Really, you can argue a bit about causation if you want, but at this point in time there is no credible argument about the actual trend in temperature. The idea that the earth is not warming is sheer poppycock.
False analogy. It wasn't that big of an accident, and Chevron isn't a small company in danger of going bankrupt over the damages associated with this case.
Also you might want to clean up your spelling a bit.
This is clearly an unconstitutional restraint of journalism.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.
Press freedom in the US has been under pressure for a long time, and rankings from JWB are notoriously volatile. For example the US had a large INCREASE in press freedom rankings last year, going from 47th to 33rd. It's preposterous to draw a partisan political conclusion from results that depend primarily on a couple of cases in from of the judiciary.
My broadband price has been increasing about 5% per year. Along with that I've also been getting regular speed increases. Right now it's 100/30 Mbps up/down.
You can pick these skills up from online courses and self-study. College would through you in with a bunch of software engineering newbs and cost you way more than you need to spend.
Except that isn't true. Various jurisdictions in Europe have problematical laws and positions regarding free speech on the internet that you haven't touched on.
Some examples include abusive libel laws, especially in GB, and lese-majesty laws still in force in Norway, Spain, Denmark and the Netherlands.
Belgium has a long history of blocking web sites that are engaged in 'naughty' activities such as sharing files, scalping tickets and selling drugs such as diet pills online.
France has in place three-strike legislation and offices of several online media firms and their journalists were targeted for break-ins and court summons and pressured to identify their sources. On 14 October 2011 a French court ordered French Internet service providers to block the Copwatch Nord Paris I-D-F website.
In April 2013 DCRI forced the deletion of the article when it summoned a volunteer with administrator's access to the French language Wikipedia and ordered him to take down the article that had been online since 2009. DCRI claimed the article contained classified military information and broke French law.
And this is just Western Europe. The former soviet bloc members like Poland and Estonia have much bigger issues.
Yes, class rank is problematic, however as this article points out so is GPA.
When I was an engineering student some 25 years ago the engineering school Valedictorian had a 3.4 GPA. A C was the the average grade. A's were hard to get.
Now the top 10% of the class has a 4.0 GPA.
Since recruiters are looking for a particular skill set they aren't going to be comparing Applied Physics majors to Art History majors.
Your second objection applies regardless of whether class ranking or GPA is used.
If schools had a consistent policy as to how classes were graded the expediency of using class rank would not be needed. However that's not the case.
Right now class rank is more meaningful.
Sadly I hear nowadays that's under pressure too. Some high schools are awarding Valedictorian to multiple students.
I've had 100% success with companies trying to stiff me by writing to the BBB and the Attorney General of the state the company was incorporated in.
Sometimes the letters back in response to the Attorney General are really funny. Basically they are bowing and scraping. Tinged with a definite aura of fear of God.
It's easy too. Most states have web sites for consumer complaints you can submit the the AG's office.
Not all 401Ks are high cost. It's often worth lobbying your HR department to get good low cost investment options. A few Vanguard or Fidelity Spartan funds made a huge difference.
Get a company like Vanguard in there to run your 401K plan and you will be very happy that your investment options are offered by the same company that runs your plan. They are brilliant.
Also in this mobile world it pays to roll over to a IRA as soon as you can so you can pick the low cost funds yourself. Don't let that 401K sit around.
It's pretty much always a no-brainer to contribute enough to your 401K in order to get the company match. That's usually an instant 50% return on your money. Every serious financial analysis makes that the first savings priority.
As far as the issue of tax rates, early in retirement it's generally possible to delay taking social security for a couple of years, and use that time to convert your 401K to a ROTH plan at extremely low tax rates.
The article you linked to is not very credible because it misses both of these extremely important considerations that make 401K plans a critical part of retirement planning.
Another factor to consider when reading this sort of thing when written by a financial planner is that these people have a vested interest in discouraging people from using 401Ks - money in these plans is not available to them and the outrageous fees they charge for the privilege of putting you into ill-advised investments.
You raised the point of Economics 101 - and it turns out that the best way to benefit from the economics of this is in fact to sell the finished products to the highest bidder. The idea that 'sucking the oil out of the midwest' is harmful to the economics of the region or the country is incorrect. Cheap oil price is not the best way to benefit from this resource.
There are several datasets that show a long term warming trend. 17 years is a clear attempt to cherry pick data as outlined in this Forbes article.

From the pictures of the site Chevron didn't have to give out too many certificates. The area is REALLY sparsely populated.
Arctic ice rebounded somewhat from the all-time record low of 2012.
However It was still the 6th lowest level on record.

The problem is the lack of context in whatever warped source you are reading.
The PLANET is getting warmer. The eastern half of the United States experienced a cold winter.
The reason it matters is the DMCA. That's clearly the government interfering with free speech and journalism.
As the Founders said, Congress can't make a law that does that.
This is clearly an unconstitutional restraint of journalism.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.
Come on man.
The index of economic freedom is a ridiculous partisan effort from a well known extremely radical organization.
Complete bullshit really.

Probably replace my policy of ripping a new asshole where needed to burning a new asshole where needed.

Don't try to put forth the idea that free speech protections in the EU are as liberal as they are in the US, because it flat out isn't true.

Switched circuit calling is not fundamentally more resilient than statistical packet switching. In fact it's the other way around.
The problem is states like MS have low value added economies, poor residents and crummy education systems.
Their residents have very limited class mobility.
