In the last two months, I recall seeing numerous patches from my Auto Updater telling me they need to patch for "a remote attack which grants full control of your system". I should start making a log of them all. I know within the last month I've seen 2 alone. Sometimes I have to patch for 3 at a time. They require little more then me visiting a website or opening my email with a Microsoft product.
Yet how much extra does this particular OS X vauln require? A whole lot more then a push of a button.
I think the common missuse of the word "sale" is causing a problem. Sale, does not always mean "discounted from original price." Think of Sale, as "to sell".
Dictionary.com:
1) The exchange of goods or services for an amount of money or its equivalent; the act of selling. 2) An instance of selling. . . 6) A special disposal of goods at lowered prices: coats on sale this week.
To say it is not morally right to say "sale" is a poor statement. Sale does not always suggest discounted. I agree this is a huge annoyance when stores say "This item is on sale", when really they are only saying, "We sell this item", not "This item is cheaper then usual".
I live in Minnesota, and we are a very Motorcycle friendly state. I ride a bike my self, and know your pain. Here, we have a law that says, a motorcyclist may run a red light, after a period of time that s/he feels would allow the sensors to pick up their motorcycle.
Here's the catches. 1) It's motorcycle ONLY 2) A cop can still give you a ticket, but you can use this law in court.
But he's still pretty close on price. The $495 system is a MBox, which is... um.. nice. I guess. For $800 you can get a Digi 001, for $2,000 you can get a Digi 002, and from there the price goes up based on what pieces you buy. TDM HD system is based on how many DSP cards you get, or I/Os, etc. Then if you want a Control 24 or Pro Control, you pay either $6,000 or $11,000.
Hell, a decked out ProTools studio could cost $30,000. But I'd say $15,000 would be about average for a Base system + goodies.

There is a GEM on network screen of D2. No one has any clue (does any one?) as to WTF it does. You press it, it says activated (or something. been a while since I played). You can turn it on or off. The joke is funny because we wonder what BNETD assigned it to do since no one really knows.
Affinity, meet SCO. SCO, meet Affinity. You have lots in common, you'll get along nicely.
I bet the guy driving the truck up and down every street in the city spent a lot of time in college.
Not really.. I can't access their servers now. All will tremble before the might of slashdotting!
Too bad the same can't be said for the Real Alternative website..
