No real anti-GNOME FUD rant would ever miss a chance to take a swipe at the FileManager, (which has been prettyfied by Ximian but still isnt too hot imho).
I've been using GNOME since Redhat 5.2 (iir) which is like 6 years or so, some of the changes I haven't liked e.g. Metacity with its total lack of 'Always on top' (which has been fixed apparently, havent tested), but look at all the gorgeous presents we've gotten, gdesklets, gstreamer, etc. Just because your favourite desktop moves some options about and takes some configuration away is no reason to whine and cry.
If you're so concerned, fork it and release a GNOMEL33T desktop for k-rad hax0rers that can compile their own kernels.

for one of the aggrieved parties, let me just say that BitTorrent is nothing short of the Denial of Service attack. I hope they are taken down. When is/. going to learn that you can't flood sites, steal music, or copy DVDs without repercussion?
BitTorrent is nothing like a Denial Of Service attack, infact, it's the exact opposite.
If 99% of the population wants to copy music, and we live in a free world where Democracy wins against tyranny, why is it that 99% of the population are being oppressed by draconian ideals that are out of date in the modern world we live in? Why are they wrong in this democracy? Society should serve the many, not the few, and certanly not the dollar.
Maybe if the aggrieved parties are so concerned about money, they should just get a different job? Like everyone else who doesn't have enough money? Just like coal miners and town cryers have been superseded, so now have shit artists!
I've been trying to get mine to work for ages. The version of XFree86 that comes with unstable is 4.2.1, the 'ati' drivers that come with XFree don't seem to work, and unstable comes with glibc2.3, and the binary ATI drivers are compiled against 2.2 only, so they don't work either.
Also they only supply the drivers in rpm form, not even a.tgz
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get my 9800pro working in Debian unstable please? Changing distro is not an option! Ever!!:)
A small group of English soldiers find themselves in a labyrinth of abandoned German trenches in Deathwatch, a reworking of the classic British supernatural horror tale as a redemptive allegory amid the wider horror of the Great War. The very earth has had its fill of blood and this lost company may already be in hell: imagine the BBC TV film All the Kings Men (1999) crossed with Cube (1997), as realised by a young Ridley Scott. Only Charlie Shakespeare, an impressive Jamie Bell, is sufficiently innocent to realise the evil of the trenches is turning comrade against comrade, resulting in the gradually escalating carnage.
Ok, not entirely related to the main topic, but it's a good film and it's not often the UK actually put out a good film in a year, let alone 2 great films!
Your opinion is worth conciderably less then than the amount you 'paid' to watch 28 Days Later.

On a slightly more serious note, wasnt one of the Endians patented, which resulted in the creation of the other Endian (or so said my lecturer) and if so, does this affect things now? Or did the patent expire ages ago anyway?
+1 True / -1 False for a long time, as none of the other moderations really fit, when someone is doing their best to be insightful or informative but is just getting it all wrong. As if you have already modded the thread, you cant reply to point out their inaccuracies:/
Hmm, I just splashed out on the Asus KT400 A7V8X motherboard and a Hercules Radeon 9800 Pro.. as I thought that ATI were doing something with the Weather Channel to provide high quality open source drivers for their Radeon series? I'm sure there was a Slashdot article on it a while back?
Am I mistaken, or was that just lies? Or will I beable to play Quake3 and Neverwinter Nights in Linux?
What choices would you be losing if that happened? They same software would still be available, and you would still beable to do the same thing with it, e.g. install it from packages, install from source packages, roll your own from a tar ball.
The only thing that I can see that you'd lose is the multitude of different ways things can be configured. e.g. is the httpd.conf in/etc/apache/etc/httpd/var/www/conf or somewhere else? etc etc
Where is the choice between GNOME and KDE when you have to have both installed anyway to beable to use all the decent apps avilable to Linux?
than I did all last year! 'Why?' I hear you ask.. well I'll tell you!
HMV seem to have pretty much doubled in size their metal collection, now featuring bands such as Nightwish, Dark Tranquility and At The Gates, i.e. they are selling the music I like (at reasonable prices), so I'm buying it.
How did I hear these bands to begin with? I downloaded their MP3s from Audiogalaxy AGES ago which I found using the music categories AG used to have. (I admit I haven't been back since they started charging.)
I'll willingly pay for music by bands that I like, if it is sold. Most of the few CDs I did buy last year were bought at gigs anyway as the stores didn't stock them.
You missed my point. I don't drink coffee, and I only drink caffeine free coke, and I doubt you ever used to think like me! I was parodying people like you!
I goto Uni in the morning, all the lecturers are fapping over their morning 3 cups of coffee, the one when they wake up, the one in the car (with their nice shiny coffee travel mug. Shit, Thinkgeek even has a fucking section totally devoted to caffeine.) and then the one in the lecture, not to mention however many other cups they have through the day.
It was a case of 'rinse and repeat' whenever I went to work too.. "caffeine, caffeine.. I can't possibly work a second later without my liquid gold" or whatever other 'witty' name the waste of skin had come up with!
It's like a lifestyle choice for the terminally crap!
BTW. you are an oversensitive drug addict. If you can't go cold turkey, cut down by one cup a day for a week, then drop another cup the next week etc, or use less coffee! Shit 10 cups of coffee a day has got to be bad for you!
LOL IM A PROGRAMMER LOL I DRINK COFFEE LOL CAFFEINE LOL DONT COME TO CLOSE LOL I HAVE THE SHAKES AND MIGHT SNAP ROFL I HAVENT HAD MY MORNING CUP OF COFFEE LOL
Unfortunatly, I've met more imaginative heroin addicts.
I fucking hate this caffeine gimmick, it's not that hard to stay up late when coding, or make it to work in the morning without bending over for caffeine.
As it means I won't have to return to the store that I rented them from and give them back, they can just be binned instead (Although what impact this will have on the environment must be concidered of course).
As long as they are the same (or lower) price, I don't see a problem.
And I have not once ever got any spam that offers any product or service to the English. It's either in some non-English language (Korean?) so I havent a clue what it means, or its offereing some service for Americans.
So Redhat 5.2 was 4 years ago and not 6 boohoo i made a mistake.
Heh im being trolled by an anonymous fucking coward. What a joke!

Whilst we are plugging a UK film I'd also like to advertie Deathwatch.

USB was agreed to as a standard by Microsoft, Compaq and the usual suspects back in the 90s and a standard was issued in 1998.
MS are a member of the standards body.
