I think the insane difficulty is part of Ninja Gaidens charm. Its the one game I still have in my PS3 collection, that hasnt been traded or sold, and I am determined to beat it. I used to own it on the Xbox, but never finished it, so bought it on PS3 when "Sigma" was released.. It may be brutally unforgiving, and is one of the last examples of "Learn by Death", but its so well balanced that even when the game has handed your ass to you for the hundredth time, you still feel compelled to give it one more go, and every time you die, you always blame yourself for not being fast or accurate enough, never the game. Thats a very rare quality these days.
We've all played GTA. What, if anything, in the entire series compares with the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan?
Interestingly, Medal Of Honour: Allied Assault actually recreates the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan (along with some other scenes from the film), yet was rated "Teen" by the ESRB..
The inconsistency of censorship is one of my biggest concerns with it..
Another legitimate use I noticed yesterday was when updating the Metal Gear Online beta for the PS3, it uses Bittorrent to distribute updates.. A great idea considering how popular the series is, but nothing to do with piracy. The music/movie industry seems to be doing a very good job of promoting the idea that BT == Piracy..
That depends on the ISP. The one I used to work for kept log information for exactly 4 hours. Privacy issues aside, why waste hard disk space on logs that have no benefit to them (apart from fault diagnosis, for which they have the previous four hours) when it could be put to better use?
Im wondering is c still a constant over such a large distance? I mean, for one, the light is bent around a galaxy cluster, that will change the distance its travelled. Also, its been shown in the lab that light can be slowed down, could this also have happened. I know the spped of light in a vacuum is a constant, but space isnt really a vacuum, is it? It may be mostly empty, but even a very slight effect would be quite significant over such a distance?
In theory Solaris should be great for the reasons you put, but since I started working with Sun equipment (bout 6 mnths ago), I've found it to be a Pain in The Arse.. Every time we've had a power cut, something dies in the hardware, requiring a call-out from a Sun engineer.. Three tape-drives and one HDD in the past three weeks is just not funny..:( Maybe I've just had bad luck, but it seems a bit flaky to me..
But I prefer the subbed version myself (it feels more authentic), but the film doesn't even come close to the original manga. If you want Akira, read the books..
Admittedly, I haven't played some of the games you mention (I gave up on N64 before they were released), but Zelda and Mario64 sucked...
Perfect Dark is supposed to be cool tho'
'What experements have been done to try and simulate the early conditions of earth (based on admittedly limited evidence) seem to me to end up supporting the idea that life is actually much more likely than even the optimists thought.'
Yeah, I heard about this. 'They' reckon that if the conditions are right, then 'life' will always occur - like mould on old cheese... I don't have any links tho'
What's wrong with skinheads? Do you think they should be arrested for having short hair? This isn't Romper Stomper you know. I mean the government decides it's going to spy on it's people and you have to go and make a race issue out it. With people like you out there it's no wonder there's so much racism in the world...

Yeah, I thought it was a bit strong. Why single out China? Do they have a lot of oil?

..I'd still rather spend the cash on a decent x86 system running FreeBSD...

Perhaps the Pink Panther hid them there...

Considering that the only decent game I ever saw on the N64 was Goldeneye, I'm not holding my breath for this one...

Actually, I heard that Canada was the only country to sucessfully invade America and burn it's capital. Anybody know if this is true?
