It's difficult to see, in this day in age, ones who lead by example. This should be considered a rare (yet inspirational) occurrence of true leaders - ones who practice what they preach.
'According to TweakVista, on July 1st, the "Windows Shell Services DLL service took 651ms longer to shut down than usual." That's nice. Other than this stark presentation, there's no digestible information as to why the shell services DLL took over half a second longer to shut down. And there's no hint as to what to do about it.'
Seriously, if you're complaining about 651ms when you're using Vista... You need to get out of the house more.;)
I'm waiting for the RIAA to turn on its own artists and sue them for playing at a party or something where they didn't collect revenue from the attendees who witnessed them playing RIAA copyrighted material.
What is the use of laws if they are to be loopholed and danced around? Laws were made in place to provide a groundwork for a healthy, thriving society. We have widdled these ideals so far down that the very foundation of these laws can be bypassed.
We don't need more laws, we need more JUSTICE. Nothing is going to f***ing happen in this country until people start standing up for their morals as a nation. No laws, MORALS.
This is going to sound -1 Troll to most here, and I don't have much factual evidence behind any of it, but I think that there are many ways to look at time as a whole. In recent years we've all gotten accustomed to the concept of linear time - time that has a definitive beginning and end. It doesn't seem to make much sense beyond a few religious faiths, thus the whole BC/AD deal after "the son of God" was born. That's how much we've thought about it, yep. I've read before (can't site it) that in previous ages, time wasn't thought of as linear but as recycling seasons (Pagan?), such as the "circle of life" and nothing more. It would go in circles (as the year concept), but such emphasis on linear progression wasn't universally accepted until world economics and money came into play, with accruing interest on loans, etc.
I think if we explored other concepts and theories of "time" we would get a much broader perspective on where we might have come from, what happened "before" the big bang, etc...maybe that's what quantum theory is exploring..I have to get more into that to be able to argue any points. What I do know is that when I'm in meditation, there are many so-called "universal truths" that I realize, which cause me to question our current definitive concept of time.
I've been using Sunbird for a while now as my sole calendaring app for my tech. consulting business. It's been great, given a bug here and there (but who doesn't encounter bugs in OL/Exchange?). I've also installed it as a Webdav shared calendar for one of my clients, and they love it too. Never had a problem with it, save the timezone issue a while back (but who didn't have issues with that?)
Now the events in Sunbird 0.5 are shadowed, looks much nicer. Thanks guys!!
Oh, and if anyone wants to make an opensourced Sunbird Palm sync plugin, I'd be willing to pay for the development. That's one of the only things I'm waiting for with Sunbird - other than that, it's done everything I wanted it to.
And I said 'someone should grep the reiser codebase for comments'. And the journalist who wrote this article did, at the end. Kinda creepy, although crafty journalism was shown throughout the article. Very good read, although long, like a real live murder mystery for geeks.
A tiny rock on a hill of snow can become a gigantic snowball when rolled down with momentum. Let's not forget this incident, and fight similar issues throughout the world, knowing that you CAN make a difference.
But are they smart enough to simultaneously talk patent violations and distribute the Linux code to cause the community to feel uneasy? I mean, they ARE one of the richest companies in the world, right? You think they don't have major marketing tactics that involve psychology? Just because you don't think about it every day doesn't mean they don't have processes in place.
Could this possibly be something simply to stir up the community by causing confusion?
That being said, is there anything illegal about MS re-distributing Ubuntu? Did anyone here actually download it? Can we checksum everything to make sure they didn't trojan any packages?
I understand, and thanks for your response.. but the fact alone that this kind of thing needs legal attention is what sucks. For people to actually go as far as to even produce this kind of thing, for profit at that, shows how greedy humans have become. We've got such great technology, but we use it for personal gain and to screw others over.
Seriously, passing a law that requires farmers to re-purchase natural seeds every year??? When did people get so obsessed with money that they stopped caring about the people that they live with on this planet?
This kind of shit is what sends me into a spiral of depression.
It is always nice to see news like this. People generally get too much bad news that causes fear. It's cool to see something that gives hope that we aren't all *$&#holes and we're doing some good things that save lives. =)

Thank you, Canonical, for doing what you do.
Sincerely,
A proud GNU/Linux user.
Another brick in the wall.

Kid: Mortal Kombat, on Sega Genesis, is the best video game ever.
Billy Madison: I disagree, it's a very good game, but i think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.
Kid: Donkey Kong sucks.
Billy Madison: You know something? YOU SUCK!

Just another brick in the RIAA wall.
It seems like they're in self-destruct mode.

Why, because I sound like Kip? ;)
;)
You're being cynical. Listen to the message and not my mannerisms.
Peace out.
What an unexpected win for the people.

WTF, didn't SCO do this too though?

"I don't understand a word you just said."
Seriously - this is like the Linux enthusiasts' 'E', with the latest gossip.
Nobody has cared to look at the Vista Business Install CD.
"If they're not doing anything wrong, they shouldn't have anything to worry about."
Snoop onto them, as they snoop onto us!!

Blah.
That makes me wonder where humans went wrong.

Check out the video on YT. This looks like another one of Microsoft's "embrace and call it your own" deals:

"So what's your wife's name, vagina coastguard?"
Oh shit, that's right!
GAME ON!
Teacher: "...And who can tell me the first person to suggest the idea of reproduction without sex?"
Ferris: "Uhm...Your wife?"
Bueller? Bueller?
