This is a student LOAN not a student free money that you never have to pay back or otherwise think about again. In fact it's more sticky than a private loan because you can't bankruptcy your way out of it. This isn't the same argument as say farm subsidies.
My assumption is that Translate is used by other Apps to do voice recognition. I have Vlingo on my Android phone which is very Siri like (it does dictation, search and other such things, I had a phone off with my IPhone 4S using friend on Friday and other than being a bit faster they seemed pretty similar).
Are we sure they are even using windows? I mean in all likelihood they are but I couldn't find anything in the article (including the picture) to confirm.
So basically old games have copy protection and you won't buy them and then new games have copy protection and you won't buy them?
I like my old games but generally they are best kept in memory, then tend to not be anywhere as good as I remember when I get the working again. Personally I love Steam for not making me dig disks back out if I want to play a couple year old game again.
Wow that sounds like the worst idea I have ever heard on the subject. Why not just assign me a nanny? Work should be about results, you do what you are supposed to do and do it well then you're doing it right.
Exactly right. I had a telecommuting job for about 5 years. There times when I was extremely busy and found myself working almost all day (after hours were often just spent with the laptop moved to being in front of the TV but work continued) and there were times when I just spent the day occasionally checking email while folding laundry and such. Even now that I have an office job it's pretty much the same just less flexible.
This is the one thing I can agree with about Steve. He actually did try to make good (in his mind) products and largely succeeded. I'm on the more hate side than love but he did do a good job of breaking the mold from the utter failure that is the standard for CEOs in the world today.
I have a Linux laptop that I keep around (running Ubuntu 10.something) and I have not been convinced to leave Windows. I have had a total of one blue screen in the last 5 years and that was on a Windows machine running in a VM...I think something was unhappy when the host machine went to sleep. Generally I have zero issues with Windows as much as the Slashdot crowd wants to believe otherwise.
I consider myself a geek and would love to find something out there worth leaving windows for but nothing has shown itself to be better in any noticeable way and have mostly involved notable downsides. I've had FAR more problems getting my Ubuntu machine working right though it has been significantly better than my previous experiences with Linux.
PS human children are sometimes born with a different number of chromosomes, generally this leads to birth defects but it's possible such a mutation could lead to something new too. And also not all of these birth defects make a person unable to have children.
Possibly true but what you are advocating is basically just paying the American poor...less. So great we get to keep the jobs here but we make sure that in order to keep them we keep people more poor than they are now. I suppose something is better than nothing but I'm not sure how much better it would be. Hey all those safety standards are costly too lets get of those (works for China: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/aug/22/vinegar-contaminated-antifreeze-china-ramadan, lead paint, etc). Heck worker safety should go too so we can save more costs. Damn worthless unions and their creation of that waste of space middle class. If we could just turn back the clock and get back our upper and lower class system.
This argument works for only certain limited game types. I find all the games you mentioned boring...run around shoot people yay....I like the games with a story to tell and a character to build. And no MMOs don't count in that regard at all. In order for multiplayer to work most games have to dumb down everything and simplify the game to its most basic level so it can be repeated over and over and over again in short order.
I started biking to work most everyday (less than one day per week on average I drive). I also began training for a 184 mile bike ride coming up soon, so I have been biking 50+ miles every weekend. I have barely changed my diet at all and if anything I'd say I eat less now as I've been watching my diet more. The only change has been I drink a sports drink on my long rides and tend to have one a protein bar or shake when I am done. The average American diet has way MORE than enough calories to get you through most of the exercise we were designed to be doing anyway.
The thing is most of the countries that do still have a AAA rating have a higher debt as % of GDP and higher debt per capita than the US does. I think the whole world (except China, and a few others) are in trouble if the US is considered to be in trouble.
The title pretty much screamed "Don't see me I'm shit". I love sci-fi and don't mind the western but how could someone thing this would be good movie? I suppose if explosions and gunfire are all that is needed to make a good film for you then it might work but otherwise it just doesn't make any sense to see this before it's on streaming from netflix.
I think we have to admit that McCain does bare some resemblance to Smeagol.
I think the problem with the Tea Partiers is that they see it as being their way or nothing. I understand their perspective and conviction but I think the issue is that they want to do it ALL at once. No compromise, every vote they make must include everything they think has to be done for the next 20 years of government. I think the problem is if we do it their way the whole economy is going to come crashing down. People complain about government spending but then seem to forget that a large % of the US is employeed (directly or indirectly) by the government. You YANK that out all at once and I think we'll be reminiscing about the good old days of only 10% unemployment.

Where did I miss this happening? Wait can I just hold my phone up to a bee and kill it now? Does this work on other insects? Is there an app for that?
You should look up how money enters the economy. There are some excellent basic run downs on youtube even.

Not really that bad an idea.
I see the opposite here. This makes tax loopholes available to all. So it seems to me that more companies will be able to use them not less.
That also assumes you have 32 hours of work to do! If I did 32 hours of work in one day most days I'd have 0 hours of work to do the rest of the week.

Wish I could vote this up. Great review. As an aside this article also links well to an opinion article up on CNN.com asking if jobs are obsolete.
Why? I have no reason to leave Windows.
You can install the notscripts add-on in chrome and then you can selectively enable JS based on the source.
