I say Microsoft suddenly lobbies for making both North AND South Korea classified as an axis of evil. That way, when the US contractors go through, M$ can make sure they use BillyBoyWare.
Or maybe M$ will start investing in North Korea so they will take over and implement Mickeysoft everywhere. Either way, it's fun to watch, ain't it?

I never thought this would be a way to undercut MickeySoft's OEM practices....
Now, instead of asking, "Why should I over-right Windows? I have an OS that comes with my Dell!" People will say, "Why should I pay an additional $200 for Windows? I have an OS that comes with my hard drive!"
Someone gets it. As an Electrical Engineer-in-training, I was always frustrated with people who got these big bad processors and wondered why their improvement was minimal.
They never quite grasped that the biggest bottleneck is between the processor and memory.
My EE instructor always said that they could improve performance by doing one simple thing: make the interconnects on the motherboard between the motherboard and RAM rounded instead of cornered. You could then increase bus speed as you wouldn't have magnetic loss at the corners like you do now.
You fix that, and you can see a SUBSTANTIAL improvement in performance. The only thing that can be done beyond that is to get a Platypus drive (Solid state "Hard Drive" made from Quikdata made from DDR RAM). Then you reduce your access time to your hard drive from milliseconds to nano/microseconds.
At work, they have duped over 5 of my collegues...even AFTER the email went out saying that it was going around. Well, Make an OS that any idiot can use, and only idiots will use it, I guess...
My problem with all these worms is that it doesn't do anything after it propogates, so no one will really care except bandwidth-concious IT people. It should send itself out, then erase all the FAT tables on a hard drive.
Or deltree the c:\winnt or c:\windows directory (or both).
That would REALLY piss people off, who would demand that they do something to make sure that not happen again...like...I dunno...Linux or OSX?
I wanna see major competition between Intel and AMD. That way I can get my 875P motherboard "tossed in free with the purchase of any Intel Pentium 4 Extreme(tm) Processor." It's about time I upgraded from a Celeron 433 anyway. Ghost Recon plays more like Ghost Recon: The Slideshow.
Suddenly I'm filled with all sorts of chocolately goodness...recording artists coming out and saying that maybe suing your customers might not be the best idea to get customer loyalty.
Just like Data processing was considered a passing fad in the 1970s. After all, things are going from a community-based system to people working ISOLATED BY THEMSELVES.
For instance, there is something new out there called the INTRA-web. Rather than connect to the OUTSIDE world in an attempt to get information, you simply search your own hard drive.
Analysts predict that someday in the future, people will have no further need to ever be connected again, and people will live in isolated padded cells, not talking or communicating to anything at all, simply staring at the ceiling./sarcasm
This is damn sexy technology. Almost makes up for the vaporware that was Keele Memory systems. And if I hear one more whiny person say, "no, quantum computers are coming in two years! Have patience!" I think I'll go destroy something expensive...
Does Palm show any interest in Linux hand-held interoperability? It seems to me it would be in their best interest...They are still manufacturing hardware after all...decent stuff at that.
Hard Drive-based technology is still rather klunky for the gym. Ultra-small Ram-based systems can provide enough music for one work-out.
I know, a geek that goes to they gym. Amazing, huh? No, I don't have a girlfriend. I still don't think that those mythical girl-creatures exist. I think it's just a dirty trick those jocks play on us.
I can't wait until the first time someone says, "Hey, you have a loose thread", yanks it, and gets a voltage shock.
:)
Hmm...come to think of it, that'd be a worthwhile application...I'd buy one.
They fess'd up to it...gotta admire a company that can take it on the chin. For that reason alone, I think I'm going to get a new Octane. (g)

This just being a "Coincidence" is about as likely as Arafat proclaiming, "Live, and Let Live".
And here I was, all set to buy SCO Openware. Now I'm all heartbroken...

ok, attacked, maybe.
However, how many of those windows servers took part in massive worms? Those aren't attacked, those are automated attacks, and not considered.
How many of those got partial entry (I.E. not superuser).
Remember kids, when you #4x0r Windows, you get root.
I'm reminded of a quote: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."
That was supposed to have Cartman quotes around it...

Sorry...but you didn't post your flame in the context of a whiny voice. Expensive things are safe.

To Clarify...
I have been looking for a strange case to stick my new PC in. I have found it! (Though I think I'm going to do something Navy.)
Thank you again slashdot.
...But what is the Sandman? I used to be into comics, and just as I got out, those came in ...what are they about?
Thanks...
The last one I read was Watchmen.
On another note, I'm looking forward to the Punisher movie next year, 'cause Frank Castle/Punisher KICKS *SS!

We, the illuminati, have been doing this for years...I mean...wait....damnit, I was supposed to log in as anonymous.
Hmm...$exyNerdie? What is this $ex you speak of?

Big deal. I'm wating for the DirectBrainX from Microsoft. Just plug directly into the base of your skull and watch your will to live drain away.
Blue screens now resulting in total loss of bowel functions!
*sniff* I'm getting misty just thinking about it.
