Yup, Canada is a good example. "Not available in Canada".. OK let's see.. where have I seen that lately.. Oh.... Amazon, NEtflix, Hulu, even YouTube "Not available in your country".....um OK we can get low bitrate mp3s though from iTunes.. WHOOPEE;-(.. and AllFlac if it weren't that they no longer can process Canadian credit cards..
Wow ain't "Freedom" grand..
Ah yes.. Mine was not being the first to get whipped by the nuns, so that they broke the yardstick ion some other kid's palms. Rarely racial undertones though, as the schools were so segredated that you'd never see a "pink" person in a native school , or an "indian" in a non-native school. Nuns beat us all equally though, anyways;-). I'm not at all angry about it now, but I swear, I can't figure out why teachiing nuns hated kids...
It only goes to show you how atrocious the Bush administration really was, that out of relief they would give a nobel to anyone, just ANYONE who got rid of him and his party. It was incredibly foolish though, as they didn't have the common sense to realize that once you give a government power, any power, they never surrender it, Obama simply couldn't believe his luck at all the power thrown his way by the "keep us safe from the monster under the bed" crowd. Fact iis nobel peace prize council already lost all their credibility by giving one to Yassir Arafat.. I mean can you believe it? Really don't think there's ANYTHING they can do to restore any semblance of honor. Giving one to Snowden *might* be a start though...
Yes, the First lady wasn't yet the first lady at the time, but just a black woman who had seen firsthand the terrible way things really were, and made the mistake of speaking her mind. She hasn't repeated *that* mistake!. The prez also appears black, but has betrayed those of every creed and color. I would have been a lot happier if Jesse Jackson Jr had been the first black US president...
Even POW's have rights..Now via the Geneva accord, but even before then... Only coiuntries to ignore such conventions entirely and without conscience have been North Korea, Japan, Germany, and now the US..
Aw c'mon.. blaming the Feds for the whole data collection deal, is like blaming a crackhead for grabbing a huge rock off the table when it's right in front of him.. The people responsible are the ones who make the rules. Spies and agents are gonna be spies and agents to the best of therir ability and will listen to every possible wiretap, collect every bit of personal info, and basically violate every constitutional right in existence to get their info. That's their job. Unless someone in government sets limits, like they're supposed to. That's THEIR job. That's why it was possible for a Fed to deliver that keynote address, just like cops go to funerals right alongsides Mafia families, or outlaw bikers, and grieve for the lost, right alongside them. And then try to bust them the next day...
So, the hackers, and the feds, lose this uneasy truce they had between them.. but the truly guilty parties, in positions of power, get off scott free... Nice..
Mandatory strong encryption.. as long as encryption is optional then you're a target.. as in "encrypted harddrive? Ooh let's call up the NSA hackers.. we've got a live one here". If EVERYBODY has to encrypt their data though, then no more "if you didn't do anything wrong, you'd let the examiners peek up your asshole!"
As for myself, although I find dropbox quite invasive, I've lost just too much data, so I'd use it if it were more practical. I can't move that muchh data back and forth though without incurring the wrath of Shaw cable... in their opinion anyone moving that much data is "stealing movies" and inmmediately gets throttled, and I don't have super super fast internet anyways.. although a coupe of times i've observed speeds of 10 megs a second that's as fast as she goes.
Ever get so damn sick of the slimeballs in Positions of Power that you actually puke? I'd never heard of such a thing before, until now. I only wish their heads had been in the bowl...
I don'tthink it's "quite" correct that people neccesarily harte change. I've seen a lot of really GOOD changes over the years using MAcs, the biggest, of course being the change to OSX. DIdn't like it at first. got used to it and liked it better. Then the change to intel. didn;'t like it at first. got used to it again rather quickly , and liked it better.
Change for "changes sake", like what Tim Cook has done since S. Job's death, is a different matter entirely. Same with Vista. Never got used to Lion, ML -How do you get "used" to something that breaks all the most essential functions, and offers no alternative (unless you have a spare couple of grand) etc, or , again, Vista.. "Ballmer's Folly"..All junk. WIndows 7 redeemed M$.until Win8\, anyways.. Nothing so fortunate for Apple.
Change is good. Bad change, or change for either the benefit of the corporation, or the shareholders, instead of the customer, however, is the current direction , and I don't see that changing.
Incorrect. In fact, after Apple came out with the atrocious Lion, and then even worse ML and then "Mavericks" (WTF is up with THAT name?). I was planning to switch to windows. Then they came out with 8.. and I had second thoughts. then I checked out "Blue" preview. ENOUGH!
I just downloaded a copy of mint cinnamon (now why haven't they named anything "mint chocolate"?
Come hell or high water, that's my new OS...
"providing generous assistance to the US" would imply the UK is fighting wars (overt and covert) over a quarter of the planet.
And what about the war on your own citizens. The US hardly has a monopoly on that either...
This is where Google Music, Amazon Music, and Apple have it all over records, or concerts, or even word of mouth.

No.. this is where radio *used* to come in the only way a new artist ever got exposure was with what could be referred to as "push" advertising.. ie.. radio playlists. If people have to *choose* which one to try out, they will usually pick the closest easiest sample to audition, and will not be sitting in front of YT all day, or Amazon, clicking different songs. Sure, sometimes.. and if you're an artist with a new release you MIGHT get lucky that they've auditioned your stuff and liked it.. FIRST TIME!. Yeah, right..
Why is radio different? Well, for one, rotating playlists.. this guarantees that there's a likelihood of your track being heard *several* times, which is what it takes for any hook to catch on. And, hooks sell songs. Period. Secondly, the material is a playlist comprised of some things the listener would NEVER choose, at *first listen*.. most of the best material takes several listens.. again, this point is related to the first. LAstly, radio operates in the BACKGROUND.. it m,ay be "push" promotion, but it's unobtrusive. It allows ione to do other things while sampling material. And, even on material we never sold a single record of (like most.. hah!), when playing it at gigs, the listener's familiarity with the material drew the audience in closer...
That' all...
Look, basically, Brussels runs the world already. The EU is subservient to the mandates dictated by the UN, same as the USA. Any self righteousness about US spying is the "pot calling the kettle black". Europe, in general, and the UK especially, have taken the art of spying on their own citizens to heights never anticipated by GO in 1984. Furthermore, they were NEVER burdened by any constitution they may have had to illegally circumvent, but only the ECHR, which did not have the force of law.. Furthermore, for the first time in recorded history, there is nowhere to hide, no "land of the free" to run to. Unless, of course, one is willing to bear venomous snakes, exotic bugs and toxic foliage, oppressive heat and a loincloth as "de rigueur" noveau chic in the Amazon jungle;-). My sister lives in Africa (Tanzania) so i know from her that it's no longer the "deep dark jungle" , but a technologically aware "cosmopolitan jungle", if admittedly a cash strapped one. She is a registered nurse, her husband is a doctor, but he cannot make ends meet. Miserable Canada immigration will not let him in here even though his legal wife is a Canadian citizen, so he lives poor, but STILL has a smartphone, like most Africans. That means that as long as you have the phone, "they" will find you. AFAIK, only the South American jungle tribes do not use cellphones;-) Plus, Landsat, and probably most other spy satellites cannot penetrate the Amazon canopy, even if it can view a bug on a 2 inch leaf. Nor can you 'chute down into there, as your fall would be broken by 20 feet thick canopy, followed by several hundred feet straight drop to the ground, probably on top of a hungry viper. Ouch! Even the ants there are deadly....
No road access either.. or 'copter, or plane , or kite. You walk or take the Great River....
That is the ONLY private place left on this entire planet. Until we get that big CME, anyways..,Ed Dames' "Killshot"..
I doubt it....who still uses IE5? Oh... Nt 351 geeks like me.. ah well, 16 bit exploits were rare there never was a 32 bit IE5 fir the early fully 32 bit MS top of the line OSs..
Why should there have been when IE3 32 bit ran so securely on windows 95B..
Ahh JS "exploits"..those were the days!.. I bought a HUGE vinyl collection from work i got because of Windows PCs back then
Yes, "within their rights since they are a private company".. with the ONLY alternative to the mainstream news media (via YT).
Private or not, when you become the only means by which a free media can exist, you have taken on a serious responsibility, whether you like it or not.
Just because *today* it's smut, who's to say that * tomorrow* it won't be opposing political views, or perhaps news they don't want you to hear..
If this doesn't worry the shit out of you, you haven't been paying attention to the ever tightening noose that's been discreetly placed around all of our necks...
That's right..keep your mouth shut/.. you never know who's listening... the secret police are everywhere.. don't say anything that could get the attention of the KGB... oops.. I meant DHS...

Does the US own part of Cuba, to put a prison there anyways?
I'm amazed the Media didn't manage to convict him, despite how hard they tried.
Good point. And, it's probably worthy news to report. I csn't for the life of me figure out why iit's on /. , however... Was Zimmerman a geek?
