Have you ever used maemo or meego? Maemo is perfect for developers/geeks. Meego is perfect for everyone else. All the backends/insides are the same, BTW.
They didn't even need to change platform, just keep doing what they were doing already.
I dont' *have* a google account, yet, every once in a while, I get "personal results", and pictures of people I know who have google accounts. That's scary!
I don't know how this works in the US, but in some countries, by being a public figure, or political figure, you immediately loose part of your privacy - a picture of you in a public space can be publish, while it can't if you're not a public figure.
I was having a really hard time understanding why it's pi day, thanks for this details. I find the US date format extremely confusing, being that ISO date format is used day to day, and, ocassionally, the DD/MM/YY format. Standards are not really something the US seems to like.
My main desktop and my main laptop both run linux, and all the other systems I use, run BSD, so I don't have access to "other supported platforms". Most non-geek linux-users won't have more than a single PC either.
As for installers, etc, desura might be an interesting choice for them, they've got their work cut out for them.
If you use a cross-platform framework/language/engine, porting to a second platform can be under 1% of the cost. Some just make sure they use wine-compatible stuff, and package their game with a certain version of wine. There's almost-zero cost there.
It's not everywhere you phone is free. I purchased a Nokia N900 (it's from 2009), used, for half a months salary here. And I'm pretty much middle class as well. So I'd rather take care of it, since buying another in two years is out of the question.
I've a friend who purchased the phone from his carrier. He's not a computer geek even remotely, and I saw him using apt-get to install packages, and downloading ".deb" files and installing them with no problem on the phone he bought from his carrier.
Well, Argentina is no in the dropdown box when you try to sign up as a seller, so that lists doesn't prove any point. Only US and UK are listed for me (don't ask me why).

I actually use wine. You'd be surprised how many games work fine nowadays.

Actually, can't you just edit /etc/hosts, as you would on a desktop computer?

Plenty of people don't have google accounts.
I've no need for a G+ account, or any other service. I can use google search without any sort of account.
Yeah, and I've to click it every time I do a search. Or reaaally often if not every time.

Also, most of them drink and/or eat once in a while! Anyone fitting this profile should be sampled!
That's 33hs a day, or 28hs per day if you even work on saturdays, that makes no sense... unless you live in pluto that is. That's be very light work.
Many distros enable password login by default. If posible, this should be disabled as well.
Because it's the only thing that works in most countries. Hell, it's one of the few that even exists outside the US.

Why didn't you make me laugh this hard when I still had mod points!?

Anyone who cares about security, would use vnc over SSH, and properly configure SSH as well.
Buy digital in that case, that way, you can pay the EU price instead of the AU price.

I am single, childless, AND irresponsable! :)

The performance and interface is magnificient. I actually envy it a bit, but the keyboard on the N900 tips the balance in the end.

AT&T? That's a new Android device I'd never heard of.
Look like you've never heard of maemo.
