Yep FBSD 5.3 according to various sources is not production grade.
There are several bugs with hardware and i/o issues. It works beautifully or very badly unlike 4.x
You may want to read the flame war with some benchmarks stressing the new threading model int he link above?
Not to sound trollish of course but I have been pretty disapointed in the direction of 5.x. NetBSD might be a better option in my opinion for servers.
I wonder how the DragonFLY project is going? I am not a kernel expert or qualified to say wheterh 5.x is inferior or supperior. If I bet my job on it I would be very conservative about upgrading from what I hear from other people. Thats all.
Even though I was young, I knew it made more since to put the main processor in the system.
Donkey Kong 3d and Doom for SNES did this. I remembered the nintendo power article when I was curious as to how they got the game to run several years later.
I remember reading a story at Nintendo power which discusses how the system works.
The CPU and rom are in the game cartrige while i/o, video, and sound are on the main system.
This was over 15 years ago in the mind of a 7th grader so I could be wrong. Also I could have been reading about the Super nintendo that was coming out very soon.
But I believe teh Snes put more cpu power in the main unit compared to its ancestor to drive the cost of cartridges down.
Write a traveling salesmen problem but instead of avoiding the same airport twice the variables would have to be dependant on making sure Santa does not stop at the same house twice.
And compute it to make him as efficient as possible.
Look at Microsoft's intentions and behavior? Look at their past? Why would Microsoft want to give up their monopoly?
Its in their best interest to kill java which Bill Gates himself says it kills the dependance on Windows and scares the daylights out of him. Mono is quite primptive and will always be catching up to.net. MS wants it that way so they can tell java developers taht their product is cross platform but really is not.
DirectX, Windows forms, ole, opengl, and other items are exclusive to windows only. Windows forms is mostly reversed engineered to mono now but it supports my point that MS wants it to always be behind to make the developers only release their products for Windows while thinking its cross platform.
The libraries and some of the api's I am suspicious of.
At least under Perl its all opensource and the api's are most portable because the developers want it to be portable. MS dictates.net which is the standard and not the ansi version. That in itself is proof of a monopoly.
I can not afford photoshop and I would love a free graphics program that is fast, loads up quick like Xnview, has paint and image texturing functions. I could make some quick backgrounds for websites and 3d graphics programs that I am working on.
Photoshop is too fancy and the gimp is too slow and unusable on Windows.
Then why dont we see people dying of cancer and other diseases in tropical or subtropical places vs temperate places?
I live in Florida and lived in Nevada before hand which are very hot during the summer. If what you say is true noticable life expectances would be noticed between the southern and northern states.
I do know that hand held land lines sometime interfere with wifi and they do not need the power to beyond a few hundred feet. A microwave signal is needed to travel over vast distances.
Perhaps someone more enlightened could share to comment. I own a cell and I have a wifi AP just feet away from my bed.
If I recall from college chemistry a few years ago, Microwave radiation was high up on the spectrum scale near Xrays and gamma rays and past UV rays which already can damage DNA.
Microwaves have something like 100,000 times the power of a radio wave and can do alot more damage as a result.
Think of it as a difference between a ripple on a pond vs a tsumia?
Yes long term exposure to power lines do cause cancer. Many states have laws that limit government and homes to certain distances to high powered lines.
I am talking about corporate software which is binary only and the fact that joe six pack does not want to recompile programs or frankly needs too.
Oracle hates Linux besides RedHat Enterprise edition for that reason. They want it like a traditional unix of binary only code on cd-rom.
My guess is redhat may just do this in the future to enable older software to run on Redhat Advanced Server or Enterpisde edition to keep corporate software makers happy.
Amazing how Walmart has enough money to pay $1000 for every US citizen yet finds ways to make their employee's work off the clock, pay no medical benefits, and pay rock bottom for all their associates.
Yes
I got modded too tellign the truth about optimizing software for the Itanium or pointing out any weakness under Linux or Unix.
This is slashdot and my guess is a BSD elitest modded you down since this kind of story would attract them.

That was probably it.
Even though I was young, I knew it made more since to put the main processor in the system.

1300 meters is not that big and they can travel up tp 80kps.
This one is 2.9 miles wide which is over 6k meters.
A 1300 meter meteor could easily create a 20 mile wide creater and could cause disasterous tidal waves and tsumias that extend many miles inland.
The human species would survive but 90% of us live near a body of water.
You change the results by observing presents.

I am sorry.
Poor thing.
Question
Did you outsource your programing department to India?
Seriously mistakes and problems happen but it sounds like a very very poorly made app.
Python is not a platform for webdevelopment with its own server.
.net/asp.
You can write cgi modules with it but its like comparing apples and organges to a full suite like j2ee or
I am refering to teh Opengl api in c#.net.
If you need opengl and your app is written in c# then you are out of luck on Linux.
I like .net but agree with previous poster.
.net. MS wants it that way so they can tell java developers taht their product is cross platform but really is not.

They may be a mono port to Linux.
Windows.forms are proprietary and most have been ported to mono which can now compile some Windows apps.
I admit the gdi+ is proprietary but who knows.
As a Windows user I would love a free program like this and I hate the gimp with a passion. I quiver at the ui and struggle to get anything done.
I have .net installed on my system.
I can not afford photoshop and I would love a free graphics program that is fast, loads up quick like Xnview, has paint and image texturing functions. I could make some quick backgrounds for websites and 3d graphics programs that I am working on.

Unfortunately your sig makes you lose crediblity when you say you dont support religious fundamentalists.

I thought it was a radio spectrum?
I am not an engineer so I dont know.
I do know that hand held land lines sometime interfere with wifi and they do not need the power to beyond a few hundred feet. A microwave signal is needed to travel over vast distances.
Perhaps someone more enlightened could share to comment. I own a cell and I have a wifi AP just feet away from my bed.
Are you sure?
If I recall from college chemistry a few years ago, Microwave radiation was high up on the spectrum scale near Xrays and gamma rays and past UV rays which already can damage DNA.
I think you need to check your facts.
wifi is radio so its harmless.
Cell phones use high powered microwaves.
Microwaves have something like 100,000 times the power of a radio wave and can do alot more damage as a result.

Basically in legal speak it means you do not own the product but rather a right to use it.
After all you didn't buy WindowsXP but only a right. A copy of the actual product was included with the right you bought.
Amazing how Walmart has enough money to pay $1000 for every US citizen yet finds ways to make their employee's work off the clock, pay no medical benefits, and pay rock bottom for all their associates.
I am college educated and and live at home with my parents and am applying at several retailers stocking shelves.
Why?
Because Walmart and most of corporate America has become obessed with outsourcing in order to cut prices.
So it is the problem.
Many computer science students are lucky if they end up working at 7-11 repairing slurpie machines.
So where do you go?
