The default notice lists a website that is in ca.gov, and it has the same info in the notice. I'm 100% sure it's not a scam. Well, it sounds like a scam from california, but not from Nigerians.
2-3 months ago I got a notice from the State (CA) collection agency stating I owed them $200 from 2007, along with warnings they could garnish my salary, garnish an incomtax refund, take my firstborn, etc. First I've heard of it. They have a number to call to ask questions. Half the time the phone isn't answered, the other half I leave voicemail that is never returned. So I'm prolly in collections, along with the credit ding, for a 7 year debt I knew nothing about and can't get any information on.
I'm about to spend the money for a registered letter to ask WTF, but I'll bet they don't respond to it.
Aside from doing anything illegal, hurting anyone, etc. Seems that if enough of us buy the Get On The Terrorist List for Dummies then the problem sort of solves itself by making the list useless.
some 20 years ago (yikes, did the math and it's closer to 30). I wanted to do signal processing and such, but I realized MIT grad students were doing all the fun stuff. I now write embedded software, and the only time I use math is when I either go off on a tangent, or sine off on an apology for doing so.
I've got my keePass database on my phone. It's always with me, readily available if I need to logon somewhere and I have a trusted computer handy (and a USB cable, of course),

Considering 90% of my storage is write once, read many (email, mp3, dvds, programs, etc), this is good for me as long as the drive has a good, errr, brain fart, scheme so when I write a byte it chooses one I haven't written to in a while. My SSD should last forever, or until the electron holes break free of their silicon bonds.
Python++. The only thing I don't like about it is the way whitespace delimits blocks, but that's already been gone over.
Javascript is the language from hell, I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
Off the top of my head, here's the languages I've used enough to feel like I was good at: awk, sed, bash, C, C++, perl, python, java, javascript.
Watching the news tonight the anchor said he offered 1.8 million. I kept watching for her to realize she blew it. Nothing. I backed it up and rewatched it, she definately said million, not billion.

I'm a touch typist, I suspect it wouldn't take much for me to get used to doing that.
Do I want a backward keyboard? No. But I think I could easily learn to use one.
1) If you need to take control it's probably going to be Right Effin Now!!!! If the car is driving itself what are the odds you're paying any attention to the road?
2) If the car has been driving you around for a couple years with no intervention from you, how good a driver do you think you'll be in an emergency?
My understanding is ESPN adds $2/mo to my cable bill. I never watch ESPN. When do I get the option to say "No thanks, I'd prefer $2/mon over watching steroid injected dudes do stuff I don't care about" ?
Went to pay my Uverse bill friday, it had jumped 50% (from 117 to 179). Went through the series I record, found 11 channels I actually care about.
Called Uverse Monday, was on hold 40 minutes and they disconnected me.
Called again Tues, was on hold 40 minutes and they disconnected me.
Called again this morning, ended up agreeing to fewer channels, no HD, no Showtime, for the same damned price I'd been paying the last 4 years.
I'm thinking I'll spend tomorrow researching laws (I live in California) to see if that verbal contract is valid, and what my options are.
