This was my biggest C-64 disappointment. I bought Ikari Warriors, and while I didn't expect it to match the arcade gfx shown, it was bad. It's on level with ET or Pac-Man on the 2600. I dubbed it Atari Warriors.
It was about 1983 when my family was moving away to a small rural town, and my dad had a 'surprise' for us waiting at the new place. My sister and I spent the trip speculating what toy awaited us. For me, I really wanted a big Lego set.
When I saw it, I literally said something like "It's nothing by an old Vic 20". Which my dad then said "Hey, we can take it back". I was excited to see it, but what I *really* wanted was a ColecoVision. At that point I knew it would never happen. Depressing.
It only took me a few days before we had a few games and I was typing in programs from the manual. The rest is history. C64 2 years later, Amiga 500 in 1991, Amiga 2000 in 1994, and finally to the dark side of a Windows Pentium II in 1997. And a computer science degree and a great job.
Just remember sometimes your parents knew what they were doing when you didn't get what you wanted.
amers are much more receptive to 'advergaming' than other potential consumers who block pop-up Internet ads
Well duh they are more receptive. Ads in games don't prevent you from playing the game. Pop up ads prevent you from seeing the page you are trying to look at. Maybe the advertisers can learn something from this.
The greatest classic arcade in the country is in Weirs Beach, NH, known as Funspot. It contains over 170 different classic games and has been site to Twin Galaxies tournaments over the years.
For a place near you, check out the classic arcade locations site.
It is preserved. I've long heard the roms are copied and there is no way this game will be 'lost'. It just will not be available to the masses anytime soon. Part of this guy's agreement in getting these games was that he would not release the roms. I for one applaud him for sticking to that.
BTW, I've played this game on 3 different occasions, and it isn't that great. That is why it wasn't released. It's only the lure of what-you-can't-have that makes this game great.:)
Seriously, how many times have us Star Wars fans said to just release the classic trilogy now, without fancy extras, on DVD? Sure the time frame on LoTR is much less, but it's giving the fans a choice, instead of holding it from them.
I have a CD collection of KQ 1-6, and unless I mistake it for another collection, it has an enhanced version for KQ 1 on it. I prefer the original... for people who played the original, we want to remember the original. New players however will probably find it impossible to play with the graphics of yesteryear....:)
Yankee Trader I believe was the initial version of TradeWars... I used to hurry home from junior high so I could beat the after school rush to the 1 line BBS. I never got into TW at all, but I'd love to see YT again somewhere.
And where's The Pit? That's the best door I ever played.

Must be geared towards HD Nature (Boy) videos.

As an IBM employee, I was shocked how virtually every internal app worked with Firefox right from the get go.
That's when I knew this browser was for real in terms of being an IE replacement.
And it still can't run Doom 3 at 60 fps.

It would be great to give those eyesores an additional purpose.
