Ahh. I would have to agree with you. While I really liked BG, I -loved- Dr. Who. Especially when his newest sidekick wore very little leather clothing the entire time:)
Some of the stuff was pretty odd. I remember some metal robot guys that shot flames or something out of their foreheads? Weird. The Daleks were cool. The weird mummy guys that had one large breast that squished people between two of them - odd. I don't think I'll ever forget the noise of the tardis, or the intro/outro music.
Argh. I was wondering why all the OpenNap servers were down. Guess I'll have to find another network. When I update the list there are like 40 of the freakin things. Where did all these lame networks come from?
While I hated Aduva, I like this a lot. It still doesn't update my kernal correctly, but I've mostly stopped trying to update kernal rpm's through package management - it just doesn't work.
The main thing that's interesting to me is how they have stated that they will use it to integrate with HPUX and Solaris 8. If I could have one package manager GUI (and I am assuming there is a CLI in there somewhere) to handle all my Linux servers, HPUX machines and Solaris machines... well that would just simply rule. Package managemnt on HPUX and Solaris is a real bitch.
The tech is great. Cheap solid inventory tracking isn't going to hurt anyone. The problem is going to be idiots who walk around a store with a bulk eraser destroying all the tags because they do not understand the technology.
I'd love to dig into the whitepaper to see how the tag stores the data, and if it can be changed easily.
I think it's a good system. I don't particularly want to be mugged by cyber-salvation army workers when they pass on my 'tipping preferences', but I think I'd tip some websites I like. The banner adds sure don't make me want to open my wallet...
Yea! The current patching system is neat-o. I can download a script from HP to get my swlist, then upload the generated file to their/incoming, then login to the webpage, and wait 30 minutes until my custome patch list is generated, then download my huge recommended patch bundle and run the swinstall.
A text mode version of Red Carpet for HPUX and Solaris would be MOST excellent.
Have a Passport.
Try to get the company to sponsor you. There are differing levels of corporate sponsorship. If you don't get sponsorship there are usually 'working visas' you can work under for 3 to 4 years (depending on the country).
Use lonelyplanet.com to check out the climate. Get a medical checkup and current shots. Do the math to make sure you can have fun living with what they are paying you in their own currency. Be familliar with the way their taxes, vehicles, and medical insurance works.
Get the company to spring for a one month 'test', to see if you will fit in.
Tried to publish, tried their insane proxy, everything. It's was complete junk.
I will however try it again, seeing a Nov 14 date for the new version. Hopefully it's a little more useful.
Dang, now I'm going to have that theme running through my head all day.
Yes, but it was a highly relevant empty link.

Real easy to say when it's not your servers on the line.

They changed it just the other day. You can now download it completely for $0.00 USD

That's restricted geek information.
