    In 94 I went to Comdex, after having used OS/2 for a year or two. Microsoft had just announced Win95 would be released in 1995, giving IBM a 9 month + window to Do Something. At Comdex I found the IBM booth and asked them something about OS/2. Got a blank look. Asked someone else. Got a blank look. Nobody in the IBM booth had even heard of OS/2, let alone was able to answer questions about it.

    I knew that day that OS/2 was doomed.

    They get out, they get 3 years parole. On parole, if you look at your parole officer funny they can send you back. If your POs "workload" is too high they'll look for peeps to send back. Have a close friend or relative get sucked into the system, your attitude will almost certainly do a 180.

    I'd like to see the stats for how many get sent back once they're off parole, and possibly correlate those to how many got send back for BS parole violations.

    One has my house key, mailbox key, and bicycle key. The other has my car keys, dad's house key, storage locker key. When I ride my bike I leave the second one at home.

    Started this scheme about 3 years ago when I looked at my keychain and realized I didn't know what half those keys unlocked, and of the half that were left I no longer had the lock.

    It means you've had the same email address for 15+ years and don't want to change it.

    The only reason I finally got a gmail address was I wanted to be able to keep it through moving, changing ISP providers, changing jobs, etc. Having a consistent email address is a handy thing to have.

    Back in '94/'95 when Linux was new I asked Alan Cox a couple questions via email, which he replied. Made some changes to the driver to the ethernet chip we were using, he took those and thanked me. No experience with BSD so I can't contrast/compare.

    "Digital Native" means you're obsessed with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Opentable, selfies, etc.

    I was born in the 50's, bought a TRS-80 in '78 or so and have been programming ever since. Mostly device drivers, BSPs, etc.

    I know more about computers than most digital natives, yet it's hard for me to get a job because I'm old, don't use FB, don't twit, don't insta, don't have a phone full of selfies, etc.

    For a lot of animals their digestive system can't extract all the nutrients in one pass. By giving the food a second pass through the digestive tract they get more nutrients.

    TRS-80 in the late 70s. First was Basic, written by Microsoft. Then Z-80 assembly using the Microsoft editor, assembler, and linker. Did my debugging with TASMON (The Alternate Source Monitor), which was a great debugger.

    Sometime in the 80s Microsoft went from being a great company to being a group of douchebags.

    What you're saying is the problem lies with the lawyers. Which somehow doesn't surprise me.

    Get swatted, cops shoot your dog, toss a flash bang into your baby's crib, and scare the crap out of everyone in the family? Grand Jury decides we're cool, no cops get prosecuted.

    Get 911'd, cops look into it, figure there's a good chance it's a hoax, turns out it's not a hoax. Layers sue for millions and win.

    Essentially, the average citizen and common sense loses in both cases.
