American: "For example , if I were to walk into the White House, shout Ronald Reagan is a filthy thieving lying fuck, nobody would do anything to me." Soviet: "Hah! We got it even better. If I were to walk into the Kremel, and shout Ronald Reagan is a filthy thieving lying fuck, it'd get into the newspaper and I'd get a commendation, even."

I suspect that /. might be selling him slightly short - after all, he says he was promoted a while before that.
What I suspect happened is that he was a fine worker where he was, and someone up thought of promoting him. What resulted was him peacocking as he admits, and not being of particular use at his new place, even creating fuckups. Well, they couldn't quite demote him again because he'd read it as being a stop to his career and would leave anyways, not doing much in the meantime - the logical, if nasty option was to show him the door as unexpectedly as possible.
The actual lesson is: getting promoted doesn't mean you have everyone in your pocket yet.

People who take the most business risk are not those who accept salaried positions for jobs that somebody thinks to be necessary to make more profit, it's people who take the risk in terms of putting in their own savings, capital, time and effort into a venture that nobody ever guarantees to be a winner.

Which is why when a company keels over, the risktakers get golden parachutes, and the employes not taking any risks from their salaried positions get a foot up their arse.

Correct, you don't have a right to something at some price, unless you are granted one (it's called price regulation).
However, that's not the question here. The question here is whether the sellers should a) be allowed to exploit the fact that they can get information about your past transactions, and you can't easily get information on *their* past transactions. and b) whether they should be allowed to essentially set a price, then do "take it or leave it" ,without you ever being able to haggle back. This is not how any trade transaction in the world goes on, and I suspect if implemented, it'd bring people back to brick and mortar stores, rather than online oones.

Next step, cut off the fluff, leave the crunch exactly the same ,and have it pass as "Lisbon Treaty". Failed again, despite what was essentially bullying - i have heard politicians making asinine arguments (then, and later with the euro wall moneysink) that we're part of a collective and we have to abide by it's rules, completely ignoring that there's an election going on because we just like everyone else have a fucking right to decide.
Anyways, Ireland didn't pass it, so a few exceptions were thrown to appease them specifically, and there was a rehash , with the quiet voice behind the wall mumbling that if they won't pass the bill, it'll result in future unofficial sanctions
And voila, Lisbon treaty, which reinforces centralization of the EU and chops off a significant portion of constituent countries' rights, and voice, was passed.
Expect nothing less than the same grade bullshit with ACTA.
