A different way of entering calculations. For example, to calculate 3+2, type: 3(enter) 2 + (no equals sign)
or for (9+7)*3, type: 9(enter) 7 + 3 *
Takes a little getting use to, but after using it for a while, it becomes natural. I can barely figure out how to use a "regular" calculator now. BTW, I'm the proud owner of an HP 32SII that hasn't needed a new battery in about 15 years.
Blocbuster has a deal where you buy a 10 week rental card, $25 I think, and you will get a free FOTR tape or DVD. I believe the rental card is good for 1 video/DVD a week. Since their rates are now like $3-4 per rental, this would be a good deal if you rent at least one movie a week from Blockbuster. See participating stores for details, offer good while supplies last, expires Aug. 5, blah blah blah. (I do not work for Blockbuster, thank God). I think it only is good for the August release.
You DON'T need the 'additional visual material' to make sense of the book. Millions of people read and enjoyed Tolkien long before this atlas was released. The amazing thing is that the world Tolkien created is so real, you feel like there should be an atlas. There's an entire world that exists regardless of the story. With many authors, you don't feel like anything is going on outside the confines of the story.
In my limited experience, I've found that the more "common" your email address, the more likely it is that you will get spam. My wife had a hotmail account nmcdonald29@hotmail.com Obviously, a good way for a spammer to operate is to send mail to obvious names like that, i.e. send mail to nmcdonald1@hotmail.com, nmcdonald2@hotmail.com, etc.
Once she changed to a yahoo account, with the address nancy94376@yahoo.com, the flow of spam has almost stopped. Of course, perhaps yahoo does a better job of filtering than hotmail.
It might be a good experiment to open up several accounts at the same service with names of varying "commonness", and see which ones get the most email, e.g.
fjkflfjk78@yahoo.com
nancy74384738@yahoo.com
nancy1@yahoo.com

I read a similar story in the local Easy Reader newspaper about this incident. There was another, I thought, disturbing story in the same town, Manhattan Beach. A middle school student was found with some pot, and suspended for five days. But when he returned to school, the principal _ordered_ the other students to shun him at lunch and nutrition(?) for the rest of the trimester, and ordered the student not to joke or make light of the incident. Free speech anyone?
At least one of the comments that they claim contains a copy of the spec, does NOT contain the spec. Post #86 by smartin simply says "What happens to the people that implement it (ie. the Samba guys) even if they obtain the information without intentionally breaking the license. Are they exposing themselves to expensive litigation? Are they endangering the project?" It's post #87, by anonymous coward, that contains the spec. Thus, Microsoft has unjustly slandered the good name of "smartin". Who knows what else they have wrong.
What I would like to see ported, and I never see talked about, are sports games. I'm particularly partial to EA sports FIFA 99 soccer games. Do Linux users prefer carnage to goal-scoring? FIFA 99 is the only thing keeping Windows on my machine right now. Of course, I would have to get my joystick working on Linux then.
At the risk of waiting a couple of extra weeks, it would be really cool to debut whatever this is during the Super Bowl, (see Apple) for the maximum exposure.
> They must perceive some sort of demand among their generic Win32 users for basic Linux installation help. You have me to thank for that. I used to subscribe to PC World. When I cancelled, I used the reply card to say that I was cancelling because they never had any Linux coverage. Now they do. So filling out those reply cards can make a difference.

The financial institutions are required to inform you by July 1. That is the deadline spoken of in the article.
You can opt out anytime you want, although of course, the earlier the better. So yes, this article *is* timely.

How about running Slashdot for a few days on an NT box
and see how it compares to the current site?
