  1. Same problem here in Phoenix AZ on Broadband from World's Tallest Building · · Score: 1

I tried to get their Sprint Broadband services which is being broadcasted from South Mountain.
The problem I ran into is no line of sight because of a condo in front of me.
Don't you think that a company like Sprint could afford to put neighbourhood relays where they have one central antenna pointing to their main one?
Does anybody have more information on what Sprint is going to do about the big market piece they don't have "line of sight" to?

How is knowing 100 passwords, 1000 phone numbers, endless number of formulas, ... going to make us smarter?

I am a lot more creative and productive when I can take things from where other people or I left them before and improve them instead of creating some sort of memorization process in my head for a bunch of little things.

An example on how retarded it is to memorize a lot of stuff instead of using stored information would be writing Windows applications without using any libraries.

  15. Are we ready for this? - Titanic Model. on NASA Tests Flying Scooter For Commercial Take-Off · · Score: 1

This is a great Idea but is the technology we currently have advanced ENOUGH to allow us to do this? The air scooter needs to be able to self navigate which should include all variables of transportation flights. The pilot should be able to use some form of mapquest and program the destination. At the same time the device should be networked to all other flight scooters and decide using GPS systems what route it should be allowed to take. (USE of internet and satellite technology at its best...) All-around airbags like the ones used for mars landings should be available in case of a emergency. Could you get stuck in flying doctors traffic? Any solution for that?

  22. US is way more realistic on The United States Losing "The Tech Edge?" · · Score: 1

Take Microsoft as an example for how good it is to not be the first coming up with the technology first. Why start pushing technology that isn't succesfull enough? In that article they are talking about the Nokia cell phones accessing the internet. First why do you need internet on a small phone with a stupid small monochrome display when the color PDA market is booming in US? Secondly, it's slow and because of the non-standard technology it uses, it has low availability, it's hard to write an e-mail on it and is very slow. GSM is a nice digital technology that can be implemented cheap but I'd rather have low orbit satelites service my full color, multi feature, standardized PDA because a 14400 connection is annoying. Then they talk about Sony and PlayStation II. Another annoying machine that will get you connected by displaying everything on your TV (320x300 resolution) by using a slow modem. If I want WebTV I can get WebTV from a lot of american companies. Nice downgrade! Playstation II will be popular because it's a sequel of the old playstation not because of the features it has. What were they thinking about writing that article?
