Ok,
1) is it a trade off (email for ads) or does the university get email AND money?
if only email then the compsci's should be doing it. ( and no tutition increase)
2) just because you wear commercials doesnt mean the rest of us do. i personally have 2 shirts with products on them
a) debian: when code matters more then commercials
b) Total world domination, with a small tux on the back
the rest of my shirts dont have writing on them at all (well one with "fsck" but thats it).
i dont have cable TV. none of my music is from RIAA members. I use only one non-OSS piece of software ( pseudo DB/organizer) under wine.
however there are many things i still use that are based on commercials. i use Tide (although i found a better product i just dont remember the name:) ) and bounce. a land line from BELL and a cell from fido (big name in canada dont know about you guys), and i drink coke
basically this rant is because some one assumed that i have a levis T-shirt and shouldnt complain about ads. please dont base my lifestyle on yours. if i had yours i would shoot myself.
disclaimer: although i am aware of the highly programmable state of many of the citizens on this planet i didnt actually mean to shoot himself and do not take responsibility for him doing so.
when ever i had a problem with kernel versions against modules version i just open the module in VI and search for the version number (this case 2.2.5) and overwrite it with 2.2.16. worked for the sblive pre-oss drivers, although when i installed the nvidia x11 drivers the only problem i had was the MESA as and other poster put it "their not kidding"
mind you it works with mesa drivers u just dont get hw glx
MS in the past have created competition to ward off anti-trust
is this a way of say "hey we are competitors with Intel AMD IBM are several other companies as well"
so basically they are no longer an monopoly because they entered another market
i know that its all seperated but a judge might be more *understanding* if they are in a market where they dont have an monopoly
or are they asking for more trouble because they are (will) be optimizing their OS to their chip?
it took me 6 installs to figure out what the hell it was doing and when my dumb ass finally figured it out i was awe struck. Never again will i use a non-debian distro.
u just take off the suggested depends if you dont want them (thats why they are labeled sugested)
What's wrong with research without a practical application?
This is EXACTLY the point.
Too many companies only do projects to have a product at the end. And then they complain that they are behind or dont have the training to do some other practical project.
Historically the most used inventions were made by mistake. How does anyone expect to create something REALLY good when the outcome is already set in stone.
Have a program that takes a DVD, reads values off the DVD and uses that Data to generate the source code.
They would have to BAN the DVD that was used. (assumingly) How you ban this: MPAA LAWYER: this program reads offset 0xD98AC8F2 of regionX of Air Force One DVD, then offset 0x29A..... blah blah blah JUDGE: umm yeah?!

You wouldnt even have to unencrypt the data. just raw read
They have been holding off on the 2 button idea for a while now. why?
If the media knows that ppl want 2 buttons then there must be a large demand for it.
Many of these mac users want to stop pressing mouse/keyboard combos in order to get to certain menus. Makes sence, why not let them have 2 buttons?
I wonder, is a an attempt to force mac users to stay with mac OS? How motivated are you to install an OS (linux) whos GUI reccomends 3 buttons when you only have 1 button avalible?
I honestly think thats a silly way of looking at it, because if the processor is truly so much faster then I might enjoy running my os of choice on faster hardware. But to invest money in something I am not sure I'll enjoy is stupid. (I could borrow a friends mac but now I still have to purchase a mouse.) However if i was (assuming i didnt need to purchase a mouse) impressed with the mac hardware then $3.5k isn't that hard to justify. (ok it is a lot of money but ppl spend more then that on cars )
Basicaly my rant boils down to one question:
Are they forcing ppl to stay in MacOS or is it purely in the interest for the newbie (confusable) comsumer?
if it is NOT to confuse a consumer then I have a question: Are ppl that dumb? And how hard would it be to map both buttons to the same function by default?

granted there are occasions where compiling is the only solution however why rebuild the wheel if goodyear's wheels are perfectly fine?
this comment seems to come from a user that has far to much time on his hands.
