And real-time messaging that's fully open; does that mean they're giving up that silly fight with microsoft?
Well, the protocols are open to use and implement yourself. The servers which AOL owns are not open, unless you can reach a deal with them. You can download the Slash source, but you can't exactly use it to attach to the/. backend.
Mozilla will be able to use AIM and ICQ due to the fact that AOL owns Netscape. Would they deny their own browser?
The ATI card was chosen for its colour correction as the main selling point. They are probably locked into them for OEM purposes, but they may dig themselves out soon. This does make things easier to support from their side, though. Same drivers, same tech, very easy for the grandmothers and schoolchildren.
Tacobell uses good 'ol dos on their touch screens. they have a application written in a curses style library and it's really simple, and only locked up once or twice as i've seen (but that's when the central controller went down.. damned black boxes)
I always thought NFS was dead and bogslow on any system. Not to mention insecure and broken in most implementations. Wonder how bogslow it would be on a 1000Base connection?
I was wondering if VA research is still being used, if the NFS connections are running over seperate Net cards, and if we can see more detailed specs for the httpd boxes. It's always nifty to read technical stuff.
My company is looking at VAR systems for handling some stuff, and we took note of this new system as a test case.
Your driver's license has your current address on it. Ever wonder why?
So they know where to send your wallet if you lose it. To make sure your address matches the one on your cheques. So they know where your registration forms go. My address still says "118 montville street" which is not my current location. That is actually on another card as an addendum.
Weither or not a controler for other machines will ever be made remains unclear. But I think I can answer this for myself: if your machine doesn't have AGP2X (or better), then you're out of luck
Which, correct me if i'm wrong, pc's have had for a year or so. If this is the same interface as the SGI screen (I beleive SGI uses the dvi interface) then it will work without difficulty.
1. The only system is for G4 MacOS (not even MacOS X).
There are already MACosX servers out there on their site. MACosX isn't even out yet for any platform.
2. You pay for MacOS even if you do not use it.
Granted, but for the most part, you pay a premium to have linux installed by dell or gateway. Instead of paying 99 for windows, you pay 99 (above asking price on the street) for linux
3. All offers are bundled in order achieve maximal "mortgage your home" factor.
I agree with this statement, since I don't want to write a cheque to purchase a computer.
Bundling is not illegal. Wedging out a product by changing in the background published specs is. Requiring an oem to use your product under your operating system or nothing is coercion at best, extortion at worst.
Well the reason the company's server is so slow in dealing the pictures is because they're 1.3 megs a piece. Another "clever" marketing group putting out pages that knows nothing about graphics formats. 300dpi for the web is wrong!
This I agree with, xfstt and others are outstanding in this respect! however, netscape doesn't have truedoc support under linux. I suppose it would be more accurate to say that linux doesn't have a truedoc library..
Things get moderated up because people login. It has nothing to do with intelligence:)
I for one like the new mac. I'm glad they dropped the colour thing in the g3 line. That blue was nauseating to me. This is more like the silver powerbooks, and i likes it!
As far as the PSX2 i concerned, it will come in at about 2-300 dollars for the system. This card looks like it will not be a commodity for some time. If it has 128 meg of ram/runs agp4x/etc, you can guess the target market. A clue: it ain't sub-$400 boxes.
No, it is NOT her fault for CHOOSING to work for a company that does "immoral" things. 1) unisys is in their rights to charge for a patent (even though they haven't been consistent about this) and 2) nobody "deserves" abuse such as this (except for spamford wallace since the punishment fits the crime.)
My main problem is with the inconsistent enforcement of this patent. How can they reasonably expect everybody to pay NOW, when this wasn't an issue before?
Yes, gimp CAN use libungif to produce gif files. In fact the./configure script may bomb out if you have both installed. While this is a good way of getting around it, you lose the compression. Also, libungif makes "dirty" gifs to my eye. But that's just my opinion.

well, the sega dreamcast at Toys R Us was locked Hard. The only thing I can attribute to that would be the CE logo on the front.

The agp 2x is no big deal on intel though.

For all those "why do you need a floppy" people: he was saying "what will intel make next, the iMAC?"
perhaps sarcasm tags are necessary.
Not to mention tripped on, pushed around, and SAT ON! oi, I'd hate to lose sectors to my two left feet.
11th commandment: Thou shalt lust after no other laptop other than a Thinkpad - heh heh.

Maybe sometime soon then..
Hear Hear!
Hell, you might get some use from AppleBasic!
I like the daemon, I like the penguin. I like be.

8.5 floppy? If you want that, buy yourself a late 80's AS/400 :)
That and a Giant coffee cup makes some pretty interesting pictures.
Same here, even on our frac T1 line. I guess it has something to do with the 100k jpegs.
1) remove any libs under /usr/local/lib/libgif*
2) download libungif from either GNU or from gimp.org.
3) compile libungif
4) compile gimp
this should work, if you cleaned up your libs thouroughly.

...or a STACK of drives, in the old school modular sense.
