Not me! I definitely want hackers to be able to shoot water and ice out of my refrigerator, and for it to upload "anonymized" data about all my activities and preferences for marketing purposes.
This is a very Slashdotty article, denigrating a product that - like it or not, really was transformative - because it came from Apple.
The iPhone changed cellphones forever, it eliminated the PDA, it ushered in the era of smartphones for the masses who didn't have a business need for one and would have never bought themselves a Blackberry.
The Model T barely had "anything associated with a car" today other than four wheels and a seat, but what we are seeing here is an argument that the Model T wasn't a big deal at all, and really was a crappy product, and not of any historical importance.
There's a major battle being waged over direct-to-consumer healthcare (particularly medical genomics). Medical doctors don't want to be replaced by automation.
There's way, way too much fake merchandise on Amazon. I'm at the point where I won't buy anything unless it says it's sold by Amazon.
At least if it's fulfilled by Amazon you know you should get a hassle free return, but most of that Chinese fake garbage you're going to have to pay to return yourself and it's going to be a hassle. Not worth it.
At least they are giving people what they actually want, which is function.
Personally I think that these manufacturers like the make things thinner and lighter and to put rounded edges and smooth surfaces all over them because it creates more devices that need replacement because they are frail and squirt out of your hand like a wet bar of soap.
Exactly what does Snowden have to do with Wikileaks, which released the emails leaked to them by the DNC insider and those phished from Podesta's gmail account?
...The fact that they had to dig up something this old to push tells you they've got nothing.
It tells you the media is still going through the grief/straw grasping stages
This is another issue being reported, that aside from not being able to play without an internet connection, the game can use 50MB of data or more for mobile users. (supposedly)
All of this fails to account for the fact that it's a very, VERY simple game and most people don't see getting $10 worth of fun out of it.
Combine that with the fact that you get to play for (i think) two levels before having to pay... two levels you can pass in about 2 minutes... people are put off by the free portion of the game being almost nonexistent.
I think their attitude seems to be that a "pro" would be using a desktop. And if you need to use it in more than one place, buy more than one. (cha-ching!)
Apple seems to think that all you need are ever more miniature mobile devices strapped all over your body and connected wirelessly to each other, requiring proprietary adapters to charge and having batteries you can't replace.
I'm sure those microphones and cameras that all my appliances will be bristling with will NEVER be abused by anyone

Only on /.
He's using a Theranos calculator that's still in beta

"Medical doctors" perform lab tests?
The final step will be patent trolling.

You guys seriously don't want stories and titles to be retconned? Come on, we've got biases to advance here!
At last, Apple has found a way to make you put adapters at both ends of headphones!
Slashdot's Seattle bureau would respond to these baseless and cowardly accusations, but they've been stuck in traffic for the past 67 hours.
Slashdot's editorial board is more biased in the Apple vs Android rivalry than the New York Times is during an election year
Said both people who own Apple Watches and still play Pokemon Go
Fixied?
But who's gonna fly it, kid? You?

From what I remember, this Johnnycab experiment ends in flames and explosions.
Grief stage 6... patent trolling.

I don't know of any planes with gaps between seats that are large enough to even open a laptop anymore!
No ports at all! Soon we will force you to charge on a pad and only be able to connect things via bluetooth!

Of course. Making things thin and brittle with rounded edges bolsters repair and replacement sales.

And finally the social "safety net" becomes a hammock
