Though a better name is needed - sub is short for submersible, which sounds to be tied to dirigibles. And they both look the same and work primarily by the same methods. Creating a space that can contains a volume with a lower press enough so that if floats to up. Then adding or removing a medium in that space to change the overall density to cause the over thing to go "up" or "down".

Here is a cool logic question...

Why does 10 department need 10 fax points?
What business use over email keeps that in place?

    A VP -- see above.

With a company of 500 or 200 or even 20 - they is some who meets the doors... they also anser the phones.

The sales guys at our office does not want caller id. Gives away who they are. Some reason when our phones got installed, only the extention is sent out. So it looks like an internal call to most other companies.

So back to basic question -- Why does a company need 200 numbers?

An internal extention with a simple question "please enter the extention number" wait 10 second and flip to operator, will give the same service.

In the US, there is still one town in Mass, that still runs with direct government, akin to the older town meetings of Swissland. Again is great because the community functions for the whole.

Both my wife and are first generation Swiss-Americans (I hate writing that but it is the lecicon that makes sence to most people).

My father is from Glarus and I was a few years ago when one of the local elections was handled in the town way.

My wife's mother is from Ticino.

The organization of the Swiss goverment alone with the knowledge of knowing your nieghbors made meeting relatives very nice, since both of our parents do not remember much the their home country. We were able to meet my wife's mother's father's sister's daughter and then her daughter and her daughter's daughter... all from the records in the local "court house".

Yes direct dail is cute, but unnessary. Most places only list the master number any way. Even on caller id, so if I place a redail I get the master number, so why have direct lines? Even for those few that a direct number can help... why give it to all?

This is same agruement with public and private IPs. Why does company that bought a T1 get a class C, too?

Finally - I have lived now in both 10 and 11 digit dail areas. (Orlando, FL and Northwestern IL) - and to say one thing -- it sucks. The big problem is that you are unable to tell when you make a long distance call until the bill comes at the end of month. The papers in this area report that 11 diigit will be fore every one. Becuasr they want to assign you a number life - that follws you around.
