    To me, the whole problem is that Elop had 3 different OSes (fighting internally for resources) and then he though to put all 3 OSes in the garbage and take another one. Nokia could improve Symbian (big costs to improve the system itself, small costs in changing mindsharing) OR improve Meego (not so big costs improving the system, bigger costs creating another software ecosystem and gaining mindshre). But no! Let's try another complete new thing. something that don't have mindshare, don't have software ecosystem and it's not even ready yet! Looks like a fantastic idea! Nokia, in the bottom line, though they could stop de time for 3 years and, after this time, enter the market again.

But a single failure (4 core but still one system) killing 573 (plus long-term deaths) is a lot. Ow, yes, and one more thing: there is a lot of land that will be not usable for decades. Even the salt of the water from the tsunami don't do such thing.

    Look, I'm tired of speeding being the most enforced rule on the road. From what I experienced, speeders are focused on their driving, and less likely to put others around them to sleep. Yet, I never seen cops pull over people for failure to use turn signals or any other offense.

    That's true. Speeders are, usually, drivers who pay lots of attention to what they are doing. However, IF they do something wrong, it will be WAY worst. Anyway, speed tickets are a lazy and inefficient way of making roads safer.

    That kind of thinking is what will kill Internet as we know it. . Web 'developers' (yes, with ' ') are the kind of people that turned the internet something really different from TV, Radio and other kind of media that only a few people could use. . 'correct code' usually means a code that just a professional could write. And that's not the kind of Internet I want.

    It's not the possibilities of phishing that create phishing, but the will and greed of people. Even if phishers can't use a domain name, they'll use just a IP address. And people who believe that 'mybank.ru' is really they bank will equally believe that 'xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' is their bank.

    So, again, the problem isn't the nuclear technology itself, but the lack of commitment and the problem with the model of management. And the question that I make to myself about nuclear reactors is: Is possible a good enough level of commitment and a almost perfect model of management (state managing have problems, corporations have other problems too. so...)?

    I think they will just reboot everything. It will probably fail - and they already know it. But when fails, all the old fans will look at the old timeline with nostalgy, raising the value of the old storyline. Then they will come back to what works and sells. Selling more, of course.

    For me, Bill Gates is the symbol of the junk-microsoft: DOS, windows 3.1; 95; 98; Me. As far as I see the history of Microsoft, since Gates left the CEO chair, things are slightly better. And, finally, the problem isn't Ballmer, but the fact that a company can't be the only big player in the entire sector forever.

    Right now we know that mark 1 reactors are flawed. At the time they built until the first major accident, no. There is a excessive hubris that makes people to believe in all new technologies and marking as '-1' comments that try to point it out.

    Major accidents have all been Mark 1 reactors JUST BECAUSE Mark 1 reactors are OLDER. and It's pretty clear that there is a correlation between AGE and accidents. When the mark 2 reactors begin to be old, major accidents will happen as well.

    Defending themselves from countries like USA is not a thing that 'affect them'? If nuclear weapons are so bad, why most rich countries have them in the first place? Come on, dictadorship is bad. But being invaded by another country is way worst.

    That's true, demongbug. However, the whole concept of taxes is build on the ideia of services. So, you can, of course, put yout 'intelectual property' outside of the country. But then, don't expect that your property to be recognized as yours in this country.
