    just for the hell of it i'll say that buckeye express is the worst cable modem service you can get. Bandwidth down to 14K/s often. And I assure you nothing has changed since these people were arrested, it's just as slow. I'm glad I live outside Toledo where I get roadrunner up to 250K/s from many sites.

    IP addresses are controled by IANA, the Internet assigned numbers authority. (US Represestitive being ARIN. And they can't come anywhere close to what you think they can do. They just delegate numbers.

    And ICANN is not really a bussieness like you are thinking, it is a non-profit corperation for the "public good". Sort of like the corperation for public broadcasting.

    You really think that Linus did more work than the GNU project did? You really think that GNU came in after Linus had his kernel built and just tried to take credit? GNU existed 7 years before Linus did anything!

    Linux was named after Linus. Who chose that? Linus.

    This post is so wrong I can't concieve how to correct it. I think I'll just go throw up right now.

    Actualy, trying to dictate IF someone can say something is a violation of the first amendment. "When" falls under the time/place/manner restrictions. For instance, shouting your message at 110db (somehow) in the middle of town at 3AM is not protected speech.

    I love my trackball! Got it at staples, the biggest trackball that anyone makes anymore. And anyways, the mouse is significantly worse for your wrists. Almost correspondes with my DVORAK useage.

    I don't see any resemblance. Am I looking at the right picture? Or is gateway cloneing the idea of a LCD and a computer in one box? That's been around since the iMac and cheap LCD's have existed. Overall, if anything, this is a CRT iMac clone.

    It would be quite easy to configure the kernel build process for several machines to each make a .o file, and them send them to a master machine for a final link.

    There are about 540 object files for (my) kernel build. Given say 20 Pentium Pro's, each would have to build 27 object files. That's not too bad. I don't have a pentium to test the speed on, or a cluster of 20 of them to do this, but it seems alot easier than NUMA.

    To clearify my statement, lets interpret 'free' as $500 USD, for a machine plus operateing system. $2000 should be changed to $1500 USD above and beyond where we set `free`.

    I know that there will be a performance difference.

    I don't think the goverment needs to put in any laws, just that you must be very careful about you'r lisense agreement. All the software I write at least has something saying that I will try to help, but I will not be legaly obligated to help, and whatever you do with my software is you fault. I don't see what the big deal is about.

    /. is "News For Nerds". I find it extreamly interesting how smart these people are to figure and reverse enginere the tivo. Is it evil to reverse enginere I guess I want to ask? I enjoy reverse enginering, and I call my self a hacker. I also program in many languages, and call my self a hacker. I don't illegaly break in to things, I just take what I know and use it to figure out what I don't. I don't see anyway that you can say that the internet is powered by a few programmers called the "h464blahblahblahX6Death". The "Open source Revolution" is powered hundreds and thousands of programmers, working together to make software. These people are the real hackers and not some sort of Counter-cluture, but are just smart people. In you post you calim that these "h3fdBlah" people are keeping out censorship, even though you wonder why this artical wasn't censored. I label you Hypocrite and a promoter of propaganda. How is Reverse Enginereing Evil? Someone answer this, I don't know how it could be evil.

    For a while I was working one the mozilla project, but I just endedup leaving just because it didn't seem like anything was going on. They have an exelent bug tracking program, but you put a bug in there and nothing happens to it. I fixed one minor bug, had code and diffs ready to go, and I am still waiting for it to be put into the cvs. Horribly project, too much code. I don't care if it's the most standards complient or open source or whatever, it doesn't work, and Im staying with IE.
