There was a test demonstration, on Hiroshima. The Japanese did not believe that many more bombs could be prepared so they did not capitulate. So 3 days later the second bomb was deployed.
Given what we know from what actually happened, a bombing off the coast or wherever would have had even less of an effect than a bombing of a city and Japan still would not have surrendered.
Do you still want to believe that you somehow know how things should have been done 60 years ago that no one else was able to figure out?
Unfortunately, with every viewpoint, including Libertarianism, there is the textbook definition of the viewpoint, and then there are the actual common people that subscribe to the viewpoint. Many times the people that associate themselves with a viewpoint alter it for their own purposes in ways incompatible with the textbook definition. Those people can also be less than articulate in their portrayal of their views to other people and can cause further confusion.
I find it's best to not try and lump everyone under this convenient labels. There are enough people that consider themselves Libertarian to give us many differing and in some cases incompatible definitions of what Libertarian is.
It's not that money itself is the problem. The problem is that the money is overwhelmingly held by a small minority of the population. That minority then effectively gets more representation than they should.
OK, I did a quick search. Yes it was misdirected what was done to Mr. Eich. Supporting either side of a ballot proposition is totally acceptable and within his rights. In his case, his views clearly were not outrageous as enough of the population agreed with him to pass the proposition.
Too many people have this with us or against us mentality. People that disagree with each other are a healthy part of the democratic process.
Are you assuming that this firearm/watch is connected to the world and is a general computing device that can be reprogrammed? I believe it just gets a signal from the watch to enable firing. Unless the government could blast out a jamming signal over the entire country and continue to do so, I don't see how they can remotely disable every firearm. They may be able to jam the signal of an individual person, or people in a specific area, but it would only be while they were actively jamming the signal.
This just shows that police are like everyone else. They are afraid of changes and susceptible to doubtful accusations of new things.
The magazine safety is just an additional mechanical safety. No real difference from a grip safety, and those have been tested for over 100 years. People just like to become creative writers and come up with all sorts of possible scenarios where they won't have a magazine loaded, but need to shoot that one in the chamber.
It's still misdirected anger to attack an Armatrix employee. The New Jersey legislators passed that law, and that is who people should be angry at if they don't like this. It's probably less fun for them to send various threats to state legislators that make bills rather than some employee at a company trying to pay her bills.
Really? do you honestly believe that everyone on this planet owes someone or some company money?
You really need to get out of your mom's basement from time to time.
Personally, I owe no one any money. sure I have Credit Cards but I clear the bill before the statement is issued, otherwise I owe no one anything. Before anyone asks, I own my own home and don't have a mortgage. I cleared that years ago. If I can't afford to pay for something in full, I simply don't buy it. It might do a few more people to follow that advice.
You also have a crap credit score, if that's true.
I'm generally not "in debt" by most people's standards - even pay cash on a new roof, but every few years I'll buy something financed or run a balance or something that keeps my score up.
Because life isn't predictable and some day having a good credit rating may make the difference between being able to maintain my lifestyle and property over a period of interrupted income or losing things I'd rather keep. Or at least paying lower interest while I'm recovering.
You absolutely do not need to run a balance periodically to keep a high credit score. The age of your credit is a factor, so just holding those credit cards through the years will help. The current amount of your available credit that you have used is a factor as well. Using more of your available credit is a negative. I assure you that what you are talking about doing is not needed to have a credit rating over 800. No one would consider an 800+ rating to be crap. It is an old wives' tale that you need to be paying finance charges to have good credit. It's just common sense that someone with the discipline to pay off their credit charges every month is a better credit risk than someone that carries a balance and takes months to pay off some charges.
To the best of my knowledge, hands free communication on a cell phone is generally allowed as it is about as distracting as talking to a passenger. Using one hand to hold a cell phone to your ear while driving is clearly worse than talking to a passenger.
$40 per user seems extremely high, at least compared to my utility bills it is. They couldn't possibly get enough information from me to justify the cost. Google may be able to sell this to utilities right now, but those utilities are bound to smarten up and cancel these deals in the future.
They also treat their investors like crap. Absolutely no return of capital to investors in the form of a dividend, and few actual stock buy backs. They just recently split the shares of the company, but did so in a way to give out new shares with absolutely 0 voting rights. Then they did some ticker symbol trickery so that people that buy GOOG are now buying the shares with no voting rights.
Yeah, totally awesome of that guy to dissuade the student from switching to an Economics degree because getting an English degree is problematic!? Sounds to me like the guy doesn't know anything except he wants CS degrees. Nothing wrong with getting an Econ degree. There're certainly plenty of good paying jobs for them.
You can wipe your ass with paper copies. Rip the pages out and cover the walls and windows of your house. Make paper mache with it. Cut up the headlines to make an old fashioned ransom note. Plenty of advantages to paper.
I think you're just a terrible person. Shutting out your parents from interacting with their grandchildren because they criticized you. What a rational response. I would think most children would be very understanding in comparison to you.
I don't have much to say about the projectiles failing, but what is shown falling away from the projectile in the video is a sabot. It is used to launch projectiles that don't mate perfectly with the barrel.
Nothing is free. Thermodynamics ensures that.
Gibbs free energy. It's got "free" right in its name.

There is clear precedent that certain forms of speech are not protected under the 1st amendment. That includes death threats and harassment.

I have no idea who Brendan Eich or the rainbow coalition are. I assure you there's no hypocrisy.

The most dangerous weapon is the one that doesn't work when you need it.
Just to be further pedantic about this, the most dangerous weapon is the one threatening you that makes you get a weapon for defense.

Nobody cares what you find exciting or your definitions of common words.
Yes, the whole concept of catching something to eat is so pointless.
There are certainly many ways to fish. If sitting in a boat with a pole is too boring for you, try jumping in the water with a harpoon.

Kids being out of college and self-supporting is becoming a myth for many people as well.

Fair enough. There definitely are connectors that can pull a lot of juice. I'm curious to know what USB devices will be using 100W in the future.
Did you see the gauge of wires attached to that connector? Here's the harness. Notice the description of 12 gauge wires.
