This whole patent thing is really getting out of hand. It seems as if the patenting really serves no good purpose anymore.
When crooked companies go after other companies like this there is tons of litigation and, of course, the lawyers come out winning big. Why can't these small-time companies go make their money the hard way...?
When companies like Compaq or HP come under fire and loose a lot of money, where will that loss of money be translated to? That's right, the consumer. Prices will rise due to account for their loss.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is someone out there that has a patent on a breathing mechanism. They'll probably be suing God and every living breathing thing for all their worth...
The site does a pretty good job cutting out the middleman. He started to make money off the site first (enough to support it full time) and then went to paper...
Proprietary my eye...OpenAL, SDL (not directly), SDKs for Linux, editing tools, etc.
Did you ever use fenris? Politely contact them? I think you need to read your post that you originally made concerning your problem. You used a public forum yourself.
..and I don't see anywhere in the Loki rep post that you were called a liar (unless this is in another newsgroup than the one I'm looking at.). I think she went on to say that they were working with their distributor to make shipping options more clear.
Your anti-Loki campaign frankly sucks. So what if you had a problem with a distributor. I think Loki has cranked out an AMPLE supply of games that never would have made the light of day in Linux.
You say your not please with their attitude towards you, well, I think it goes both ways. I've read you posts on their newsgroups and thay are not too constructive.
I guess some people are just pricks...who can never be pleased.
I'm one of the guys who has FileMaker Pro at home. I've even gone to their annual conference.
However, that doesn't mean I know it all.:) The company I work for swears by the application. I've been designing, developing, and maintaining a human resources package for them for the last 1 1/2 years.
Eventually we'll be running the system over a WAN form 8-12 different locations. I know that FileMaker will not cut it for the needs that we have. Maybe as a thin-client. I've been lobbying for a couple of months now for us to use a SQL/XML web based solution that does the same thing. It will lower our costs (one server and no software expenses - we could just use a browser as the interface).
The main location (and possibly one other) are diehard Mac users. So far I've been able to switch our heavy dependednt servers over to linux whether it's on a PPC or Intel machine.
FileMaker is a great program because there is hardly any learning curve at all. However, I don't think it has the power for long range, data intensive applications over a WAN.
Anybody have any ideas as to what might be better?
I remember reading at msnbc.com that a Democrat Ok'd the ballot for use.
Of course, remember we're all getting our news from the national sources, and they've proved to us last Tuesday night and Wednesday morning that they have been wrong before - twice.
If the IOC is non-profit, what are they going to do with $705 million?
Costas rocks (read his book). However, can NBC botch things up anymore? Whatever happened with their "neutral" interview with the shot putter that is not competing but was tested positive for steroids. Why? Because he is married to Marion Jones (apologies if the name is misspelled). They have to find some dirt somewhere.
I thought it was pretty cool to hear that when NBC got there they didn't find him, but they found a press release.
In short, Gnome more resembles well-known commercial projects than does KDE. The
involvement of commercial software houses is supposed to improve this?
Which one to you looks more like a commercial product we all know about? (here or here)

Then the station should have never been built.
Press release:
Microsoft Windows YQ to feature cup-and-string audio technology.
Listen to your songs as Edison or Bell intended!
...but why didn't they take the money it took to come up with the idea and plans for Mir2 and pay for their part of ISS?
Russia, stop holding out, or get off ISS?
NASA and our government should have never relied on them for outside support.
Listen to the sounds...of silence.
Vaporware.
It's a shame too.

Agreed!
:)
I do hope that no matter what the problem it does get resolved for everyone involved.
I apologize for calling you names. It was low of me.
I remember the K5 article and I voted on it.

Jarod:"I am today."
orYou have The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Either way, it's really freaky stuff.

Keep up the good, controversial work.
What is a stroger?
But none of these issues will get much coverage or discussion, certainly not compared to the image of the Net turning young hearts dark and murderous.
No, but I know someone's writing who can...
Screw you, Katz!
If Bush is such an idiot what about the guy who "invented" the Internet.
You wrote this to get a rise out of poeple and it worked for me...

This is something that I'd expect over at BluesNews, not /.
Apollo 1
Wasn't it the velcro that was highly flammable in an oxygen rich atmosphere?
I imagine that the air composition and the velcro problems since then have been resolved...

They look almost the same to me.
I think the post is kind of misleading. The link to the pictures for the next Mario Kart game I believe are for the Gameboy Advance...
GameCube: like I said a couple of days ago in another post. Why is it everything has to have a cube name in it now?
Talk about name ripping: A GameCube that uses a PowerPC. That sounds similar to this. It's so appropriately named Gekko. Hmm...
A 56k modem and a proprietary storage system? (meaning: no DVD).
Forget it.
hehe.
I should have about 1000 of those downloads. The ftp site burped on me quite a few times. It was probably the connection between us.
It's great to see them getting some coverage in the Globe.
