    I choose whether or not I give Google certain information. Google may be able to deduce personal details about my life. But my ISP should not be able to. I should be able to safely hide behind a screen name without my ISP guessing things about my life.

    I definitely do not like programmers with small pricks.

    They usually do not know what they are talking about. They don't understand the business, the customer, the product, or the technologies in use. But they have a stack of certifications.

    This is not a lie, but a true statement: ALL developers have a testing environment that they can deploy to. Some developers also have a production system that is separate from the testing environment.

    Another lie programmers tell themselves: "This doesn't need to be configurable. The state legislature would never change this particular value from 3% to 2%. It's 3% and that's the state law! End of story."

    I read it online, so it MUST be true!

    Do what management says because they know best.

    They couldn't possibly hire anyone that can replace me.

    This change is so small and inconsequential that it doesn't need to go through the formality of testing and staging.

    If one of the power supplies in a server is on fire, best practice is to notify all of the stakeholders to schedule a meeting to resolve the issue and put out the fire.

    Trump will direct NASA to redesign SLS to use coal. Effective April 1, 2017.

    They identify with how thin skinned their dear leader is. The thing I am frequently amused by is that the Trump side largely sticks to personal attacks and insults in response to questions or thoughts about actual policy ideas.

    When I said "it's not just one party doing it", I was replying to the Democrats taking away all our rights. The Republicans also obviously have a big part in taking away our rights.

    Think of it as an auction. The ISPs would be willing to accept a higher amount of money to keep certain people's private details private.

    But now anyone can buy the personal details about the rest of us. Things we might rather keep private.

    We had a Republican president when the Patriot act was passed to take away all our rights. But to be fair, the Democrats certainly deserve a fair share of the blame. It's not just one party doing it.

    The links provided by the pirate sites should not be illegal. After all, I want to avoid pirated content. A link is like you telling me where the local crack house is, so that I can avoid going near it. By getting thousands and thousands of links from pirate sites, I can avoid piracy on a big scale. Especially if it is searchable. What movie do I want to avoid pirating today? Um, oh, that one! Search for link, clickety clickety click. Ah, here are five links to that movie so that I can, um, avoid them today.

  22. True story: I already have a feature to indicate that a call was a Robo Call. When this new feature was introduced on Android, I began using it. Each time I flagged a call as a Robo Call, I had a sense of satisfaction. Before long, Robo Calls would show up on a red screen, so I could choose not to answer. Then they stopped completely.     The RoboCall industry needs to refocus its efforts. The Trump administration has expressed that one of its policy goals is to put coal miners back to work.     I can't tell you anything about beer. But I am an expert on wine.

    A good whine will be loud enough to get attention, but not too loud. The finer whines will elicit just the right reaction of sympathy that is the mark of a great whine. The best whines will not only get what you are whining for, but won't leave any after taste of annoyance. Ideally the person being manipulated will believe it was their own idea with no sense of manipulation.
