Apparently Apple Computer has patented a method of theming the OS.
they have a patent on the method of theming; not on the end result. If you can prove that you can to the same end result without using the same method of getting there, then you're ok.
I would say that ripping off the theme from apple is not replicating their method. Then again, one could argue they ripped the whole gui thing from xerox, and so ripping it off from apple would be against the patent in the sense of using the same method.
It seems to me that as more and mroe people got the surgery, the second number would float up for any given person. After all, the average person would be able to see better. I therefore argue that the optimal limit would be 20/20, because everyone would have the surgery.
But thats just me being the (smart) ass that I am.
This may be naive, but what kinda gui do they have going for it? Screenshots? I can't find any. Is the gui part of the OS or a completely seperate node? what does this OS do thats so special? Why would I want to use this OS ever? Is it solely for embedded systems?
Yes, but is it capable of IR printing? How about handwriting recognition? Can it tell thedifference between letters and graphics? What about the size? I think 8.5*11 is pushing the whole "portable" thing.
I just can't wait till someone comes out with the 3*5 and 4*6 versions of this "notepad" device. I see a great potential market for such things, such as indexing information. They could call them "index cards."
I marvel at the future; it will be a wonderous place.
Well, open source or not, I am working on a handwriting recognition algorithm at a lab here at Brown University that has IBM's interest running high. I can't assure open source, but I could state that it has around 98% accuracy in cursive handwriting and would be free. Tickle your fancy? Anyway, with this in place, making graffiti work would be a synch (and completely dumb to do).
Hold on. Joe Leiberman is not for censoring. He has NEVER tried to censor. He is a very good friend of the 1st amendment and the only work he has done realzted to freedom of speech is make sure only the right people hear the stuff that not all people should hear. He may not like the M rated stuff and the toy guns, etc, but the only thing he will ever do in law is make it so that children do not have access to them. Is this such a bad thing? He is looking out for them. He is not telling the industry they can't produce these items, but he is telling them they can't market them to children.
Being a good citizen and censorship are completely different. Before you go pointing fingers at my senator (went to school 2 blocks from his house), realize that he could not and would not censor. If anything, he would give credibility to the industry by letting them have a good name in the eyes of the consumer.
UPN, like Fox some hours of the day, is the rebroadcast other channel's material channel. It seems in this case the Saturday game was so out of date and had so little demand after we all realized it was just bad football, that UPN already got the rights overnight. Oh well. I don't get UPN.
Just to day I got my cuecat, and from now on I will surf by UPC. I already have a page of urls that have been associated with whatever coke and poptart product UPCs I found in the trash. That way, I don't need to memorize the url for slashdot.org or dailyradar.com.
See, older folk just don't recognize lazyness when they see it; they think it's just that we have bad memories. hah.
Now where did I put the upc for adultcheck.com...bah...I knew I shoulda organized these.
vnc for linux. point in case. Control any other computer in the world thats on the net and running the server. That has huge appeal. vnc runs on windows, unix, linux, mac. Think of the possibilities.
Uh, Mr President, it seems China just got hold of our missle launch codes. Apparently one of our staff was using AOL Messanger on his insecure virtual computer and while cutting and pasting codes on his secure VM, an IM blinked up without him knowing it and he pasted and pressed enter before noticing the window. It turns out that with the disallowment of computer speakers in the office, it's impossible to predict this scenario occuring.
And what's worse, since he was using cut-paste, he lossed the code once he closed the window, clearly not a very lucid move, and now we can not change the launch code without the old one. Isn't that a bummer?
I think the idea was to port the OS to the standared x86 architecture, as opposed to changing their entire line to said specifications. To that extent, everything you stated is only valid if the consumer expects an Apple OS to run jut as well on a homemade computer than on a nice new G4.
The problem I forsee is getting the masses to accept the OS as a replacement to Windows. Virtually every computer that the average person buys comes with Windows preinstalled. How would these people get enough experience with OSX before they decided they wanna trash Windows? And then, would they see enough differences to feel the need to change OSes?
So you would sell the use of your sister's body at an hourly rate...
sounds like we found the only reason we need for cloning...is it illegal for a clone to prostitute if they are not really humans?...seems just dandy to me =)

open source community write something for windows?!?! no way! I thought they were all crazy drugies that use that norweigen operating system...wow!
but the only thing thats going to put weapons in space is the media hype. Seriously people..China will not want war any more than we do. The only reason that a war would ever break out is cause the US is gonna be asking for it. We have got to move past the Cold War. We will only live in peace if we are willing to believe that we are not the only one's that want peace.
When you got the media virtually telling China "We don't trust you. We think you are going to attack us" what do the chinese have left but to live up to this misconception and put weapons to their disposal, perhaps only as a defensive move, but knowing the US it will "clearly" be an offensive.
I am sick of word war. Sick of the idea that there are evil countries. Sick that the US itself is not truly willing to believe in peace.
It is a sad sad thing. And I am only 19 years old. Good work, America. "Go fuck yourself with the Atom bomb," as Allen Ginsberg put it.
Seems that explosion cause a rip in the space-time continum, shooting the space shuttle 15 light-years into the future, and we only found about it now.
and you will see they didn't actually deny stopping production. They only stated that they will continue to support the DC and 100s of games are in production:
Sega Statement
January 23, 2001
Sega of America stated today that the company globally reaffirms its commitment to Dreamcast. In fact, Sega has more than 100 games worldwide coming out for the platform in the next year. It is not Sega's policy to comment on rumors and the company has not made any statement regarding ceasing manufacturing of Dreamcast or development for other videogame platforms.
No single word here states "No, that is not true; we will continue to build dreamcasts"

This is why I will never be a lawyer ;-)

may I also say "eeeu!" not for me

When's MTV Spring Break again? like..right in the middle of Springer Break. I think we have the technology for a precision drop, don't you?

woah..so they got 32Megs of ram on a chip that happens to be a huge chip. woop!
I suppose thats more impressive than 32megs on a 7" chipset...

I take that back..it only says in the hw requirements laptops, but under the description it says anything running 98 or 2k. =)
wrong. check the page. only works on ibm laptops. =(

Holy god that looks beautiful. But will it interface with windows? I think thats a serious limitation that apple will have to think about.
oh yeh...it was exactly 15 years ago..I get it..
I killed linux...I needed more space for...uh..downloads...good stuff.
My only problem is that if someone holds the gift card upsidedown, it would look like :-( and I would be in a shit load of trouble...hrm...
this is the unreal engine; hence unreality.
Either that, or it's his subconcious...
