The official android market is dependent on a sim card. Even a phone wont work unless it has a sim card in it. The trick that Archos did with their tablets is they have their own market for apps that work with tablets. Android market could detect apps that assume its a phone (in fact it does now, see the permissions system) and just not display those apps for tablets. The problem has more to do with the Android team is not confident because they have not set up the CTS stuff for tablets. That's ChromeOS's realm. The CTS stuff however is set up for Google TV already. It probably would not be too much work for them to be confident in Android's ability on tablets, they just haven't invested the time/money in it.

And once you get beyond college level (which means - once you start to have to read the literature for yourself instead of relying on someone else to do the hard work for you), you'll find that there is still no consensus about a working definition for "life". The last time I tried to come up with one that I was happy with it took me several hours, and I knew that there were aspects of it that I wasn't terribly confident of.

Yes I'm sure if I was making up definitions I could come up with one I was happy with and included the floor tiles of my bathroom. Unfortunately, definition is defined as "the formal statement of the meaning or significance of a word, phrase, etc. " It is a formal statement. Definition does not mean to come up with something on our own. I have never heard a biologist include prions in the definition of life. I have however heard them give a long list of reasons they are NOT life. Viruses are a little bit more complicated but the general consensus is despite having RNA (the equivalent to DNA in fact iirc it was the pre cursor to DNA) they are not alive.

Funny when I want to traffic school for my job last year, we specifically were urged NOT to keep up with the traffic flow if it is somewhat over the speed limit. By the way, this was the same traffic class they give the police in this state. The problem is we have a lot of misinformed drivers who really need to go to traffic school, perhaps it should be mandatory every 5 years for license renewal. Maybe then we could safely increase the speed limit and have an increase in the number of cautious and attentive drivers on the road.

A major point of legally carrying a gun around in public is so that it can be seen and doesn't have to be used. What good is concealed carry to anybody apart from undercover police (who have other permits to cover it anyway) and organised crime? The general public carrying a hidden gun may get some sort of James Bond vibe but they really have no functional reason to hide their weapon.

Many people feel threatened if they see a gun. I live in a open carry legal state but you need a permit for concealed carry. Whenever someone goes out with a gun on their hip in accordance with state law, inevitably the police get called because someone felt threatened. Concealed carry avoids that, it also means criminals have to think twice, they never know who is carrying a gun. If everyone had to open carry they would always know who is carrying a gun and know to either not take action then or to take out the man with the gun first. Further organized crime types typically already have a criminal record. This is the purpose of the background check for concealed carry. Many states you don't even need a criminal record to be denied a permit. If they go into your background and suspect you are up to no good, no permit for you.

I've had professors tell me citing Wikipedia is fine as long as it's done properly. There's a specific way to site an article which gives you a link that goes to a specific revision. Then you can vet the article and make sure the references Wikipedia uses are good. It's really only helpful if you're going to site one article several times and each place in the article you're citing would actually be a separate source. Otherwise you're better off citing the original source.
