Well I'll agree with the marketing end of this statement. After all, Jobs was a marketing genius. No one can deny that.
He started off by giving thousands of machines to schools. What happened? Students first look at a machine was apple. They get out of school and have no clue how to use a PC so they're buying macs.
Enter Adobe. When they bought photoshop (Yes, bought it, they didn't produce it) it was pretty much the state of the art program but it was mac based. So, you did graphics, you bought apple. When Adobe finally ported it over to the PC they never noticed that the PC blew the mac format away. (Yes, I've used both. No comparison)
But with the investment in the mac software as well as hardware, graphic designers were kind of stuck with the mac. Not to mention the learning curve from mac to PC. (Time is money!)
So new designers go with mac. Because it's better? Nope. Because everyone else who designs uses them.
On the other hand, could be radio is prehistoric technology to them. I've been having a lot of problems locating intelligent life on this planet lately.
On the other hand, they're probably not dumb enuff to be registered with 54,827.34 social sites, so don't need all those passwords that everyone forgets.
How in the hell did they actually get something like this thru the patent office? If we just look around and come up with some every day thing everyone does and patent it... we can retire.
That's why they went to flat screen. Now everyone is running around to see if they can apply a patent they already hold that would apply to flats so they can sue the rest of the world... before they get sued themselves.
I agree with you on all but the price drop. This likely won't be become common until they (sadly) can figure out a way to brainwash us into believing it costs more to produce it. Remember, the idea behind nuclear was that besides being cleaner and greener, etc, etc, etc, it would cost us less for electricity. Once they opened up that local plant... ended up costing us more.
"In what appears to be an effort to capitalize on Nielsen's Law, the Internet's version of Moore's Law"
Of course if you're a customer you chalk it up to Murphy's law.
But you could be in Canada where for a measly $70 a month (plus taxes) you can get a massive dl speed of 6mbs (Well advertised at that anyway. ) and a cap of 100G. Wheee!
Well you can buy an engine. You can't buy software. At least you haven't been able to for maybe a dozen years or so. Today you license it, you never own it so you can't sell it or even give it away. This is one of the problems with all the screaming about software patents and it's even getting to the point where ebooks are the same. Gone are the days when you can own anything software related. All the big companies essentially lease it. OS's, games, programs, ebooks... one owner, one machine. And as far as they're concerned... end of discussion. We're no longer considered customers, we're licensees.
It would seem that at least microbes or maybe plant life would be inevitable. As far as intelligent life... well, we haven't located any on Earth yet so I have my doubts.
What am I missing? I thot the commercial companies were all building a "kind of" plane or space ship since they'd be re-useable. Why/when did they fall back to rockets?
The screaming about socialism is to cover up the fascism in hopes no one will notice. You need some socialism. Get rid of social security, medicare, VA hospitals and a long list of "socialistic" services and what do you get? A disaster.
Just about anything electronic can be tracked. Phone, laptop, GPS... Not really rocket science for the manufacturer in this day and age. But why would the manufacturer want to track it? If they find it they can't sell you another one.
"there are meteorites on Earth which we know came from Mars"
This always annoyed me. While we can assume they did... why do we assume this? We were never there. Just because some tests show it's features are the same doesn't mean it "absolutely, positively" came from there. Claiming we "know" they came from Mars is a pretty big stretch IMHO.
Cool. Another domain to add to my "do not even open it just auto delete it" spam box.
Interesting. Company beginning to fall apart, offer IPO, take money, screw with customers to speed up it's demise, run.
What a train wreck.
Out of the states for a while but from what I see the average starting rate/speed is around $30 a month for 12mb.
Now in Canada, the start is around 6mb and $80 a month. + taxes.

That's kind of the point.

Unless of course you consider the crap you find on line today. On the other hand, that isn't free either. You have to pay for an internet connection.
On the other hand, we really don't have enough corruption in government today.

Heh, yeah. Just crack open a window for a few seconds. Better than a Dyson and never worry about bags or filters.

If it wasn't for lobbyists, the 99% would be about the 80%.
Interesting. I always thot the difference is soaps was that they were taped rather than filmed. I guess you learn something every day. :)
Not if the closest place is New York. Then you pay NY (8%) tax even tho you don't live there.

Well, used to rock. Let's hope he has a chance to relive his daze of glory! :)

The fascist part of it is what is really scary.
