The English magazine Private Eye has a section called Warballs which pokes fun at the medias desire to relate anything and everything to Sept 11. Just another instance of lazy journalism.
The only similar pledge I've ever uttered was made was when taking up Australian citizenship which is perfectly sensible and in accordance with the decision you are making.
There is a version both with and without God in it. This however lead to the strange situation where the "God" half and "no God" half sit on seperate sides of the room and take their pledges seperately. It seems to me that there would be better symbolism if they could drop the "under God" completely and everyone could make their pledge in union.
How would "all literate people know how something simple like this is designed, tested, and constructed" if articles such as this didn't exist to tell them?
According to this article the mobile phone companies prefer "venting with flame".
Coincidently I was looking at this stuff a couple of days ago. My Nokia 8250 had started turning itself off when in use. I wasn't sure whether it was the battery dying or the phone so I went to borrow a spare battery to test with.
When I opened the phone I noticed that rather than being flat the battery was bulging out as if it was pregnant. The bulge was enough that it was difficult to get the battery cover back on.
I now have a whole new phone (another Nokia, a 7250i).
One key feature that was missing in version 7 was account seperation (ie if you had multiple mail/news accounts it all got merged together) but in 7.2 you can view them individually (or together, or only news account or only mail accounts).
It's still a fairly young client and won't satisfy everyone but it should be good enough to satisfy most peoples requirements.
Dashboard was the in thing for a couple of weeks. Where did all the excitement go?
Did people discover it was interesting but not actually particularly useful?
Of course, we do get new wheel designs all the time. Sure they have the same basic principles (ie they roll) just as this new init system has the same basic principles (it starts things up).
But wheels today are radically different to those 3000 years ago. They are different from wheels of 10 years ago. They will be lighter, more efficient, provide better grip or in some other way be better suited to the task they perform than the wheels that have gone before them.
Ever sent or been sent and email with the path of a file on the network?//computername/directory/name of file.ext//computername/directory/name_of_file.ext
Only the second one is going to produce a useful clickable link in most mail clients (eg Outlook).

1. Ask Slashdot what sort of spyware is the worst. 2. Make this sort of spyware. 3. Profit!

Well said sir.

It's a shame that we are missing out. I wonder if an expression of interest sent to sydgroups@imax.com.au might convince them to get it in.

It's not a good idea to dispose of disposable lighters in this way.

Newer ones have Sir Henry Parkes and Catherine Helen Spence
Web Browsers have been doing this for non-existant domains ages.
The web browser is the right place to implement such a feature. Providing extended functionality to the user is the role of the user agent.
Implementing it all the way down in DNS is just bonkers.

Is that after reading a few Halflife forums the quality of Slashdot posters seems much better than it used to.

It's called progress and it is desirable.
It's added value.
They want people to have an extra reason to buy the real CD over the other alternatives.
Most salesman I interact with will tell you that [whatever your buying] can do [anything].
Led Zeppelin is verging on the criminal.
So it's not overly surprising to find it using off the shelf parts that work but weren't chosed for their aesthetic qualities.

Such behaviour may be useful in some instances but it should not be rooted deep down in the DNS systems.
Your user agent (ie your browser) is what should be doing this for you if you so desire.
would no doubt be the perfect tool to solve this conundrum.
A Supersprint clone (only about ten times better than the official Supersprint conversion). It used to say "Car 1 position 1" etc and "Game Over"
you could at least be right.
Copyright violation _is_ illegal (ie prohibited by law).
The word you were probably looking for is "criminal".
