If the original question was legit, it may not matter since unless it was grabbed by joy riders the car will probably be sliced and diced and its parts scattered to the 4 winds. The laptop and cellphone will either be tossed or used for next week's headlines. (avoiding key phrases :) I hope :().

Mandrake is a great distribution for Newbies, just ask my teenage daughter who has stopped asking me when I was going to restore the XP partition on the home system. She is amazed at how fast it runs (at least Mozilla). She has even asked me to install Windowmaker on it so she can try some 'goth' theme. Who knew!

Reading the FAQ on TC, I learned about the Palladium project (excuse me if I have been in parallel universe for the last few years, but...). The project was named after Palladium the god that protected the city of Troy. But if I recall my mythology, Palladium proved to be asleep at the wheel in not protecting the Trojans against the Trojan Horse attack (hey where I have I heard that phrase before ?!). The bottom line is that like DIVX, software protection, and anything else that can be thought up it will not prove to be unbreakable. I guess MS never heard about Godel's Completeness Theorem, maybe he should read the great book: Godel, Escher and Bach for a better understanding of this universe (now that I am back in :)

    2) 32-bit microprocessor, not Intel but Motorola

    3) Most of NT, not by MS but teams from Dec -> Compaq -> HP -> (?)

    4) Multiple instruction processing and pipelining: not Intel (actually stolen from) DEC, they even had to "pay" restitution

    5) Web browser: the death of Netscape, what more needs to be said.

    6) Current battle lines:

OS: Linux vs MS Windows: MS "lost" this battle, (bad, bad Monopoly), and was ordered by the courts to give away software to our youth in schools to "prevent" this from happening again. If the judge had any brains he would have ordered to pay for installation of Linux and MacOS products.

Media Player: Real, Musicmatch, Apple, etc vs. MS Media Player: MS is "losing" this battle in Europe, but see the outcome for OS see if it really matters.

Ok let me stop writing, I am getting (more) depressed.
