This. I don't work for the government but I know plenty of people who do. The vast majority are highly educated (Yale, Stanford, MIT grads) and hard working (10+ hour days not lazy at all). There are problems with our government I'll give you that but people lash out so thoughtlessly and without any real understanding of how it works. The government isn't burning money it's spending it mostly back into the private business world. Slash the government down to nothing and we'll have 30% unemployment in a week...month at the most. Maybe that is fine with you but don't pretend it's going to fix anything that you're complaining about.
Roads. What is every business around the country just going to get together and pay for our roads? Best case scenario is we have toll roads everywhere...worse case we have no roads.
I could name more but you only asked for one.
Excellent point, without a better metric including installed base, number of calls and then break down of call types then the numbers are ultimately meaningless.
You would think that Steve Jobs is the second coming from the way they fawn over anything that comes out of Apple right now. The iPad is a neat device but in the eyes of the people making reports about it, it has already replaced all computers in every household. It seems like there isn't a day that goes by that some new Apple story goes up on CNN.com even if the new story is just a rehash of an old story. It's all about proportion even when netbooks were at their biggest it was something just barely talked about and many people would have no idea what you were talking about if you said the word "netbook" while there's hardly a english speaking US citizen who doesn't know what an iPad is.
It's one thing to have a standard it's another thing to have companies actually use the standard! Look at USB power for phones, pretty much all modern phones can connect to a USB port and get power there and many even have USB plugs now but many (looking at you Apple) however still choose to force people to use their of proprietary connector. It's in many companies interest because they think they can make a buck from it.
Yeah I have almost no interest in this tech at all. We have workers spread around different offices/locations and my manager is always suggesting we setup our video conferencing equipment, but I have no idea why. I'm not communicating anything useful with my face while we're chatting on the phone about tech topics. It's utterly useless, maybe for some couple who are living separately for some work or something I could see it being better than sexting but otherwise why the hell would I want to see someone while I'm trying to talk to them?
I think the issue will be more that this news will be conveyed by the media as another point for countries with nuclear power to cease their use. If this gets on the mainline news at all it will be "ANOTHER country is voting to get rid of nuclear power, maybe we should be thinking about this as well?"
My sony account only held the minimal information and some of that not correct. The PW I used was my public throw away password that I only use on sites that require me to register when I just need it to use a basic service and not enter anything not already public knowledge. So I'm not going to burn a good PW or spend my time trying to memorize a new one to use for something I really wouldn't care if they cracked and couldn't use the same PW on a site for which I care about it being cracked.
Yeah I could throw away my stove and cut off the evil regulated gas company gas and just use my sink! One knob for water and one for fire.....they're really just the same except the one for fire starts a sparker when you turn it.
Yup had one of those recently, but for me it only took until I was walking in the parking lot to my car to have the duh moment. Either way I was glad I didn't have to work there though.
Is that discomfort at least partially due to the culture of sex being bad?
Then you pop your fuse and lose your UAV?

Here I thought windows that "block sunlight" were called walls.
Oh yeah well my wife's iPhone bricked itself for no apparent reason so now we are statistically even again.

Android is used on the cheapest smart phones so they use the cheapest parts....to you know...make them cheap.

I had heard this but wasn't sure if/when it was really happening. Go EU!

This is America and our streets are paved in silver, gold, platinum and some highly carcinogenic chemicals......
Wow that is eerie...I had to look at the date like five times.

Well that depends....am I living on a planet bathed in x-rays coming from a quasar?

Hey maybe I'm being ridiculous hating on Apple. This comes out and suddenly I'm back in 1984!
All buyers placed on theorist watch list.
Most decent software updates itself now...though I suppose the idea of the app store is that we get crammed with tons and tons of cheap shovelware.
....without a ramp. (HPV = human powered vehicle).

Who thought "Geocities? Geocities still exists? Wait what is Geocities doing hacking Sony?"
Oh crap "I agree"
