  2. Space colonies will be independent on U.S. Announces New Space Security Policy · · Score: 1

I see space colonies becoming independent as the US became independent from England. Main reason is distance. It is impossible to control something that is far away because the locals have the time advantage.

It is even more true with space colonies. For example it would take at least 15 minutes to relay an instruction to Mars from an earth-bound home base.

You could argue that the colonies were established by the government of different countries so they are morally obligated to let themselves be controlled by those countries but you must realize that that is unreasonable as history has proved.

  3. I live in Phoenix on Earth's Temperature at Highest Levels in 400 Years · · Score: 1

While we enjoy cooking in the desert summer heat, have fun with your tornadoes, tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes, and highly variable temperatures. Living in the desert is awesome. We have continuous temperatures of 75-80 all year. Going outside in the summer during the day sucks but that's why we have A/C, wide roads, and pools which are pretty much standard.

People building also doesn't make everything hotter in the desert. If anything, it cools the desert down because people plant and maintain grass, and trees and which help cool down the soil.

The real problems around global warming are places where high temperatures are not expected, A/C is not available, and walking is a necessity to move around. In other cities with temperate climes many people die when there is a heat wave. In Phoenix it doesn't happen as much because people know what to expect and are not crazy enough to hang out in the heat.

BTW, here is a picture of Phoenix surrounded by snow this past winter

Self-sufficiency through advanced technology such as medical nanobots using advanced high quality (7 sigma) software able to diagnose and heal would be the only ways people could stop having to rely on some form of government for health-care.

It's the new American way of doing things. Instead of making honest money by taxing the sale of the games they try to make money by making them illegal so that they can demand money for unnecessary work.

The Netherlands is on the opposite side of mentality. They let themselves be more liberal to raise money that keeps their country from being under the Atlantic!

    This is very true.

One example I can think of is how the Nixon administration made drugs illegal because they needed to hang something onto the anti-Nixon demonstrators who weren't doing anything illegal but who were an inconvenience.

Even though the revolution against Nixon was won through the freedom of press, it wasn't seen as a revolution and as such we got left with the fallout regulations.

I wonder what fallout we will be left with after Bush. Will it be regulation against our privacy? Not even Nixon managed to pull that one through.

There could be a lot more financial help to make programming more interesting to children but unfortunately teachers and politicians don't seem to get it so they pay no attention to the subject. The computers in public schools suck, and are poorly managed.
