I go to apple.com and almost all the machines come with OS9 and OSX 10.2 preinstalled.
However, I'd seriously think about getting a machine (iBook) if it came with Jaguar preinstalled. I don't want to have to purchase the hardware and then purchase an OS upgrade...
From what I understand, all broadcasters still must have their stations broadcasting digital signals by 2006 (some sooner depending on their size). The TV manufacturers are required to have the tuners by 2007.
I worked for a media group that owned 10+ television stations. We were in the process of converting them all over to meet the 2006 "mandate."
At our "favorite son" station (been broadcasting HD for a while), the broadcasts of the Olympics (yes, it is an NBC affiliate) were supurb! The video broadcast just blew things out of the water! Anybody see the speed skating? You could see very detailed reflections on the ice.
However, shows such as ER or Jordan's Crossing just looked the same to me. These were actually digital broadcasts, not just upsampled shows like what FOX did for the superbowl.
...Sim Invading Iraq to Keep Approval Ratings High.
Comments like this is just plain stupid...Plus, I don't believe it's going to happen. The current administration is using "other means necessary" to stop any type of terrorist activity there. I don't think terrorism has a statute of limitations.
I wonder how much is already going on that we don't know about, and I wonder how that can affect approval ratings? Of course, the only approval rating I'm concerned about is mine.
No matter what the hardships, it is being rolled out. I live in a community of 50,000 people and we already have HD simulcast on our NBC affiliate.
I work for a company that owns over ten television stations and we're simulcasting on half of them and others will be by next year.
Has anyone seen the Olympics on HD? It's incredible! The reflections on the ice, the shiney gold helmets. The detail in the fabric on the outfits! I could go on. Plus, the sound is great. You can actually hear the movements in the snow or ice.
We've taken the Olympic HD broadcast and pretty much aired it 24 hours over out HD channel.
Sadly, the film on HD shows up what appears to me to be the same (ER or West Wing). However, anything on video looks great.
You do have to be wary, Fox said that they broadcast the Superbowl in HD. This was the not case. They just letterboxed it and upsamlped the stream. It made for some great pixelation at the end when they threw out the confetti.
It'll get there, and the TV set prices will be cheaper, eventually. Until then, I and the other 10+ people in our community will enjoy it.
...this is a good article, and if it's not, it's at least a thought provoking one.
The idea of a corporate republic is a very frightening one. It all involves one thing: money.
I guess this is why we have anti-trust lawsuits, campaign finance reform, software licenses, and subscription-based formats. Not only will we soon have to pay an annual fee to use some software, we may soon have to pay a subscription fee to get that burger at the drivethru...
BIG CORPORATION:...but it's all for the benefit of the little man
just a CD case rattling around inside a box that is about 10 times larger, by volume, than necessary to hold the case.
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri from Loki comes in a cool DVD-style case. The packaging is the case. Even though money is still spent on designing the cover, it wasn't lost on crappy cardboard, wasted inserts, and other such stuff.
Does there have to be a linux port for every known game in order for it to be news? Linux this, linux that. Yeah, linux is great, but it won't solve all the world's problems...I'd say about 99%. Besides, I don't think Westwood does ports of their games...
I just want to see him dance like a rabid monkey again...
I meant OS9 and OSX 10.1 preinstalled in my first sentence (even after previewing...geesh).

At least my local Starbucks is getting it...
Of course, they could use a Starbucks in the South Pole...

A guy walks into a Ford dealer and buys a brand new Thunderbird. He hates the color and want a more powerful engine. He also wants it to run on water.
He changes the color, tricks it out, and adds a water chip to the catalytic converter to let him run it with water.
Henry Ford rolls over in his grave and his truck-loving-great-grandson comes to your house and blows your head off...
Do we see other companies besides Microsoft doing this?
what would happen if Hollywood suddenly got the "bright" idea to limit 35mm reel distribution within the next few years?
/., it'll probably happen much sooner.
Well, now that it's posted on
Doh!
I dunno. In AoTC, I saw a lot of Jedi drop to the ground.
Not that any
I just wonder how many

It took me six months and threatened legal action to cancel my Earthlink account!
What about Black and White. Wouldn't that be a society?

Money and control of that money, namely yours.
Just where in the Atlantic is it located? I thought it had sunk in the Gulf of Mexico. Maybe my history is all messed up.
I had a Visor for a while but ended up selling it. Why?
I've had better luck with my Day Runner. I especially like the business/casual edition.
Plus, it's much cheaper and completely upgradeable.

(I couldn't find any news on a Linux port. Argh!)
