does that include today? Or just the last 365 days??

  4. we are rewarded really.... on Online community volunteers under investigation? · · Score: 1

If you want some returns for what you do on slashdot...just post a really intelligent comment...and then throw in a plug for your web site at the end. While this is completely silly....it could get you a buck or two in ad dollars...and it doesnt require rob to do anything, so its good.

  5. parents? on Doom Causes Kid to Kill · · Score: 1

No...Apparently his parents werent the ones who raised him....so its not there fault. Thats pretty cute. You would almost think, being parents and all, they may want to consider being responsible. But no....its America...we don't need that.

  6. Enough is enough on UF/BeDope/Segfault Shutdown! · · Score: 1

every author should post this _at_least_ one time today. in fact...if it could be there twenty times or so, someone might actually see it.

I honestly hope that no one makes a joke about this or something. It really is serious. Rape is horrible, and personally, I think rapists should be put in a large room with eachother and shot, but thats me. As far as how this applies to the Internet...apparently that particular officer has taken the "I am the law and know all" attitude, as opposed to "I am human and need to learn about this" that is more proffesional and shows more courage than hitting someone with his opinion like it was his night-stick. The media has fun thinking the Internet is a bunch of sex freaks who go around kidnapping people they meet in chat rooms and pedophiling eachother and whatnot. Let them think that, it sells newspapers. Then look at all the good that has come out of the Internet, and the availability of this resource to get informed, and ask them why they are destroying their own tool?

  8. fear on MP3s Causing Decline in CD Sales? · · Score: 1

They are scared for the same reason any corporation is scared of anything, and for what a lot of things come down to in the end. Money. They aren't worried about the person who rips all his CD's so its easier for him to listen to them....they are worried about the circle of 100 friends, who go out and buy 2 CD's each, and then rip them and exchange them with eachother. When this happens, they sell 9800 less CD's then they would if everyone bought their own.

  9. this is a bit out of hand on US Gov't irritated with NSI · · Score: 1

If ever something could be more postponed(besides certain free software releases of course)...hopefully, the lack of time efficiency on their part is more of a "lets make sure it works", than "lets make more money".

  10. thats cute on Wired on Kipling · · Score: 1

Apparently the VP of Kipling LIKES showing himself as an uninformed person. Thats bound to sell bags.

  11. No Subject Given on Typical Misinterpretation Of "Hacker" · · Score: 2

you almost have to wonder who they are targetting with this. Anyone who actually knows what's going on, probably found out about this gear through slashdot, and by that token, sees how silly it is. Anyone who lives in the real world(yes I consider the fun little internet-world that we live in to be different from the real world), and doesn't have a clue will say "no...I can't wear that...I'd be a geek(please...no debate over geek definition). I think the market is limited to 12-14 year old kids who like to win-nuke eachother, and grandmothers who will send this to their 12-14 year old grandchildren after they win-nuke her.
