It's not easy to land on a comet or asteroid. The gravity's quite weak, and not regular either. Especially as you don't know the composition or internal structure.
I was always a big fan of Free Software...not only because of the way it worked but mainly because it is free. One or two years ago a friend of mine came to me and told me of that very cool BeOS and how great it is and why I am still using Linux. I tried to explain but he didn't understand. I asked him what he is going to do with his cool BeOS when someone decides that it isn't woth it and stop developing BeOS. I told him that will never be the case for Free Software. Well I haven't seen him for a while or talked to him, until recently...when he wrote me an email asking some Linux Installation Question. You should consider the story of BeOS when you buy the next commercial Operating System.

I think Linus is wrong, we should have a lot more messages for the individual drivers cause when more is printed on the screen while booting, the text ist scrolling by faster, and the faster the text is scrolling by, the faster linux seems to be. Just show all that windows lusers how fast Linux is with our ultra-fast Linux bootup;)
I think you missed the point. Berlin is not at all about translucent menus. I hope you do not point to the Berlin Developers when you speak about "random idiots". I have been at the Linuxtag in Germany last year, and Stefan Seefeld was speaking about Berlin there. When you ask me,...he is a very clever guy and there are a lot of concepts behind Berlin which are more then impressing! If you speak German and are interested in the presentation, you can have a look at it here: http://www.berlin-consortium.org/docs/lt2000/paper.html
I was wrong in claiming this. I was quoting wrong from the original articel, which says there is a one-in-10000 chance that anyone being hit by a iridium spacecraft. Well, I was happy someone corrected me in the next post. I think there should be a way to correct your own comment once posted.
Btw, I think if there is a 6 year old moderating on slashdot than his/her moderating will by a big chance being better than the moderating of a lot of older people here.
The articel says, in 2005 some 64 million computers will have reached the end of their useful lives.
Uhmm...I give you my adress and you send me a few. How about 1000?:D
I will recycle them completely... I promise
You should tell this to the people who develop web pages. It is their fault if they only program for _one_ "platform" "plugin" "browser" or whatever. There always should be an alternative view. I can see it often for flash pages...where you can choose the "non-flash" version. This should be the case for every non-html content. It is the fault of the developers.
I have got the Atari 2600...
Until today I was not able to play the Indiana Jones Adventure Game to the end...simply because I don't understand it. The snakes always bite me until I am dead.
Well I still can play Donkey Kong...
Just because there are a lot of similar software projects doesn't mean that the oss model does not work.
A lot of these software projects have the same goal...but they do things in a different way.
At the end people look at the finished products and choose the best one for their needs.
So lots of similar software doesn't mean we don't get any quality software, it means we get more choice of quality software.

If you are so worried about the MSFT tax don't buy prebuilt computers, duh.
So you think the Microsoft Tax isn't a problem? Then show me your self built notebook, please.
...RedHat will buy SuSE and switch to the .deb packet format

Linux wasn't designed

Let's hope universe does a "shutdown -k"

now we are in the phase "then they fight you"

They say there is a one-in-10000 chance being hit by a falling iridium spacecraft. Anyone knows how big the chance is to win in lotto?
...whatever ;)
If the BIOS would be Free Software/Open Source...you could fix it yourself and make BSD running.

Now let's see if ftp.freebsd.org gets slashdotted...is bsd as good as everyone says? ;)

DebianHelp is for absolute new users. DebianPlanet is not. That is the difference...well...I think it is the difference.

I don't need no stinking cache...I have a creditcard.
I have found a bug.
What when someone patents that material...
...whua...why do I feel so cold?
Does he own all life on earth?
