Chillingly, he claimed our technology is "not nearly as sophisticated" as theirs and "had they been hostile", he warned "we would be been gone by now".
I've been watching this new network on DirectTV. Basically they do serveral things well. The network is really addictive to watch.
- All (almost all) shows are 7 minutes long unless they are REALLY interesting. - Viewers can submit video's and Current.tv airs them. - They use google search statistics to find new things to air. - They have a 'Google News' segment every half hour that is a short news broadcast based on Google search statistics. - You can bet that Advertisers are buying these statistics too.
It is kind of like randomly searching the web without having to use the HUGE amount of energy it takes to push the mouse around.:)

Geekcorps Mali has a problem, a hot problem. We are installing computers in many community radio stations across Mali, West Africa home of the famous Timbuktu and the Sahara Desert, and as you might imagine, it's hot. http://www.geekcorps.org/default.asp?l1i=2&l2i=119 &l3i=453#453 http://www.geekcorps.org
What if you just used the RAM to mirror the contents of your Hard Drive?
Just load the whole damn partition into RAM at startup. or use some scheme to load part of it into RAM, then boot, then continue to load in the background.
Girls?!? Whats that?
Is that a new Linux distro without a Pentium flaw?
OH NO!
They found out some people run MS-WINDOWS!

There is a new network on DirectTV feeds called 'Current TV'
:)
It uses google search data for news broadcasts and story selection. It also lets users submit content.
Google runs or is somehow related to a new television network. http://www.current.tv/

What is missing from the crop of handhelds is good data input. Fast data input.
This is a problem across the industry. We NEED a new way to input a LOT of data quickly.
Think of a shopping list or a manufacturing floor where you must record many values quickly.
There is simple NO good way to input data on a handheld at this time.

This is very cool.
Concerning P2P-DNS, I must be missing something technical here.
I wonder why everyone isnt jazzed about this. It seems like a natural to me.
There are obvious issues of 'spoofing' and authorities.

SuSE is a great distro.
Now you pop in a CD, answer a couple questions about language choice and location and go watch TV for 20 minutes and your new linux box is ready.
Works great. No fuss no muss no outside assistance.
You can leech RedHat RPM's too.
Hang on SuSE... many are just starting to see the green light!

Wow dude.
