    Actually, if I were MS I would charge MORE for the N version. You see, they already have the regular version, and, they have to actually do something for N to be produced. I think it should be within their rights to charge for the "labour" of changing the product.

    it's "the cost of doing business". Japanese construction companies have lived with it for decades - actually, they have to pay the yakuza more than that. They, and MS as well, will just pass the costs down the line. No biggie...

    Omnifi DMS1 Digital Media Streamers can be had for as little as US$50, and come with both a wired and wireless NIC. Hook them up to some reasonably priced powered speakers, and you can have each room "wired" for less then US$ 75.

    It's what I recently did for a friend, and he is VERY happy. So is his wife.

    When I was a geek, I sometimes had to code shit that made me sick. But, the boss said that it must be done the way the cleant wanted it. It's no different, I guess.
    Having said that, a LARGE percentage of lawyers are slimeballs; IMHO, and all that.
    Oh yeah, and if I even need a lawyer, I will be looking for the largest slimeball I can afford.

    I am sure I have seen a few, and I mean FEW, diesel Golfs on th eWest Coast. If push came to shove ... buy a convertible Golf and a nonconvertible diesel one ... "swap" engines. Done.

    You are also NOT looking in the US/Canada. There are almost no such creatures here.
    Another amazing thing, to me anyway, is that diesel is more expensive than gas on the west coast. Yup, I have to pay US$ 3.16/US gallon for diesel in Portland, while everybody gets their gas for 2.50 or less.
    On the other hand, I would not trade my old GD300 for anything new on the roads these days, so I don't really mind.

    Same thing for my step mother. Well, would have been the same except for: 1. she was in so much pain they were giving her morphine every hour, 2. when I got here and saw the situation,I called a Doctor friend, who called a Doctor friend, who ... Even so she spent four days in emergency taking percosets every four hours as well as the morphine. Why? "Waiting for a free bed."

    Err ... have _YOU_ had to get something done? Anywhere in the Lower Mainland? If you had, and didn't have some friend who is an MD, I _ASSURE_ you, you wouldn't be saying that.
    Do people have to wait _all_ the time? Perhaps not. I know from personal experience that it happens MUCH more than many people believe.
    All in all, not a bad system, but FAR from perfect.

    No problem, just use a Linksys with firmware that allows you to chose which antenna does what. Attach external antennas as appropriate ... problem solved. (Unless I am missing some important point.)

    It's a true SAN device, hence block access, which means fast. You can just add more devices as needed. If I remember correctly, you can "team" devices for better performance, or larger virtual drives.
    The only problem so far ... I can't find anyone who has them on stock. :-(
    Also, I am not sure what the access from Linux situation is; I think I saw a mention somewhere that you need a driver ... could well be ISCSI though. Will know for sure as soon as I can get my hands on one.

    Any PSU that I know can be powered up without a MB attached; you just need to short out the right pins on the connector. I guess there could well be some that you can't do that too, but _I_ haven't found any.

    When they stop selling current DVD players without verification, what choice will people have?

    Grey market "Chinese" imports? When was the last time you had a problem playing any DVD in your TV top machine? I hope it was a LOOOONG time ago, as "Best Buy" has been selling for a while US$ 29.90 players that play any DVDs - my cheap ass "Cyberhome" box even does PAL --> NTSC conversion for me.

    Absolutely right about needing a car - I live in Western Canada myself, so ...
    But, do we all need "Tundras" and F250s and BIG ass SUVs? Would we not be MUCH better served by, for example, Smart cars, or any number of small European or Japanese diesels? (I am a hypocrite, I do drive an old GD300; but, I actually 1. don't have the space to keep a second, small, car, and 2. I DO use it a fair bit to drive in the bushes.)
