    And even with a lot of the code and content ripped out of it (like the music) for copyright reasons, and despite not being under the GPL, it still has a fair number of people modding and improving it. If you aren't going to make money on a property anyway, the good will from such a gesture could help your other products.

    Actually, that was me, but when I hit submit the screen went blank, and when I refreshed the Slashdot page it didn't show up, so I retyped the comment under my user name rather than AC. Since I own the copyright, I'm free to copy it to another location, albeit accidentally. :)

    I thought I was "licensing the content," not "buying the CD." Shouldn't I be able to put my licensed content wherever I want?

    Until the companies offer free download replacement of the music I am (ahem) licensing, so I can store that content on a blank CD or wherever else I want, why should I care what they consider "affordable"?

    Considering that Symantec recommended uninstalling Spybot S&D to "protect" Norton Ghost (this after their antivirus gave Spybot a false positive -- you'd think they'd be a bit more careful), I think it's cool they've been hoisted by their own retard...er petard.

    Look up voting methods, with keywords like Kemeny, Condorcet, and Borda. A lot of search engine algorithms are like vote aggregation methods, where each site "votes" for other sites it has links to. There is quite a bit of stuff on spam page filtering and the like as well.
