That is a good idea! An even better idea would be: Don't use XP or.NET! I know in this office, these 70 or so computers will never see an upgrade past Win2K Pro [or Linux:)]. Hell we wouldn't even be using Windows if the software we HAVE to use was Linux/*BSD friendly. Hint, hint AutoDesk, Bentley, Lode, MapInfo.....
At least I'm not the only one with an NEC, I got a Versa 2780MT from Affordable Portables for $599. They are kinda heavy aren't they? I love mine, it does everything I need it to do, and runs Linux & BeOS like it was designed to, of course the fact that it's something like 6-7 yrs old might have something to do with it...
...and if a bank or credit card company ever did this (willingly, lawsuits are another thing), I for one wouldn't be using their services anymore. And of course I would drag their name through the mud at the same time. It's not libel/slander if it is true....
How did I ignore the facts, you moron? My scenario: Old lady on the stand during a class action suit, explains to the judge that the original CD screwed up her sterio. She then proceeds to explain that all of the other CDs she's used on the Sterio, including the ones made by her son, worked fine. The lawyer didn't need the extra info, so he cut her off. I suggest you figure out why you are flaming someone before you start. Moron.
Actually you can put r5 PE in VMWare (no tools for it though). There is 2 ways to pull it off. They're both a pain in the ass, and involves installing another operating system first, but it can be done.
I've been using it since r5 PE came out and I love it. On my Athlon it boots into the GUI in about 15 seconds. It does multimedia very well (15 or so MP3s + 4 or 5 AVis/Mpegs playing, at the same time). It has very little security, but the way it was being developed, most important things first (A/V), security was probably pretty far down on the list of things to get done. I found quite a few games available for it, thanks to SDL & some really nice A/V editing pacakges. Hell, its even got a nethack port. I wonder if Neverwinter Nights will still be developed for BeOS if they are purchased by Sony or Palm?
Give up and start putting special items, such as posters and stickers, into the CD cases of your Albums to encourage people to buy them.....you can't burn a poster.
Well.....
apparently you've never used a high rez "D" size color scanner & a high quality color plotter. I've been making my own posters for about 2 years now. Working at a engineering firm has it's perks, sometimes.
This is great! I hope they sell millions of these tainted CDs all over the U.S. It will make one hell of a class action lawsuit. I can just see someone's grandmother getting up on the stand to testify during the trial.
Prosecutor: Now ma'am, when you bought this CD you had no idea that it would damage your sterio system when you played it?
Granny: No sir, I've never had any problems playing CDs on my sterio. Even the Elvis compilation my grandson made for....
Prosecutor: Er, thank you ma'am. That is all your honor...
And what are they going to do when the next generation of coders & geeks are all in jail? Who are they going to get to patch the IIS servers? Brings a new meaning to the word parole.
The book wasn't even remotley related to the movie. That's almost like saying the Lawnmower Man (book) was somewhat close to the movie. They had nothing in common....
I loved that game! But the thing is, IT's JUST A GAME. If they started doing this in real life it would be a Bad Thing (tm). It would be like a instant trip back to the dark ages (where executions were public events) except we'd have electricity.
Hey, that would work, wouldn't it....
And they couldn't use the freedom to innovate ploy to squirm their way out of it....
Good Idea(tm)

Heh, I imagine when you were my age you weren't paying anyone anything, and probably working at a gas station or movie theater or something....
Jaysyn
Hell, I'm still waiting for the class action suit against M$ for being the main reason/propagator of this Worm.
Jaysyn
I wish I mod points, I almost fell out of my chair...
Jaysyn
There is a computer game/mod there somewhere. JarCraft anyone?
Jaysyn
...right now I'm wishing my boss had went for the high end workstations. Waiting 2 minutes for a dwg to regen is a BAD thing.

Amen....
heh...I'll have to remember that one...

Ditto...but at least you know that WinAMP would be ported to it....

Not the sharpest tack in the small box in the drawer, just doesn't have the same ring...

It's not the cops...it's the Fedz.

No, they copied that from Packard Bell's Navigator front-end program. M$ != Original.
