Most people understand that parts of biological life break-down over time for various reasons, mostly environmental. What have we learned so far about humans, for example, and why cell death occurs?(Setting aside environmental causes like cancer, virii, toxins, etc.) If you had 60 secs to get a college student excited about wanting to study and research life extension, what would you say besides the obvious 'live-forever' meme?
What, because a site's policy states something you think it's ok to not pay any attention to it? To blow-by the sign-up form with false data that just meets the field validation?
Christ indeed. IMO, who cares how people "use" sign-up forms, the provider expects valid information to be entered. What, because there is finally a consequence to providing false information just to sign-up to a site you're getting pissy? Please. Now if they only start to go after all the spammers with yahoo/google/hotmail account we'll have some progress.
Provisioning and employee lifecycle? They're the only major software company in the world with no solution there.
I stopped reading right there.
I've spoken with reps and managers at MS. They purposely don't have products there so 3rd-party vendors can fill the space and grow it.
I never understood why people complain about MS being a monopoly having their hands in everything then turn around an complain by finding vault with their lack of products.

Somewhere deep inside me there is a problem with 12-yr olds playing a game where you blow-up strippers with pipe bombs. Granted it's deep inside......Wait who are you again? Get of my lawn!!!
They actually said what they've been doing in the video: hookers, cocaine and getting level 70 WoW characters. Exactly what I would expect of Duke's R&D staff....
Please re-read my last reply because it appears as though you are misreading it.
So, basically you're saying that if you work at a University, your "standards of performance" must suck, even if that University is MIT. Sounds pretty bigoted to me. No, again that's not what I said. Re-read. Here, I'll quote it for you:
the fact that there are a number of individuals that spend time in various roles in universities to avoid performing services in the private sector. Why did I mention this? Because university environments tend to have vastly different standards of performance then the private sector. What that means is exactly what it says - no need to interpret it or add in "must suck" to twist things - I'm not trying to hide some type of message in there.
It's a fact that I and other people have verified with our own eyes and freely admitted by staff that many university professors are as such to get away from various issues with the private sector, be it too high or too low expectations: whatever, take your pick.
Please, get off your soapbox and spare us your hyperbole.
Bigoted? What are you running for public office such that you find it necessary to use such foul adverbs? My comment had little to do with teacher's and their [in]ability to perform their jobs, and was merely pointing out a cliche for the fact that there are a number of individuals that spend time in various roles in universities to avoid performing services in the private sector. Why did I mention this? Because university environments tend to have vastly different standards of performance then the private sector.
His Bio says he's a research scientist, in addition to working with the EFF and various other organizations. Great. Terrific. He has a very impressive bio but little on it speaks of actual production work. He has a law degree and a Philosophy degree. Very cool.

Things are always obvious in hindsight.

"Project manager" and "Architect" are mutually exclusive. You can't be an expert in both, let alone have the time for both.

He works for myspace...
A testament to either how adopted the Ruby language is or the competency of the maintainers.

Yeah, must be. I can't wait to see Duke move, frame-by-frame, in Java....
(and I actually really like Java)
Why would you need to do that when you can use a widget to send SMS from the desktop?
Dog first, then tail...
