    Most newbies we get at LinuxJunior use Redhat or Mandrake., although Suse, Debian and smaller distros are also there.

    None of it matters though - as everyone needs help at somethings, and dont give me HOWTO's, It was over year before I understood most of them.

    Any distro is an upgrade rfom windows, but you'll need help - and sites like LinuxJunior amd linuxnewbie.org are where to go.

    I might be interested in the real shuttle for half amil, but not this - unless I was a dot-com billionaire or lottery winner or something. Even then, its a pile of 16 foot long junk!

    However, http://www.darksky.org/ida/graphics/europe_lights_ high.gif (big file) does appear to have lights in the right location. Sealand is so nearthe coast thoug, it may be somethig on te mainland.

    OSX air: you settle into your nice seat, having payed over the odds to get there. You then realise that BSDAir has been giving away seats next to you for free!

    I went sailing round Britain a couple of years ago, even a few miles off shore (about 10), was just amazing.

    Here in the UK there is almost nowhere devoid of light (desert light), as you are never really more then 20 miles from a town. Most of the land (especially here in the north west) is disgustingly light, you're lucky to see venus and mars, let alone anthing bigger. I go to Exeter Uni and I was amazed the first night i was there walking back from the pub - even a mile out of town, on a large campus, you could see so much more then near Manchester.

    But nothing will beat the boat.

    Regarding the map - what is the lights in the North Sea? Oil Rigs?

    I bought AC at linux expo London, Wasnt too impressed with the lack of nice box && manual though. It is better then nothing, but no where near as good as the SidCiv, or even CTP1 (out of print for lnux now as far as I can tell)

    The 2 civ games were the best in he world. I ave a laptop here devoted to them, quite literally (I dont have dos/windows on my desktop or main laptop).

    I dont care if the souce is open, unless Sid himself works on the games they still lack the magic of the originals. I fear civ 3 will (well, I wont know as it wont work on my debian box :growel:)

    Cabl modems in the UK are new (been out for justover month in my town). I think I'm pretty much the only one (well, therse about 50, giving a random pinging - broadast doesnt work) on my subnet, which is probably a town of 150-200,000.

    I've only got 2 attemps in 2 weeks from my subnet.

    Our university's student union servers were gettin the same number of hits as me up to a cuple of days ago.

    Just out of interest, how much is a shuttle launch? It'll take over $10 million minimum to launch it in 5 years time.

    On tenews th otherday I spotted a normal rocket taking off (titan? arianne? - The sound wasoff). Why cant his be launched on one of these?

    Actually .jsp is a java page, tomcat plugin availabl for apache and a dedicated java servlet servlet server is availabl for linux (and I guess windows)

    now, .asp is active server page, what you are thinking of.

    I'm sure you do - its there. Date's a bit old, which makes me think its not a real worm, but someone playing arround - after more investigation (reading the log, not just grepping for default.ida), it looks like someone was playing arround.

    having said this, konq just crashed thanks to the hidden javascript popup things that pop up at (100000,100000) and I dont know how to close in enlightenment. bloody things mean I have to now take the default javascript off for every ite and enable it for the sites I regularly visit.

    Has anyone got a "clean" site list I can pumpp into konq? Howabout a "dirty" site list I can DROP at iptables?

    I'm glad I got out of windows when I did, I went to look at a printer problem on my mums computer, it had popups everywhere, it has a 17GB HDD - I'm not sure what is installed on it, ICQ has a ton of adverts, same as real player. It wasnt like that the last version of icq (99) and rp I used.

    I'm still worried because:

    1) People may mistake their "content" for my content, and email me enquiring, complaining, flameing or suing me for it.
    2) Whenever I use someone elses computer, I'm innudated by these adverts.

    And as for my south park eps - realplayer unix doesnt have adverts that I've encountered.
