Gah, I hate it when people call the engines in a car a motor, but that is technically correct, even though engine is a more accuracte term. On the other hand, engine is the completely wrong term for an electric motor.
Okay, the parent to this post did dissect my joke a little farther than I ever intended. But missed one thing. If one were to register lat.io they will only let you use www.lat.io and have it forwarded to another website. Plus they let other people register the same domain. If there are multiple registrations for lat.io they will just display a page with all the sites, and the visitor has to pick which one they wanted to go to. So if you ask me that is pretty sucky.
I will modify my behavior, pretending to be interested, so I can get the telemarketer's name and name of the company and ask to be removed from the list.
That is what I do (when I feel like answering). Then I add them to my do-not-call-list list. If I get another call from them, I inform them that I had already asked to be placed on their DNC on what ever date the last call was made.
This is about half the size of a traditional laptop, and thinner than most digital cameras. I have an older model. It fits in the back pocket of my jeans (I wear baggy jeans).
Well the one thing I learned, was the +0 sharpness setting on the PS2 is actually still effected, -2 is the actual neutral settings. Of course I don't watch DVDs on my PS2, I have a dedicated DVD player with component outs and S/PDIF.
When you start to have that many drives you should stagger the spin ups (most SCSI drives have a jumper to delay spin up for a number of seconds multiplied by their SCSI ID). Not for the reason you suggest, but because the most current is drawn during spin up. Spinning all the drives up at once can actually put a lot of strain on a power supply. Even if it can provide enough power once the drives are spinning the extra load at start may be enough to cause a sag in the power going to the mother board. It isn't just over voltage conditions that are bad for computers, low voltages can also be harmful.
Actually it is easy to get the no activation required version of XP. While I don't run Windows, I did build a machine for someone. They gave me a CD that said Windows XP on it, but it was obviously a copy. I asked if they had a serial number, and they said it wasn't needed. Turns out it was an student version. One of the local colleges makes copies and sells them for $15 to students, and it is totally legal and sanctioned by MS.
In Apache 2.0 CGI applications can write SSI statements that will then be processed.
I still write a lot of CGI in C, and while it isn't so hard to open a file and write it to the standard out, I'm thinking about giving the CGI/SSI combo a try.
Back in the BBS days, when we got together in person, I heard someone say "roll-o flam-o". I asked them what the fuck they had just said, and then proceded to fall to the floor laughing, as I rolled about. Though my ass did not leave my body.
Well if the "5-10" in the subject wasn't enough for you, quoting CmdrTaco, "I'm still getting 5-10 klez virus's a day!"
This thread was about Taco always complaining about the number of viruses he gets in his inbox. You'd think the person responsible for creating Slashdot would do something a little more proactive than complaning...or not.
Yeah, that pisses me off. There is one local ISP that e-mails postmaster@domain-that-was-in-the-from for every virus it gets in the mail. I know the virus isn't coming from my server, cause as I said in another post I run Exiscan from within Exim. It is nice, it just closes the SMTP connection when a virus is detected with an error message.
Daft Punk put a credit card sized card inside their CD with a unique number were you could download MP3 singles of remixes and live versions of the song from a special website.
Sega has cards that were slightly smaller then the HuCards for their Master System. The cards were limited to 32k though, where Sega's biggest carts were 4 Mega[bits] (512k). The Sega Master System used a bank switching scheme much like the NES, but there was no need for "mappers" as the SMS had it's own built in mapping hardware. From my research it seems that it should have been able to address 256 banks (at least from a software standpoint, there probally were hardware limits like address lines, but I was a coder not a hardware designer).
That makes sense. I was wondering how the content would get onto the PS2, as it has no video in, and I don't know of any hardware addon that would add that feature either.
I was also going to comment that PCs are kinda loud with all their fans. But I can hear the PS2 across the room also. I bet I could build a quieter PC (not that I have a fetish for quiet PCs like the/. crew, I think the louder the better, shows you have power.:)
Canopy isn't that expensive compaired to most of the broadband fixed wireless solutions. It is designed to be mounted outdoors, but "ruggedised" is not a term I would use. There are no seals around the bottom half of the unit that pulls off to give you access to the RJ-45 jack. They just overlap the top of the unit by about a half inch. Also no seals around where the cable runs out of the bottom. The cable actually runs threw a circular hole half of which is in the two parts of the shell.
Had to describe, but if you saw (felt) one in person, you would not be calling it rugged.
On the other hand, the switch/GPS/power inserter that one would locate at a tower site is very nice. Fully water tight, seals around everything. Solid too.
But that was the what Motorola intended, to try to make the subscriber units as cheap as possible, so it could be a viable solution on the price level of DSL and cable. Still it costs a little more, but the cost will hopefully fall over time.
Have you seen uncompressed raw.tiff files from Canon's D60 (which this will be upping)? There are the throw away 2, 3, 4, whatever, megapixel consumer cameras. They keep boosting the MP rating, but doing nothing about color depth. On the other hand Canon's professional digital cameras are very sensitive to highlights and shadows.
This isn't that big of a jump over their highest professional camera at this point. I guarantee this is only for their professional line.
It is strange about the Itaniums. Origianlly SGI was looking towards Windows NT to replace IRIX, and thus they started working with the Intel platform. But now they have turned that interest to Linux, which runs just fine on the MIPS.

And what about the pop star who needs a belt for her pants (but I hope she doesn't get one)?
Well there is XHTML, but it requires that the start and end tags be of the same case./>A </b> won't close a <B>.

Either that, or Lexx.

...which in turn cleaned the window.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Must have the MPAA/RIAA lawyers heads spinning so fast they are going to implode.

I get none. Why don't people have virus filters on their e-mail servers?
Exim + Exiscan = Bliss.

Have they also disabled people leaving Bugzilla to go to Slashdot? Okay, I know that was bad.
