At least once religion is all about creating a functioning society that enriches everyone's lives as much as possible. Sure, there's ritual components to Judaism, too. It is a religion, after all. However, assuming that no religion can provide a basis for a functioning society demonstrates your ignorance of religion.

Frankly, it's entirely expected that idiots on Slashdot, who apparently never interact with human beings, believe that most iPhones are disposed of every two years. Sure, those who still take subsidized phones may replace them, but those phones aren't disposed of. They get refurbished by the carrier, or sold by the owner. The phones are in use for probably 5 or 6 years, depending on how well they are cared for.

This is really no different than the early PC market. Those with cash and incentive (game players, CADCAM users, etc) would upgrade annually or bi-annually. The replaced PCs would be refurbished or handed down to others who didn't need the latest. Did you go on about how weird it is that people swallowed the marketing that those $3000 computers should be disposed of every two years?

When a garden has a few weeds, you pull them out. When a garden has a lot of weeds, or when the weeds are too persistent, you mow everything down, dig out the roots, plow the remainder under, and start over. The Arabs are the weeds. I'll leave it to others to decide where along the garden spectrum they lie at this point.

  18. Violations of International Law only matter when Israel is the violator. When Arabs do it (hi there, Morocco), it's perfectly OK. When a favored-status trading partner does it (hi, China!), it's OK. When Israel does it to territory captured in a war, it's suddenly the root of all evil.

Somehow, I don't buy it. The Arab-Israeli conflict is predicated on the Arab's inability to accept loss to a Jew. That's it. Nothing else matters.

  19. Yes. The Russian-Israelis have been carrying out regular insurgencies into the WB and Gaza to steal territory. /eyeroll.

You deserve to see your loved ones murdered in their beds. (After all, that's OK when it happens to Jews, right?)

  20. Arab behavior started long before the settlements and long before the policy of demolishing homes. Arabs are sore losers, and that underlies every single Arab- conflict in history. Their religion just makes it worse, but a secular Arab can be brought to the same destination, same as any Maoist or die-hard Communist.

The Jews were fighting British forces as much as Arab, in the War for Independence. The British didn't hand over anything. That aside, it's been over 60 years. When will the Arabs realize they lost the war and get on with living? They were given Jordan, which is significantly larger than the 1948 borders of Israel. The West Bank was part of Jordan then, and between 1948 and 1967 there was not a single Jordanian civil war to create an autonomous "Palestinian" State. Only after Jordan lost the territory to Israel do we find that suddenly the "Palestinian" people need their own State.

Arabs can't stand losing to Jews. There is absolutely nothing else of any consequence to explain the history of the Israeli-Arab conflict. Wars happen; some win and some lose. This has been the entire known history of humanity. Only Jews who win are expected to give in to the losers.
