I really don't know where that line is, but I think I have a very good idea. Most of these so-called "blogs" that people share these items on, are created purely for profit. They list books and audio video content, add a cursory review (and often not even that) and monetize their site. If these sites didn't allow, or if ISPs didn't allow, people sharing copyrighted content to profit from it, it would quicky revert back to a few people sharing something purely out of a desire to share, period.
Logic isn't going to carry much weight with people that have a hate-on for the poor.. Why blame greed and the "american way" of spend spend spend, when you can blame the most disadvantaged for your problems instead? Many of those blamed actually have jobs, but at sub-poverty level wages are unable to meet their basic expenses , even after they're encouraged to apply for welfare subsidies by their employer to top up their wages (such as Walmart, who do this as a matter of practice) . The rest likely couldn't actualy obtain work if they had to anyways. There's an argument that just *might* hit them where it hurtds though. How's this? After this the homeless population quadrupled within months, and since nobody will hire someone living on a street corner, emergence medical expenses (paid for by the taxpayer) skyrocketed.. crime and policing costs (paid for by the taxpayer) skyrocketed, the streets changed from the safest in Canada to the most dangerous almost overnight.. costs of implementing this new social policy nearly bankrupted the government, so taxes (hidden and property) went way up.. and conditions are still so bad they are now irreversible. The government in quesation is long gone now though, so they don't have to accept responsibility. All it was, was the old trick of transferring costs from clearly visible ones, to buried ones so nobody could discern where they went. Social support was never invented, originally, as a "compassionate" measure by the "bleeding hearts", but rather, as a wise security buffer by the wealthy, trained in Keynesian classical economics, to keep their assetts secure. Knowing, after all, that unless the bottom 10% have minimal food and shelter, that the economic ramifications trickle up all the way through the chain, eventually dangerously impacting the top 10%. How would an ISP block them, however? The only mechanism I know about would be DNS blocking, whenthe DNS server is supplied by the ISP.. Is there some new British trick where pages of certain sites could be selectively blocked? If so, how long before "politically sensitive" human rights pages would be blocked, or whistle blower pages? As I'm sure has already been said about this issue, this is the "thin edge of the wedge"... and a very big wedge indeed..;-(

Apple's position is not that you can't run an iOS app on your Mac. They provide an emulator for free with the development kit. Apple's position is that you generally don't want to run iOS applications except on a phone or tablet. They may be wrong (although there's a distinct lack of apps on my iPhone that would make sense on my desktop or laptop computers), but it's a conscious decision.
Sorry, but that "emulator" is a similator only.. It requires the original code of the app to run, and can't do anything but surf the web, the other "apps" are dummies. It's only applicatiion is to let devs see how their app would behave on an iOS device. It can't run external iOS apps. As far as wanting to run these apps on OSX, perhaps there's similar productivity apps for the OSX platform, but when it comes to games such as pinball, over 90% of the currently available ones are iOS only. Since the developers of many keep promising to port them to OSX, but never do, an emulator is currently the only optionsort of having several devices for all the games, short of an iOS layer in OSX..
For the record, the United States is not the problem in Peurto Rico. They've held multiple referendums about independence, statehood, etc... They continue to choose the status quo each time, by a narrow margin. We've never even had the opportunity to address statehood in Congress because they've never gotten that far, and we can't force statehood OR independence down their throats. WEll, not quite. Apple doesn't add essential security updates to pre Lion (10.7) systems. Since the rot set in after 10.6.8, many users are still on these OS versions simply because they're more accessible.. i.e. no new "improvements", and of course, many (like me) have just THOUSANDS of $ invested in software that is entirely obsoleted by 10.7 and up systems. These are developers that have either been bankrupted , or driven out of business, by the endless "improvements" in OSX (like the highly respected "Little Wing pinball", or Unsanity, creators of "Shapeshifter"), or they no longer supply updates to their OSX software. Using Snow Leopard, which is the last version to support the last 10 years worth of OSX software, exposes you to everyt malignant code for OSX in existence. Apple believes that the risk of infecting those user's computers with worms or trojans is good for the company's bottom line, somehow.... or what they are implying is that there is NO such malware after all...
