network and stay on the Light Side, you'll be well taken care of. I stopped worrying about these things a long time ago, and just focus on feeding my community as best I am able, while cutting off those who do not give anything in return to the network. When everybody gives, the system grows and those who are part of it are laughing.
It's a sifting of global consciousness on a certain level.
What does the average computer user think about, 'X'? You can get a pretty good idea with Wikkipedia. Then, because it's the internet and EVERYBODY should by now recognize that when doing research on the web, one needs to read a bunch of different websites on the same data they're exploring, research the owners of the website to see what their inborn bias is and what other things they have done, and then do a bunch of creative cross-referencing work. For some subjects, it provides and excellent starting point, but in the end, further research should always include more and wider explorations. The same must be said of any body of reference material, including Britannica.
And, of course, if you need the orthodox viewpoint written from Official Culture, spun to the tune of "Nothing to see here, citizen", then by all means, look up Britannica. (I particularly liked the difference between the two definitions for the word "Orthodox"; Note particularly, the first sentence on each; Wikki gives us an actual definition, whereas Britannica starts out by immediately telling us that Orthodox means, "True". The irony is downright chewable.)
so that I'm really awesome. Only thing is, I don't have the passion or patience to spend the minimum ten-to-fifteen years necessary to become recognizably good. And I certainly don't want to spend the life-time needed to become really, really good.
Any tips? --I already have my own nun-chucks and expensive cross trainers.
Sure, some people have a natural talent, and others don't (like me).
Interestingly, naturally talented prodigies are not all that uncommon.
But most of these naturally talented types I've met go absolutely nowhere unless they are also passionately driven, --and most of them are not. I think it might be because they have no wall to push against when they are young; they come out of the womb with great skill, and so there is no pain associated with not being able to create beauty (or whatever) where they think it ought to be.
With no drive, they miss out on developing all the unexpected incidental little skill caches which are not directly linked to raw talent but which are quite necessary anyway; things like printing and production technology, visual problem solving and certain types of discipline required to finish a project. The marketplace for graphic artists requires one to spend a lot of effort if one wants to succeed there, and so you really have to want to be there in order to make a go of it. Natural ability by itself is worth far less than somebody who is willing to put in the time and who genuinely wants to make a difference. --Of course, if you have the whole package including natural talent, then you can sky-rocket to the top of the field, (Superman painter, Alex Ross and Lucasfilm's current lead Star Wars visual designer, Doug Chiang come to mind), but passionm, work-ethic and smarts can make anybody a player, and a reasonably well-compensated one at that.
It sounds to me like you have far more of what it takes than most of the talented guys I've met. That's something to be proud of.
Merely pointing out that they had to search far and wide. Not even taking population density into account, there are probably more idiots in the US per capita than Down Under.
But then, you know. . , more than half of the Aussies I've met were physically fearless to the point of lunacy. There's just not that many good reasons to jump off rooftops, but the Aussies I've know would argue otherwise via demonstration.
I keep hearing about things that only IE can do, but aside from logging on to Microsoft's Hotmail, which is the only site I know which won't let me access it without IE, (well, that was a year ago, so maybe it's not still the case), I've never needed to activate IE. I do keep a copy of it around 'just in case', but that case never seems to come up.
Am I just not going to those websites with IE exclusive material? What features are you talking about? Perhaps you could provide some links to sites which will crash my FF browser so I can see what you're describing. ..
Interface. . ? Well maybe 8 out of 10, but that game had my girlfriend tearing up when the final credits rolled.
I wonder if Lucas still has the power to inspire great artists to do their best work?
As for the shudder. ..
How's this for a nightmare scenario? --I heard two rumors. One is that Lucas wants to remake the first three Star Wars films (4,5,6, I guess), because he was never fully happy with them. We've also had it confirmed that there are going to be television productions of Star Wars.
Copenhagen - Some observers from the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), a Europe-wide security and rights forum, were barred from entering some polling stations in the United States on Tuesday, one of them said.
"We were not allowed to enter polling stations," said Soeren Soendergaard, a Danish parliamentary deputy.
"Although we were officially invited to follow the (US presidential) election, the message was not passed on to the polling stations," he told the Danish news agency Ritzau.
He said he had been personally refused admission at three out of four polling stations in Columbus, Ohio.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - An error with an electronic voting system gave President George W. Bush 3,893 extra votes in suburban Columbus, elections officials said.
Franklin County's unofficial results had Bush receiving 4,258 votes to Democrat John Kerry's 260 votes in a precinct in Gahanna. Records show only 638 voters cast ballots in that precinct.
U.S. voters calling in to a toll-free number had reported more than 1,100 separate incidents of problems with electronic voting machines and other voting technologies by late Tuesday during the nationwide election.
[. ..] In a majority of cases where machines allegedly recorded a wrong vote, votes were taken away from Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, or a Democratic candidate in another race, and given to Republican President George Bush or another Republican candidate
Spoilage Rates Are Most Prevalent In Counties With High Concentrations Of Minority Voters. Of the 100 counties with the highest spoilage rates, 67 have black populations above 12%. Of the top 100 counties with the lowest spoilage rates, the reverse is true - only 10 had sizeable black populations, while the population of 70 of the counties was over 75% white. There is also a strong correlation between uncounted ballots and black population; specifically, as the black population in a county increases, the uncounted ballot rate correspondingly increases.
155,000 provisional ballots were cast in Ohio. Probably Democrat, but not quite enough to close the 130,000 vote gap. (Because about half were cast in counties which went Kerry.) But just in case. ..
The ballots aren't counted until after Election Day so officials can confirm the voter's registration and make sure the voter didn't cast a ballot elsewhere. [. ..] Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, the state's chief elections official, told county boards to adhere to a rule that provisional ballots cast by voters in the wrong precincts aren't to be counted - and legions of Republican lawyers were ready to make sure the order was heeded.
Most voters in Ohio thought they were voting for Kerry. CNN's exit poll showed Kerry beating Bush among Ohio women by 53 percent to 47 percent. Kerry also defeated Bush among Ohio's male voters 51 percent to 49 percent. Unless a third gender voted in Ohio, Kerry took the state.
So what's going on here? Answer: the exit polls are accurate. Pollsters ask, "Who did you vote for?" Unfortunately, they don't ask the crucial, question, "Was your vote counted?" The voters don't know.
I think you're reading too much into it, man. I'm all about evil plots, tanks, guns, minions, death, and destruction in video games. I'm quite anti-war in real life...just like most of the hardcore gamers I know. You know who the people are that are all about Bush and American expansionism? The hardcore Christians and right-wing rednecks who probably won't play a video game like either of the ones you mention but are all about keeping the brown and gay people in line.
Video games get that shit OUT of your system. These guys have no outlet, so real people need to suffer.
I cannot totally agree. I know a LOT of guys who, to this day are very pro-Bush, very pro-war and who are video game addicts and whose behavior is clearly influenced by that kind of thinking; it infects their normal day to day dialogue, it affects what they think about, and it affects the decisions they make in life. Numerous of them have also either served or are currently serving in the military. I know quite a spread of people and this is not, I think, a localized phenomenon.
Whether video games came before or after the process of their world view is not the point. That such people are going to exist regardless of media is not the point. --The point is that such media is the lubricant which greases the machine of society, and social movements build a sort of gravity which can pull others along on behavioral trajectories which they would not necessarily have chosen otherwise. As we have seen, and what the recent election demonstrates, if you can get enough people following a certain trajectory, then the whole system will follow suit and become committed.
Sure, there are going to be people like you who are able to keep a firmer grasp on their own psyches. Heck, I played a lot of C&C-type games when I was younger. But, as we have seen, one only needs to lull about half a population into following an emperor in order to retain a lock on power.
I hope everybody gets the point here. (Heck, I hope I'm reading the point correctly!)
Aside from the obvious reference here, I have an additional problem with games like this. ..
To play a game of this nature trains people into the wavelength currently held by the Lord of America. The more you spend time playing a game like this, thinking and organizing data in streams which are directed toward control of others through dark methods, including I notice, torture (!), the more those particular synaptic pathways in your brain burn into wider pathways.
This is not so much behavior modification, as it is belief and emotion modification.
The objective of the psychopathic state is not just to destroy order and health, but to convert others to the ways of psychopathy. To create a state willing to do the work of the evil leaders.
Remember Westwood's "Command & Conquer"? --Five years or so of solid pathway-burning had people riding up front with drool and boners when the first U.S. tanks rolled into Baghdad. I remember many of you posting here like that back then. It wasn't until later that you realized you'd been had. (And some of you still haven't accepted that!)
Behavior modification through the media is quite real. Just because the people performing it don't realize it does not by any means suggest that there is no intelligence at work. --But that's okay; there are other programs running which work to create auto-ridicule reactions in people when such ideas are brought up. If we are lucky, some examples may follow. ..
then the chances are you're seeing a piece of social engineering and not news.
Think about it; the studies into this kind of thing which are serious are probably not going to make it into general water-cooler circulation. Hire a kook, let the media play it out, let the Slashdotters carve him up so that they can sit back reassured once again that the material reality sold to them in high school is sound and safe and without rival when nothing could be further from the truth.
This is done all the time. Auto manufacturers call it, "After Market Advertising", and it's designed to reassure Americans that they made the right choice when they bought their car, and by extension, bought into the lunatic sham of the credit-based manufacturing economy which keeps them enslaved. (How many car owners are locked into stupid jobs they need to drive to in order to keep up debt payments? How many of them could drop everything and decide to explore the unique passions each of us was born to explore? This is a powerful and effective form of social control.)
And for goodness sake. . ! --Teleportation?
Could they be any more camp? I think military science has probably moved beyond Halloween ideas at this point. There are much, much bigger fish to fry.
The oil/coal lobby isn't in the lobby anymore. They're installed in the Oval Office.
Remember, one of the first things Bush did when he got into office four years ago was break the Kyoto agreement and re-open a whole mess of coal-fired power stations.
But you're right. Pebble Bed reactors are one of the most rational implementations of nuclear power I've seen.
I was under the impression that a lot of oil was used in the production of fertilizers across the U.S., and that without millions of barrels use in this manner per annum, the current state of agriculture in the U.S. could not be maintained.
If this is the case, then I imagine this would have some significant bearing on biodiesel solutions. Have you studied this, how big an issue is it, and have you studied alternative methods for re-mineralizing soil?
There is no arguing with history. Why don't you look it up, but go back to the 1800's. Jews decided to move into a very narrow srip of land that was pretty worthless and desolate. Which is why the temple's name is al-Masjid al-Aqsa (the farthest mosque). In a general rundown the Muslim religion hates infedels(sp?) so they have decided to get rid of it:
History has shown itself to be very elusive to know, and so arguing with it is in fact quite difficult. According to you, "Israel is in a fight for its life" based on the protestations of one Martyr who had his own definitions of what was really going on. Was he right? Almost certainly not. --Anybody who picks up a gun in anger has missed the point, is just another pawn in a larger game.
The only way to approximate clear vision is to read many different streams from many different perspectives and start canceling things out. What I have learned is that. ..
A. (While there are lunatic elements within the Zionist contingent who were eager to reclaim the promised land), the Jews were largely conned or violently coerced into emigrating to Israel as part of a larger Zionist vision to put all the eggs in one basket. --Even on the small scale, there persist numerous false attacks by 'anti-semites' which later are found to have been perpetrated by Jews. There is lots and lots of media -often created by Jews- which stir hatered and indignation. It has been done through mass-killings. It has been done through social pressure and behavior modification both within and without Jewish populations, all designed to pressure Jews into tighter levels of control. The herding has been effective and endless. And it is very dangerous. It is much easier to kill off an entire race when they are concentrated on once little strip of land rather than integrated throughout other populations where, if the darker forces would leave well enough alone, they could contribute to and help serve humanity.
B. Propaganda in the West. I went to school with a couple of fundamentalist Jews who, steeped in the messages presented by the media and school systems here, were quite bloodthirsty; eager to emigrate and take up arms and kill Palestinians. These were kids who had grown up in comfort, who had never been wronged by anybody. One of these guys even wrote a book filled with war-atrocity stories, pregnant Jewish mothers having their stomachs torn open by Palestinian lunatics. --He'd never seen such things. He was simply writing out of thoughtless hate, spreading hate. Not so amazingly, his book ended up on the New York Times best seller list. A seething asshole, -I shared class rooms and friends with this guy-, and his words were encouraged on the world stage and helped to influence the population towards further insanity. He was by no means unique.
C. The Israeli government and certain groups of settlers are at odds with one another. One of the problems in the disputed territories is that hate-driven settlers, usually from the West where the propaganda is deepest, will deliberately move into disputed areas that the Israeli government had agreed not to touch. This is a sort of game of chicken; the settlers know that the Israeli military won't turf them out. This makes things complicated, to say the least, for negotiation processes.
D. Religious documents from the major religions are not trustworthy. --Particularly those in the bible. Governing bodies at the time understood the power of propaganda and information manipulation just as they do today. The hate and struggling which is happening today between the various groups is directed by a desire, I believe, to destroy all semites. Jews and Arab.
E. "Judge the tree by the fruit it bears." Israel is the one using billions of dollars in advanced weaponry to further its agenda of genocide. Israel is not fighting for its existence. It will be however. World sympathy is dropping quickly and the non-Jewish semitic races certainly have e

Which is good. We're not here to ignore this.

Identical? No they really aren't:
To boil down the two sentences to their essence, Wiki tells us that Orthodoxy, "is typically used to refer to the correct observance of religion," and then qualifies even that statement by saying, "as determined by some overseeing body."
Brit, however, says simply that Orthodox means, "true doctrine". There is no further qualification, only that those opposed to this, so-called, 'truth,' are heretics.

And just in case you don't understand what that means, I will tell you. .
It means you are very likely a coward who would rather close off possibilities and pretend that some things are simply not there rather than seek to live and interact in the real world and thereby learn how to deal with those things which some people are scared of. The key word here is, "Coward".

The more you give, the larger a conduit you become, and the more you are able to transit through yourself in the future. It really works and it's not magic.
Example. .
Works like a charm.

If any single cause was too successful, spotlights would shine. Cumulative effects are where it's at.

Aside from the obvious reference here, I have an additional problem with games like this. .
If we are lucky, some examples may follow. .

There is no arguing with history. Why don't you look it up, but go back to the 1800's. Jews decided to move into a very narrow srip of land that was pretty worthless and desolate. Which is why the temple's name is al-Masjid al-Aqsa (the farthest mosque). In a general rundown the Muslim religion hates infedels(sp?) so they have decided to get rid of it:
.
What I have learned is that. .
