If Metro is going to win MS is going to need an excellent fast html 5 render complete with CSS3 support and ultra fast responsive ajax that can run on the GPU for interactive content in order to provide the performance of natively compiled apps and give a reason for consumers to get a Windows 8 phone or tablet over the competition.Chrome is ahead in that area and IE 10 needs to match webkit of Andriod 5.0 and IOS 5.1 which will be coming out later this summer and early fall.

Business customers can go out of business if they can't work in a day. Razor thin 5% profit margins and uptight customers who need work done YESTERDAY will refuse to do business with them if they fail to meet a deadline. A day or two downtime can cost millions of lost business and productivity to US businesses and JotForm itself.

I do not know what world they are living in but post 2008 since the death of IE 6 the number one infection of the web is not javascript or browser exploits but infected flash, java, and adobe files. They infect all platforms regardless of browser and is a nice run around since browsers generally have huge resources put in security development. I am shocked most geeks still allow flash and java enabled in work computer browsers outside the intranet and allow adobe acrobat to be installed.
At home I use Foxit with javascript disabled by default as my pdf viewer and use lists in IE 9 to block most flash and ads. In Chrome I use adblock.
Also Chrome is that secure because of one glaring feature that is a security risk. Chrome will click for you on every hyperlink and just not render it in front of you in order to *appear* faster when you do click on it. It is called network predictions. So the old tale, do not click on everthing!... does not apply in Chrome and that scares me. I make sure I disable it under advanced options.

I am struggling to get my parents to leave XP. There excuse is its a new computer they bought in Christmas 2007 ( a year after Vista). My father is not a computere genius but he reads the news and knows Vista was a POS and Dell advertised their XP 64 line of XPS for consumers and not just business users.
Most OEMs this time arround will learn the lesson and offer both or have drivers. The driver model is windows 7 64 bit for Windows 8 and many corporations are just trying to leave XP now and will still be this summer when Windows 8 hits the streets. Windows 7 will be the new XP of the 2010s. Like Vista Metro is not mature yet and has some many issues for desktop productivity.Windows 7 will install fine and OEMs this time around will anticipate a demand for Windows 7 after the Vista disaster.

Windows 7 also supports UEFI so you can still run Windows 7 on these locked machines too
I have not met a single person who likes Windows 8. Average Joes look at the screen funny and then ask why is this computer pretending to be a cell phone?
Metro on Windows Phone 7 rocks and has great reviews but I am not blowing dough to leave tweets on tweetorama as the vast majority of users use PCs for work now and let their phones and tablets waste such time.
I think it will bomb. Especially in the corporate environment. Many will be resentful and angry as after staying with IE 6/XP for 12 years the last thing they want is to use a 3 year old OS and standardize on IE 8 and get shit up the creek yet again (this time in only 7 years instead of 12). If they choose Windows 8 the users will FREAK OUT not being able to have 5 windows open at once, no task bar, no search function like their is in Windows 7, and people using tweeteroma instead of office working. The METRO versions of Office are just cheap notepad like functionality. Switch to desktop and you can't stay there. Since search is gone when you hit the Windows key you are back in the annoying Cell phone land UI. The gui is schzo and if Windows 9 gets rid of the desktop all hell will break loose and Macs might not look that bad in the corporate envrionment. /bitch ... just not with multitasking with big monitors. Metro 2.0 needs to address these shortcomings.
I worked freelancing and in a pc shop wipping Windows Vista and 7 with XP. Yes consumers are actually willing to pay money to go back to Xp as late as 2010. Seriously. Ms is right but wrong in so many ways. The gui is the future
It wont be the same and Windows 7 will be there. That was only true for the first 3 months of Vista where OEMS had a rude awakening.
I am struggling to get my parents to leave XP. There excuse is its a new computer they bought in Christmas 2007 ( a year after Vista). My father is not a computere genius but he reads the news and knows Vista was a POS and Dell advertised their XP 64 line of XPS for consumers and not just business users.
Most OEMs this time arround will learn the lesson and offer both or have drivers. The driver model is windows 7 64 bit for Windows 8 and many corporations are just trying to leave XP now and will still be this summer when Windows 8 hits the streets. Windows 7 will be the new XP of the 2010s. Like Vista Metro is not mature yet and has some many issues for desktop productivity.Windows 7 will install fine and OEMs this time around will anticipate a demand for Windows 7 after the Vista disaster.
Who knows MS may work ont he desktop and add the start button back, add overlapping Windows, add a task bar for multiple apps on big screens, and better mouse controls by this fall so who knows. I think GUI designers are so used to whiny users who bitch about change that they assume every complaint is just that rather than realize the lack of input oriented, multitasking friendly, UI, is a serious problem. Not a WA Wa where is my start button, etc.

PS half the people who have to declare bankruptacy due to medical issues have health insurance. These so called death panels do exist in the private sector. You sir will have a rude awakening one of these days and like my example of the person who hated socialism who lost his life savings due to a medical issue that occured after being laid off and he lost his house too. With the bankruptacy he could not even get a car loan without a judge's permission.

Hey, Kaylandad I had a similiar fate with a job loss and divorce last year and left a place I loved to move back in with family. Lost everything and my heart goes out. Good for you for trying to do the right thing and taking personal responsibility. I did the same and in a few years it will show.
Funny your very argument known as JIT inventory is why many companies are moving back to the US.
Where are you going to store all these products. Oh yeah overseas. You have fuel costs and huge latencies. IN the US workers are more productive and you can place them close together close to the customer to cut down on inventory costs and increase shipping times.
Even in China it is a huge country and it is hard to find land not taken by another factor down the street to have the parts ready. In the US there are many vacant factory buildings in places like Detriot.
