I don't know who was the moron who modded this as flamebait.
Anyway, good question. I think what he was referring to here is the habit of C++ to copy objects by copying the address of the variables. This is silly because if you are making a copy of something, you usually want to duplicate it, not just have pointers going back to the original object. I guess what C# does when it is copying is it always does a copy by value, making it easier on the programmer.
I'm not sure how much programming experience you have, so this might be way over your head. When I was twelve I was programming in BASIC, but kids these days are getting smarter.
PS. If you don't know C or C++ yet, learn them! I wish I had learned them when I was young. Instead I wasted my time with BASIC.
I totally agree. Your kids will learn about networking, administration, security, etc.
Check out www.beowulf.org and ltsp.org for more info. This is something that they can easily do in a semester (4 months?) and they can get started on parallel programming in C or Fortran. There are a lot of resources available and I'm sure they will have fun.
A suggestion for the program to write would be something that takes the student's class choices and fits them all into a nice schedule.
A great deal of programs have been announced for RedHat Linux, and I think it's great that this company is not saying that you have to run it on a specific distribution.
Ok np. So many trolls around it's hard to be sure.
What kind of car do you have? To get the error for my Firebird I just short two pins together from a plug below the steering wheel. Then the Check Engine light flashes in a certain pattern, and off I go to fix the problem... which occurs all too often:)
I haven't. Maybe the posters should play it before they go off talking about how censorship is wrong, blah, blah blah.
I live in Vancouver, and I disagree with the mentality that some people have towards video game violence.
But from the descriptions of the game, it sounds like it is extremely violent to the point of being too realistic. Quake III isn't realistic, it's cartoony.
What I do like in BC is the fact that everyone is allowed to go topless at beaches and other public places if they want (women included). Wreck Beach is the local nude beach near the University of British Columbia, and everyone accepts that.
The attitude toward hemp is also much more relaxed here. While the police bust the larger grow ops, they're not going to arrest you for possessing marijuana.
I agree with you about Amsterdamn... lots of sex, no violence.:)
Those laws about arcades are basically trying to keep drug dealers from pushing to young kids, and only applies to Downtown Vancouver. You can go to Chuck E. Cheese and play video games like Street Fighter etc, however old you are... but they look at you funny when you're 20 and asking for more tokens.
The subject says it all. They can learn to program while building their own robots. Very cool.
BTW, kids are smarter than you think:) I taught myself BASIC on our TI/99 when I was about their age, maybe ever a bit younger. Get them programming or building their own computers at an early age.
I know how you feel. I've had my saving stuck in 4% bonds for the past few years. Now that I've turned 19, I got a self directed RRSP (Canadian term) trading account at www.tdwaterhouse.ca (.com for those in the States). I've made about 40% on my money since then. We've got our lifetimes ahead of us, and I'm sure there will be more hot Linux IPO's. Chances are you'll get stock options in your own company, so have fun.
BTW, if you are interested in learning how to invest, check out http://www.fool.com, as they are an excellent site for the newcomer. Watch for me on the M$FT board fighting FUD.
I think their opinion of Corel Linux is correct. It is very easy to install, and everything is set up for you...
for power users like the people on Slashdot, you will find yourself limited by it. It didn't even come with a config file for exim, which is ok if you are using Communicator for your mail, but fetchmail + procmail barfed on me.

I think there should be system user hate day
That only happens on days that end in 'y'

This is the 'Wrong spelling, moron!' one...

Anyone know what FSB they are running at? WHat kind of overclocking potential?
Sweet! Thanks.
Hey, got a link to those tweets you're talking about... couldn't find anything on Motorola's site...
Oh, no doubt... is it all original engine/tranny? I thought that automatics had the 350 engine, and standards had the 305.
Exactly! It's funny to hear these people talking about their VW's when we all know that F-bodies are the best cars out there...
;)
What year/engine do you have? I've got an 87 Firebird - with the crappy V6, which will become a 350 as soon as I pay off my student loans.
Why do you have a Pathfinder then?
I don't understand your logic. What is the point of 4wd when you don't ever use it?
and I'm not joking... the person who invented the diesel engine originally planned for it to run on Hemp oil and other vegetable based oils.
Plus it cleans the environment as the plants are growing. I can't see any drawbacks.

Plus the drinking age is 19

Huh? Just go to your local library and pick up a Haynes auto manual and it will tell you how to do it.
Anyway, thanks for trolling.
Hetfield hurt his back when he was Jet-skiing, so the next 3 shows are cancelled!
Gimp. That's all you need. Just don't compile in any unnecessary stuff. Of course, I'm a bit biased :)

The Sierra Wireless Aircard is a good card for laptops running Linux, they've even got a link on how to get it running under Linux on their web page.
Not likely, unless you've made some open source programs, or have a *damn* good broker. And I don't mean E Trade!
You will have chances to buy after it IPO's, I'm sure they'll do well anyway.

No problem. You will have to buy the suite for 79.99 I think. Check out linux.corel.com for more info.
Just thought I'd ask... I applied 2 days ago, and haven't heard from them yet.
It would have been nice to get an automatic notice saying that it is being processed.
