When I first purchased a domain back in 1997 (for $75/yr) I was under the age of 18. I used bogus information because I did not want people to be able to retrieve my personal information. Since then, I have continued to use bogus contact into on almost every registrar.. Well, not too long ago I started getting contacted by various OpenSRS registrars saying my information was incorrect and that I needed to update it. I replied saying that if they supply a service that hides my information from public WHOIS servers I will happily give them my info, most of them did no offer this.
I have to agree that the WHOIS system is a nightmare. More registrars need to support cloaking of email and contact info. I AM NOT A BUSINESS. I do not want my information being public..
And actually, the same thing goes for HAM handles.. I hate the fact that you can lookup the home address of anyone who talk to on the radio.. That also needs some kind of "opt-out" option for those who don't want their info public.
The Department of Toxic Substance Control of the California Environmental Protection Agency has issued the ACCRC a violation that could make it very hard for the group to stay in business. And, quite frankly, that's a damned shame.
I have to highly disagree. I played TF back on QuakeWorld and I have been dying for TF2. Despite major changes I thought I couldn't get over (no more grenades, no more evil medics) I absolutely love the game. Instead of worrying about uber great graphics, they went for super fun game play. I've been having a blast with this update version of a classic.
On the other hand, I have played QuakeWars and it felt like Battlefield 2, meets Doom 3 graphics, combined with Quake3 DM. The sound effects are almost all from Q3.. The Icons look just like Quake3, and the game play is what we've seen for years now.
Never looked at the Sansa's huh? $50-$100 cheaper, they have a voice recorder, SD expansion (extra 2gb of space!), great accessory choices and a great product. The thing I like most is that there's no "disconnecting" with the Sansa. Just unplug it and go.
When my iPod died I got a Sansa and I love it. My 10gb Sansa (8gb + 2gb SD) cost $100 cheaper than a 4GB Nano.
Sorry, not ALL, as in all possible characters. I meant alpha, numeric, and special. If you read the article it shows the character set of "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ0123456789!@#$%^&*()-_+=~`[]{}|\:;"',.?/" is 64GB in size.
The title is a bit of a stretch. Some simple techniques can help protect your self from these attacks. Using special characters will greatly increase the strength of your password, since the rainbow set for ALL characters is 64GB in size. Also, a LONG password, even of simple word can increase the complexity due to its length. Something as simple as my!dear!aunt!sally would be far stronger than 1pass!
If UNIX/Linux became the desktop standard and had 80% of the market it would be fully assaulted by exploiters and script kiddies. We are not immune, we are simply not as big of a target because of Windows market share. I don't think the magnitude of the problems would be the same, but to say it will (or could) never happen to *nix or OS X is naive.
Sadly, yes. Most companies ALLOW text messages on their phone even if you don't have it in your plan. If other people send you messages you will be billed their fixed rate per message (incoming), even if you don't reply. If someone else has unlimited text messaging they could effectively start spamming people (everyone remember the old pager bombs?) with the consequence of massive phone bills.
What he is complaining about sounds more like an MMO then an RPG. I don't recall being given quests to kill 500 wolves in an RPG. In a lot of RPGs you just level with out noticing. It's not something you have to go and "do".
Also, this guy apparently established his own Game Design company making... RPGs! So why doesn't he just shut up and go make one the way he wants? He says he wants an RPG that can be finished in 10-12 hours instead of the 40+ most of them are.. Dude, that's what makes an RPG an RPG. It's long very detailed story!
For a guy who designs RPGs he seems like he doesn't understand what makes them great. If I'm not mistaken, he could just go play some of the new FPS's which have detailed story lines that only take about 10 hours to beat. They don't involve leveling and don't require you to quest..
Our department here has looked into moving to dumb terminals to replace our current Linux desktops. Having a single server with 200 some dumb terminals would make updates and auto mated tasks a lot easier. The main reason we haven't switched is because we are a math computation/research department and a lot of our users make use of the core 2 duo's provided to them in their desktop machines. But for staff, we are certainly looking to move.
This is not a lie, the submitter labeled it wrong. As the article says, "This technology, however, is expected to peak out at about 1 terabit per square inch." As you can plainly see, they said BIT. Only the submitter has it wrong.
At 17 I received a job as a UNIX Systems Admin for a local ISP. I went in one day and asked cold if they were hiring at all. I had a resume with no actual work experience in computers, but it had all the various things I had been working with at home for the last 6 years. You can get a job, just be professional and confident.
Some what. We use APT here in our department. One of the big changes from SLACK is that it doesn't require you to compile packages like RPMs or DEBs. We have a couple of very large applications that take up 1-3GB and it takes a very long time to rebuild the packages. Slack negates such a need.
Seriously man, calling me out on technicalities? Have you nothing better to do with your time?

Eve is great for free expansions, so long as you can wait for them to be out " Soon(TM) "
and you don't work in the advertising department, right?
I can hear it now, the sound of a million emos all finally committing suicide.
"Windows has a reputation for being easily exploited by rootkits, but just because you're using Linux or BSD doesn't mean you're safe from infection."
I dunno, ya think that's why they're called ROOTkits?

So 30,000 SS#'s were exposed, and 150k people might be in trouble? So.. does that mean for every SS# 5 people share it?
never mind, apparently it has been fixed.

They may have an even harder time with Cisco owning the iPhone trademark:

FYI, the article discusses teraBITs, not BYTES. So don't get your hopes up that we'll be seeing 37.5 terabyte hard drives any time soon.
