Guns are just as much a cause of violence as video games are. I could kill someone with a spoon, but I would never blame the violence on a spoon. I could listen to Kenny G and then kill someone, but it's not Kenny G's fault. It's the morals of the individual that needs to be examined, and the government can't regulate that.
Many of the old console emulators do this exact thing. It's really nice to save the state of the game, and load it back up exactly where you left off. It makes it really easy to cheat too!
I was wondering the exact same things about other applications, or the whole OS itself! Woudn't it be much faster to have an on/off button that would save and load the state of the computer? Then you wouldn't have to boot it up and down, you can just pick up where you left off. Maybe this isn't feasible, I don't know.
Note that it has not yet actually sold one million GameCubes
I never said GameCubes. I own a Gamecube, and I think it's fun.
Note also that you have a very weak grasp on the difference between hard facts and vague marketing hype.
You seem to be clouded by hype as well. The Gamecube is a more powerful system than the PS2. The Gamecube is not marketed primarily at small children. It's a game console. People who like to play games will buy it.
Well, it depends if they shutdown FastTrack or not. Morpheus uses the same network as KaZaa. I think KaZaa is making money off of this P2P network, so they're a target for the RIAA. So if they are the target, does FastTrack stay immune?
BTW... giFT is an open FastTrack client. Last I checked it was blocked out somehow.
Actually, it's not a less powerful system. Look at the stats. A more powerful CPU, GPU, faster RAM and more of it. Nintendo is conservative on the amount of polygons it can push because they like to give realistic in-game figures where you have to account for textures, effects, and AI. GC has plenty of developer support. N64 had virtually no developer support because of the cost of the cartridge. Many developers have pledged support for the Cube.
Everyone who likes videogames wants the PS2, and will buy the PS2 in preference to anything else
For some reason, Nintendo sold millions of consoles to people who don't like video games. It must play DVDs or something... wait it doesn't.
Ugh.. this is the most uninformed drivel I've ever read. His argument is basically - Wellllll, the Playstation sold the most console ever sooooo that means the Gamecube will be the worst system ever. He goes on and on with this argument. Guess what... Atari was the force to be reckoned with in the video game business before Nintendo, and look where they are now! Obviously this guy is a Sony zealot, and thinks that because he pronounced himself "Gord" (*sigh*) he knows the future. His "prophecy" about the XBox says that he is an expert on video games because he owns a video game store, and went on to compare Nintendo and Sony to Nazis. A real class act...
Brillian comment sir. I also like that in the middle of this commentary you decided to say "bling-bling." Now I have soda sprayed all over my keyboard. Thanks.
Does anyone know if there will be any more videos in this series? It seems to leave off at the climax, and we don't get to see if the alien rock band gets saved or not! I love these videos, and I want more!
How about that floppy disk netinstall? It only takes 2 1.44 meg disks, and you can install whichever version you want (stable, testing, or unstable)! We don't need no stinkin' newfangled DVD thingeys!
I've been lurking on their devel mailing list (check out their project page) and E's progress has slowed because of the recent downturn the tech industry. Open source programmers need jobs too....
Check out the Intimate project. The thought of a fully functional Debian-based distro for the iPAQ makes me want to shell out the big bucks for one of these babies. Also, the ability to emulate SNES games on this thing is enough to make me fork a couple hundred over to Compaq.
Wine is NOT and emulator.
That's what Wine stands for! From what I hear, Wine is not supposed to run any slower than Windows does ( I don't know the technical details of it all )
I'm sure this is all hype. Of course people are going to see it at E3 and have a positive response. This way Mr. Yamauchi can say "Well, since the demand was SOOOO HIGH, we have decided to release the Gamecube." Nintendo isn't going to go back on years of R&D when the GC is so close to launch. Take this quote with a barrel of salt.
I found a commercial DVD player for Linux called PowerDVD. Unfortunatly they say it's only for embedded systems. I wonder why that is? And wouldn't this mean that they are using DeCSS??
Well, PBS shows educational programs. I think it actually has decent childrens' programming - plus one of the college courses I am taking is shown on PBS! I hope PBS sticks around for a long time, or else I guess we will have to use the TV as a national lobotomizer rather than an educational tool.
The Death and Rebirth movie is just basically a summary of the whole series. If you have Eva on DVD already, there is no reason to get Death and Rebirth. End of Eva is pretty cool though, but it seems to me to be an alternate ending to the series rather than a continuation of it. There are also alot of mixed feelings in the anime community about End of Eva, but it is worth it to see the best fight in all of Evangelion (Asuka vs.....I wouldn't want to spoil anything!)
Somehow I got the impression that Linux is moving towards ReiserFS, and now I'm hearing about this XFS? Is Reiserfs doomed? Will XFS be better than the XFL?
Did anyone catch that on The Lone Gunmen today? I didn't know cookies were so dangerous... maybe/. is trying to hack our system with that cookie..... Be afraid!
Like I've always said, if it isn't a dystopian work that exposes the inherent absurdity of authoritarian bureaucracies, it isn't worth reading.

Aaaah. That second to last statement should read Nintendo and Sega. must.. resist.. desire.. to push.. submit.. immediately

A new game console, plus a Star Wars related game... what else could a geek possibly want?

Yeah, but you need one microdrives for Intimate. How much are they?

I bet the local gangs were worried someone was taking over their turf. Actually, they were probably just really, really confused.

Hmmm... that translation is almost as bad as AYBABTU
